Chapter 20: Future Endeavours
“Raul’s uncle!” Melinda almost shouted the words out loud, but Joan’s hand covered her mouth. “There has never been talk of any such person in Raul’s life. Who says so?” Melinda said when she had recovered her composure.
“Listen, you will have to be very calm about this,” Joan said in a voice just above a whisper. “According to Percival, there are things which he has heard from his parents, by mistake. He says that Menessa has been disowned by his relatives and nobody talks about him anymore for years.”
“Why should Percival be the one who knows about this?” Melinda said in a sudden fit of anger. “Everyone knows that he and Raul often have disagreements, so why should anyone believe him?”
“Well, apparently there’s evidence at the asylum,” Joan said with a deeply sympathetic look on her face. She held onto Melinda’s arm, refusing to allow her to storm out and confront Percival.
