Leslie had been waiting for Calix to arrive home after their previous phone call. She woke up twice but, there was no sight of him until now. Seeing him stirred joy and relief within her.
Finally, he was back.
"Calix... I'm sorry..." Leslie locked her eyes onto Calix's, finding how blurry her eyesight was, "I didn't... expect that... I'd... just vanished... like that..."
Her throat was damaged quite badly but, Leslie wished to relay her apology to Calix as soon as she could. Even without him telling her about it, she could imagine how anxious he was after she abruptly disappeared without traces.
Calix loosened his grasp on Leslie's hand. Letting out a chuckle, he jokingly said, "You know what? I think your stunt took ten years off my life."
Leslie simply smiled. She would hurt her throat more if she laughed. Slowly blinking her eyes a few times, the images she saw still lack clarity.
