Winning the Alpha's Heart

Born of Alpha bloodline, Twilight is destined to succeed her father in ruling the Sliver Dragon Pack. The young, free-spirited alpha female is the strongest warrior in the pack, surpassing even her own father, and never cared about whether or not she would find her mate. Until the day she found him, the young Alpha-to-be of a neighbouring pack. Only to have him reject her for his bed buddy. Enraged and broken-hearted, she ran away and got severely injured along the way. Suddenly, she woke up in an unfamiliar place, only to find that her second-chance mate, Takumi, saved her. But her now cold-hearted self refuses to accept another mate but he won't give up that easily. Can Takumi win the Alpha's heart? Here’s a little sneak peek: “Imagine the one person who was literally made for you, supposed to be your other half and complete you in a way that no one else can and yet wants nothing to do with you. I’m over it, but I still feel like a monster for how I reacted to it. I know it happened a long time ago, but I still hate myself for it. His dad said it was ok, but I think he only said it to make me feel less guilty and deep down he hates me. And I'm pretty sure everyone else feels the same way.” It was then that she felt a little wetness on her face; she didn't realize that tears were streaming down her cheeks the whole time. That's when she broke down into more tears. Takumi pulled her into a hug. “I'm sure no one hates you.” “You don't hate me?” She asked between sobs. “How can I hate the girl I love? Especially when she's like this.” “You love me?” “Wasn't it obvious?” “Not really. I mean, you flirt and then joke about it. You make suggestive and sexual moves on me and then act as if they don't mean anything and you always use the terms ‘friends’ and ‘roommates’ whenever you refer to our relationship, so I went with it. If anything, you've been sending me mixed messages and it's very confusing.” “Sorry if I've been confusing and I'll make it clear this time. I love you.”

Chapter 36

Later…

Takumi went into a fit of coughing.

"Are you ok?" Twilight asked.

"Yeah. I think I swallowed wrong."

She got him a glass of water.

"Are you sure? You've been coughing a little since we got home."

"Yeah, I'm sure."

"Ok, but maybe take a little study break."

"Sure."

Later that night, he coughed again.

"You don't sound ok. If anything, it sounds like you caught something from me while I was sick."

The next day…

She gently woke him up.

"Did you forget something?" He asked groggily.

"What do you mean?"

"You left just now, didn't you?"

"No, but I'm guessing were you sleeping the whole day."

"I don't remember doing anything, so I guess so."

"I thought that might be the case, so I made dinner. I also got medicine."

"Is it a coincidence that you got the exact one my parents would get?"

"No. Earlier, I wasn't sure which one was ok for you to have, and I thought I'd be disturbing your sleep, so I called your dad. I found his office number online. The secretary was a little annoying, but I finally got through to him after some arguing. I doubt your mom would've wanted to talk to me."

"Thanks, but you didn't have to go through all that trouble. What happened at school today?"

"I made notes in class, but you can look at them another time. And I can always tutor you if you miss a lot of classes, so don't worry about it too much. Just focus on getting better."

"Yes, ma'am."

The next morning…

"If you get better before I get back, I got rum and raisin ice cream for you yesterday. See you later."

"Yeah."

Later…

"Hey, Kendo-chan, wanna share some cupcakes?" Kogami asked. "I don't think I can finish them all."

"Sure," She sat next to him.

"I know we've only known each other for a few months, but I like you."

"You like me?"

"Yeah."

"Well, that's…"

"You're like the little sister I've never had, even though we're the same age."

"Oh, that's what you meant."

"I don't know what else I'd mean, but yeah. You have some icing on the side of your mouth."

He was about to give her a napkin, but just then, a familiar warm hand gently grabbed her chin, making her look up, and a tongue licked the icing off.

"Sorry to disappoint, but this cute, little hothead isn't yours," Takumi said. "C'mon, let's go."

He took her hand and walked off. The blush on her face was enough to put the colour red to shame.

"Did you have to lick it off?" She asked.

"I didn't see a reason not to. I hate sharing."

She let out a little laugh.

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing. Except, you're cute when you're jealous."

A little red dusted his cheeks.

"Last time I checked, you were sick."

"I felt better a couple of hours after you left."

"Either way, I didn't give you the go-ahead to come to school. I told you not to worry about missing classes. Honestly, most people would jump at the chance to miss a day of school."

"It couldn't be helped."

"Fine, but if you feel the slightest bit off, go to the nurse's office."

"Deal."

"Hey, I need to borrow her for a second," Ayaka said, dragging her away.

"Why's everyone dragging me away today?"

"Some girls wanted to talk to you. More specifically, the members of the Rengoku fan club."

"Just when I thought this day couldn't possibly get any worse."

"How dare you seduce our beloved Rengoku?" One of them said.

"Ok, first of all, my seducing skills suck ass because I don't have any. Second, why are you getting mad at me? It's not my fault that he chose me and it's not like I asked him to. He did it out of his own free will." Twilight said. "If anything, I tried and failed to get rid of him. And third, you guys are nuts to the point where I'm starting to worry about your mental health."

"Then I guess you won't mind if one of us steals him from you." Another one said.

"You can go ahead and try. But ladies, let's not fight over a man. We're better than that. Anyway, good luck because I seriously doubt he can get hard with anyone else."

"What makes you so sure of yourself?"

"Are you guys stupid or something, we're talking about the guy that everyone, including me, thought was gay. And if you don't believe me then go ahead and try. So, as I've said before, good luck, or whatever. Oh, and if your feelings get hurt in the process, it's neither my fault nor my problem because I warned you."

Later...

"A bunch of girls were trying to flirt with me all day. Any idea of what that's about?" Takumi asked.

"That's your fan club. They were pissed about me being your girlfriend and I might've told them to go ahead and try to steal you from me. And that it's not my problem if they get hurt."

"So, you're the culprit."

"This is more your fault than mine. If you hadn't kissed me in front of everyone, they wouldn't have found out, and this wouldn't have happened. You brought this upon yourself."

Later that evening, they were sitting at the kitchen table. Twilight was helping Takumi catch up.

"I want a baby," She said.

"What?"

"A baby. I want one."

"Are you telling me to get you pregnant?"

"What else does 'I want a baby' mean?"

"Didn't you say we're too young to have one?"

"I changed my mind."

"In that case..." He picked her up over his shoulder. "... we can make one right now." He headed to their room.

"Wait, I was joking."

"I wasn't."

"We're not even married."

"I'll change that when we're done," He put her on the bed, and got on top of her.

"Hold on, I'm not ready to have one."

He kissed her forehead. "I know. I was kidding." He got off.

"Geez, you scared me."

"I'm pretty sure I'm the one who's supposed to be saying that, and I think in your moment of panic, you forgot that I can't get you pregnant at the moment."
