Suitemates

"Kasha Mazekeen."
I stepped forward as my name was called and she handed to me my room and suite keys as well two pieces of paper. One was my timetable, the other had eight words written on it with a scrawny handwriting.
Room 4. Suite 624. Seventh floor.
Seventh floor! I groaned, rolled my eyes and stomped my feet but started hauling all my luggage up the stairs regardless.
"Most prestigious school and they couldn't afford to fix their dumb elevator." I huffed.
I made it up there at last. This is it. I thought as I adjusted the backpack on my shoulder and opened the door. The rooms in the girl's building were called Suites. They consisted of four rooms connected to a mini living room which you would see immediately you entered the room. The rooms were numbered one through four from the right to left - Room One to the right, Room Two and Three in the middle and Room Four to the left. I was quite happy with my room. It was behind the suite door which opened inward to the left so if anyone broke in it would be the last one they checked. I hauled my luggage into the room and proceeded to unpack. It took me hours to unpack and arrange everything. I sighed in relief when I was done. I turned and walked towards the window to stare at the great view.
"At least something good came out of this room."
Wilde Academy. The most prestigious school in all of the nether realm. I glanced at my phone and discovered it was almost time for dinner. Can't believe it took me that long to unpack. I looked around the room and wondered that if things went as they should, I would have been on the top two floors with the other snobs.
The top two floors of the academy. The best floors in the building. They were reserved for the top 0.1% of the top 1% in the realm. I really hope I do not bump into any of those people. My stomach grumbled and I how hungry I was. I unlocked my door stepped out to meet my other three suitemates staring at me like I interrupted their conversation.
"Hi." I said with the best smile I could summon.
"Hello. I'm Tessa, the werewolf."
"Hi Tessa. It's nice to meet you."
"Awww. Aren't you sweet?" Another girl cooed and Tessa elbowed her in the ribs.
"Don't mind, Raquelia. She's like that mostly. Magic users and their attitude."
Ohhh. That made sense. She was a witch. Most witches considered the term 'witch' derogatory. They preferred magic user but I honestly didn't care either way. It didn't change who they were.
"Sure." I smiled.
"I'm Meira, the vampire." She said smiling at me with her hazel eyes and raven black hair. I already knew she was a vampire. The pale skin and beauty kinda gave it away. It was actually known that a vampire's beauty is one of the ways they lured humans out. I mean come on, if you were walking in the woods and saw this super cute guy wouldn't you follow him? Cause I know I would.
"Nice to meet you ,Meira." I said.
"Do you wanna get lunch together?"
Each suite had four members - one from each race of supernaturals. It was part of some plan to fix the gap of hate and grudge growing between our races.
The vampires and werewolves hated eachother because of each believed they were superior to the other and wanted the other to bow down to them. Basically they were proud pricks who couldn't find peace. The fairies and 'magic users' hated eachother because the had different beliefs in magic. The 'magic users' practiced what they termed as 'Advanced Magic' which was magic applied to spells, practical skills and science while the fairies practiced Elemental magic which was magic gotten from nature- Fire, Earth, Air and Water. So basically we were stubborn knuckle heads who couldn't find a middle ground. We decided to sit together for dinner so we left the suite and began the 'endless' descent down the stairs.
"When do you think the elevator will be fixed?" I asked.
"Oh they aren't fixing it." Tessa said.
"What?! Why?" I asked.
"Students kept sabotaging the elevator so it would fall or trapping the people they didn't like in it with some kind of beast so the school closed it down for safety reasons."
"Well can't people just push each other down the stairs?" Raquelia asked, glancing subtlely in my direction.
"Yeah but the stairs won't need a lot of money to be fixed. They just clean up the blood and everything is fine."
By the time we reached the cafeteria, it was already filled with bustling ,lively people. I hate crowds. I really do. I got my food and took a seat with my suitemates. As we were eating, Tessa nudged and asked
"You have a crush on Jax , don't you?"
"What? No he's my alpha's son."
I rolled my eyes at her.
"If you keep staring at him like that you are gonna bore a hole through him." I stated.
"Yeah." She whined.
"What else aren't you telling us?" I asked.
"We're mates." She confessed.
Meira and Racquelia gasped as I froze.
Mates.
I hated that word and how it left a bitter tastes in my mouth. A mate was your other half, your missing piece, the person who was to be your true love.
"Does he know?" Meira asked.
"What do you mean 'does he know?' Meira? Of course he knows." Racquelia said
"So what did he say?" I asked.
"He hasn't said anything. He's been pretending like he can't feel it. Can't feel us." She said dejectedly.
"That little..." Meira swore under her breath.
Werewolves had an hierarchy. You couldn't approach those of higher rank than you unless you were permitted. You could not look them in the eye unless you were told to do so. He knows that she can't come to him and the fact that he hasn't tried to approach her meant one thing.
Rejection.
If you did not want your mate, you were able to reject them. The pain of rejection was said to be as painful as having your soul torn to shreds and most people die either from the pain of rejection or the depression that follows after. However, rejection was quite common. In our world, power was everything. If your mate was weak you could reject them and find someone stronger. We all knew that so we comforted Tessa as best as we could.
"Who are his friends?" I asked.
"You do not know who they are?" Meira asked, eyeing me like I came from another planet.
"Nope." I said.
Meira sighed and began.
"The one in the black shirt is Blake, the vampire prince. He was descended from Dracula himself. The one to his right is Jax. Jax's father is the alpha of the strongest pack. To Blake's left is Damien, the fairy prince and last but not least is Josh. The prince of magic."
"Slightly suspicious group." I said.
"Yeah but they are so close they are practically brothers."
"Really ?"
"Yeah ."
"That's not suspicious at all." I muttered.
With that I excused myself to go back to the room. I was about to ascend the stairs when someone coming down bumped into me.
"Watch it peasant."
"Excuse me?!" I turned to face the person and I was shocked. That was way too much makeup.
"Did the thing just talk?" She asked.
I wanted to retort, my mind was racing with all the things I could do to get but I just took a deep breath, sighed and said
"Sorry."
"You're lucky I'm in a hurry." She huffed and continued on . Oh she was so lucky that I was trying not to attract attention and keep a low profile in the school.
I turned up the stairs and heard snickers coming from behind me.
Finally reaching my suite, I flung the door open and crashed onto my bed and fell asleep.
