THE ORIGINAL WINTER

27th Of August.

"Welcome back princess I was expecting you yesterday" Alexandra said as I walked into her bunker shelf again, I was a bit sick yesterday and I had to rest before it turned into a full blown sickness.

"Oh something came up" I said dismissively, I came alone this time so I had all the time in my life to spend here, of course just the day but still that's a lot of time.

"A cold right? I was informed" who informed her? How did she know? Magic?

"What?" I said in awe.

"Don't be frightened, I overheard some of the staffs talking about it yesterday, the museum staff work directly under the house" what did she mean by that? Should I ask? Or I should ask about the book instead.

"That's by the way, I also heard you and Adaeze are getting alone well, that's impressive I must say" she said as she began to walk, leading me to the same place we say the book.

"Yes, any issues?" I was confused as to how she knew all these things, it seems she spends most of her time outside, no wonder it is dusty as usual.

"None at all, just heard some rumours flying around" she said still leading me to the place.

"What?" I was curious to know, am I supposed to fight with her?

"Well I heard her mother was trying to get her married to the boss, that's all" dang it, this explains her attitude towards me, wow this is such a deal breaker, then why is she still working here? Why?

"But you know, it's just rumours" she said again, I'm sure it's not a lie because she has been salty to me for no reason, how can I even blame Winter when she acts like an innocent saint in front of him.

"Do you want the translation?" She said as she sat down on a chair in front of the bookshelf contain the Winter's book, these chairs weren't here the last time.

"Word for word you won't be able to understand it as it makes no sense in modern day history, but I can try to explain it to you in the way you can understand" she said as she opened the book.

"Okay then, go ahead" I said as I wanted to allow her do her thing.

After some minutes and her reading some pages she began to explain " well the begging chapter is talking about how since he was a little boy, his father has never seemed to like him, he was always the outcast of his family as he was born with only one eye and the other shut close, he was believed to be a cursed child and a possessed body as there was a foresight by the chief priest of the kingdom who said 'the son with one eye would be the end of the oyo empire' and ever since he was born his life was nothing but a living hell" Alexandra paused for a minute, I am sure she is trying her best  but still, it doesn't make any sense to me.

"I Winter Olamide vows to get my kingdom and it's people back, I vow to get back what is rightfully mine" she changed her style of narration to a first person's POV.

"I the first son of Olamide and the rightful heir to the throne was disposed today because of my disabilities, but at last the people of oyoland would pay for it, I shall raise an army and destroy everything my forefathers have built and no one would ever know it was me"

Switching her reading style again Alexandra continues"He was the first son of the late King Olamide who was known to be that last king of the oyo empire, he was disposed at the age of 20 when his younger brother Daniel was coronated as the next king and prince of the oyo empire" she passed again as she began to flick through the pages as I waited anxiously, funny how this isn't my family heritage but here I am listening the book like it was mine.

"Well the book doesn't say much about what happened or how he became one of the richest men of his time and how he was able to gather an army to raid the oyo empire" she started as she continued reading and flipping pages, but isn't that what I wanted to know? How he brought such power down?

"Wait a minute" she said as she carries the book and places it closer to her face. "some pages are missing, a lot of pages" she exclaimed as she tried to put herself together.

"How is that possible? When did this happen?" The books have been heavily guarded how comes? Is it possible that someone just walked there and stole it?

"Not anytime soon, the book has been missing the pages before it was even embalmed, but who could have done this?" She said as she placed it back on her lap.

"Let's continue, but I think no one noticed or they feel like it was not important, or maybe?" She paused as she looked closely to the book again.

"I have taken the pages as you would not be needing the information on how to overrule a kingdom" she read aloud, who wrote this? And why did he take the pages?

"Let's continue" it has been hours as it takes her a long time to read and translate it for me, the day was getting a bit dark and gloomy.

"Well the rest of the book talks about how he met his wife and how they gave birth to a sucussor of his wealth, he goes on to say all through the war he was anonymous and no one knew it caused The great oyo war" alexandra said as she jilted from her seat, he wasn't wrong after 400 years no one has ever figured who and what started the war, this was something no history book has, and look at me figuring it on a random Tuesday afternoon.

"He does at the age 112 and his wife decides to open a cemetery for him, he is buried at the Winter cemetery, which is now located in Bayan, in her words she said 'he has never seen peace neither has he rested all his life in oyo empire, I don't want him to rest in death there, so i shall bud him his own cemetery for our family to rest on and meet after death, I refuse for him to be sent to the place that does not want his peace'"

dun dun dun, I feel like the story has a lot of powerful female leads, why don't we switch it up a bit?
