CHAPTER 5

His eyes darted up and my heart froze. "Let him not see me please" I muttered a prayer and closed my eyes tight.

I opened my eyes after a few minutes to see he was no longer there, he obviously didn't see me.

I breathe out and tried climbing more up when my eyes landed on my mother who was standing at a distance and looking around for me.

I looked around and when I saw no one looking in my direction, I jumped down from the tree, my butt hitting the hard ground.

"ouch" I groaned and tried to stand up when I noticed a shadow above me.

I looked up to see my mother staring at me. "Oh Mom, you startled me just now" I muttered and she helped me up.

"Why do you like climbing this tree Daya? You do know you will face a big punishment if you are seen climbing trees, women do not climb trees in White moon pack Daya, it is a big offense" my mother scolded.

"I do not care mother. what more punishment would they melt out to me which they haven't done before?

This is the only place I rest for a few minutes without getting disturbed and I would not use because of them to stop coming here.

The worst they could do to me is punish me for leaving their sight and that's it" I muttered caring less.

"Daya" My mother called with a sorrowful voice holding my little palm in her hands.

I forgot to say that I'm frail and tiny which also attributed to my bully.

"Mum don't worry about me, I would be fine because I've always been," I said trying to assure her.

My mother worries a lot and I do not want her thinking about me instead of doing her work.

"Have you had something to eat?" I ask retrieving my palms from her hands and brushing it down her hair.

"I haven't, I just finished making breakfast for the pack and I was just coming to call you for yours," My mother said wiping her sweaty face with the hem of her cloth.

"We should go now before any of them sees us talking here, I do not want you going through any punishment," my mother said and I nodded following her inside through the backdoor. We had to dodge from the beasts.

We successfully made it to our trash of a room without anyone seeing us and I quickly began eating, pushing the food into my mouth as fast as I could.

I knew they would start looking for me anytime soon and I have to eat before anyone would barge in here to get me.

"I should return to the kitchen, when you are done, you should bring the plate to the kitchen but be careful Daya they mustn't find out you are eating by this time alright?" My mum advised getting on her feet.

I simply nodded to her words. Of course, I knew I should be careful not to be seen by any of the park members or the girls while carrying a plate because I wasn't meant to eat till noon and this was just morning.

I stood up with the plate and walked out of the room after I was done eating. Dragging my legs towards the kitchen and making sure I stay clear the path anyone would follow, I breathe in when I saw the kitchen door closed.

I quickened my pace and was already two feet closer when I saw Maya, the eldest daughter of the alpha coming out of the kitchen looking furious.

Damn! I mumbled and tried to swiftly pull myself behind the pillar which was a foot near me but before I could, her large brown eyes laid on me.

"What are you doing?" She whispered loudly dropping the glass cup she was holding on the dining table and coming towards me.

I gulped down nervously and looked her straight in the eyes. "Nothing, I'm just heading to the kitchen" I replied her hidng the plate behind my back so she wouldn't see it but Maya being Maya, I knew she would want to know why my hands were placed behind me.

I should say she hated me the most, I mean they all hate me but Maya's own would be considered as deep hatred.

She always look for ways to make me get punished. Always makes me do her things repeatedly. Flaming me up and laying accusations on me.

She would tell it to my face how much she hates and wants me ruined. She would say for as long as I remain with them, I would always be broken.

I always ignore her words and acts. I've grown a thick skin and whatever they do doesn't get to me anymore.

Most times I want to scream and fight back, tell it to their faces and spit on them then bear the consequences but looking at my mother, I could not do such thing because I can not bear to see her hurt.

She would be extremely disappointed in me for she had always thought me to ignore and endure.

According to her, it won't last forever. We would be free someday and they will all regret their acts but it would be too late for them.

I kinda do not believe in such things but for my mother's sake, I had no choice but to endure.

I can't say I hate her, I do not hate any of them because I know their hearts was poisoned by their mother and they were made to believe that my mother seduced their father in other to overthrow her.

It isn't their fault that they believed that and sees me as a threat to their family but I hope someday, they would learn the truth.

"What are you hiding behind you? Have you stolen from us because I do not trust you not to be a thief" Maya's voice shook bringing me out from my daze.
