After informing the entire room that Eliana was his slave, Keegan told her to go back to her job.
Father looked at Keegan and made him remember his mate, "You shouldn't talk like that. You already have your mate waiting for marriage."
Keegan was the same with me. We hadn't felt any sense yet of meeting our soulmate until this age. Though he was two years younger than me.
As the son of Alpha, we didn't have the privilege to wait for our fated soulmate. The mate we had was paired by the ceremony.
After a human wolf held the pair ceremony, they wouldn't be able to sense their real soulmate. The connection was already broken, and their real soulmate was going to look for another soul of different wolf.
Keegan looked at his back, Rebecca was standing behind him like a good female wolf. She already had an engagement with him and was ready to get married soon.
Same like Stella that was standing behind me. The difference was, Stella and I had just held our pair ceremony a month ago. We hadn't planned for the engagement or wedding yet.
She was the daughter of the other Alpha. Her pack was doing a great job in business and medical research. That's why I decided it was not a bad choice when her father asked me to become her mate.
"I'm not saying I would make Eliana my mistress, Father." Keegan said.
I had to control myself when I heard the word 'mistress' come out of his mouth.
Father rubbed his chin. His face showed that he was not pleasant with this. "Then let her last name be vacant for a moment. I'm going to talk with both of you after this." He said that while looking at me.
I let out a long breath, relieved when he didn't kill Eliana on the spot. I should have told my brother about this long ago. But truly, who could predict he would bring her to our turf.
The dinner banquet was going smoothly. I didn't see her again half of the time. Keegan must be putting her out of her work.
It's work better if I didn't see him. She was supposed to disappear from my life a long time ago.
We went directly to Keegan's office. It's his manor after all. My father was already sitting behind the desk. He glanced at my brother, and I bet a hundred he was speechless how his son behaved.
"Why she's here?" My father asked.
"I bought her from another pack father. I didn't know you knew her." Keegan said, and none of that was real. He was just bullshitting for his way out.
"Keegan, that woman's parents, had something to do with your mother's death ten years ago." My father stated the fact right away. He was not the typical one that turned around over his words to make you understand.
"What?" Keegan asked in surprise.
My father gave me a sign to explain the rest. He didn't want to explain anything more since he knew how ugly this could turn out. He could be the most feral alpha for his pack. But his heart was weak for his youngest son.
I spoke the truth to my brother, "Her parents sold information about us to our enemy. They took the opportunity of my little relationship with their daughter."
It was hard for me when I received the result of the investigation my father put in at that time. And we never had the intention to hide this truth from Keegan. Because when all of that happened, he was dealing with something and My dad decided to keep it a secret for his son wellbeing.
He already dealt with his own problem, and the loss of a mother really brought Keegan down to the pits. I'm not going to blame if he was back to his episode because of this. But cleaning yourself from drugs was hard.
I continued telling him the rest of the facts. "I told Eliana, father and the others would be on the trip for a delegation. But suddenly, there was an ambush that night. Right at the time when the alpha was in absence. Those people could somehow enter her room, forcing mother to drink poison. With her weak heart in the beginning, she didn't last long."
My father was rushing back after he heard the news. It was a moment before her death that she told my father everything. Keegan and some others only knew mother was dead because of heart failure.
My gut clenched when I remember the betrayal. "After investigation, it turned out the one that sold the information was her parents. Eliana must have told her parents so she could get the permission to meet me more."
He didn't say anything after hearing all of that. But It was only a moment of silence before his blow up.
Keegan stood with anger. "Why didn't I know about this? I'm also my mother's child!"
His face looked somehow distracted when the realization sunk in his head, that he knew nothing about our mother being murdered.
"Because the debt had been paid, Keegan." I said.
He seethed, "What do you mean it had been paid? Tell me, Conrad! I want all of it!"
"The avalanche that destroyed her village and killed her parents on the way, it was all on me. I'm the one who did that." I told him.
That's what the reality I created so my father didn't go on rampage, killing their entire pack.
If I remember ten years ago, so much happened at the same time. There's a big secret that my Father didn't know about. And at the end, I chose to protect her and her pack. This secret, I would carry it to my grave.
Keegan rubbed his head as he sweat. "So her parents sold information about mother, and you're the one who killed them?"
I didn't respond to that since he already knew the answer.
