Chapter 16: Exposure
“Guys, you’re both scaring me!” Raul said. Melinda physically shook herself when she looked away from Raul, to focus on one of the eagle statues in the study. There were quite a few of them there and they were beautiful, gold gilded birds, with eyes made out of tinted glass.
“I didn’t intend to listen in,” Melinda began. “But I couldn’t help overhearing you say that Lexi was the embodiment of the clown who owned him?” she asked Garett, looking straight at him and not at Raul. She did not want to tell Raul that his eyes were suddenly glowing with an intense golden light. His dark brown hair was also raised on end.
“It turns out that the spirit of Lexi, the bird, had left long ago and has been replaced by that of his owner, the clown,” Garett declared.
“So, I’m friends with a circus clown?” Raul asked reflectively.
“Yes, it appears so,” Garett answered.
