Marshall IV

Chandler has not been outside for the past few days now, it's not because of his injuries he was healed the next day. He was amazed when he woke up and discovered that all the pains, bruises, and wounds were all healed, and he felt more alive but he was still terrified whenever he has flashbacks of the event that happened that night. He thought about Alice, but he knew that he has no chance to be with her again especially now that she knows that he is a monster and his father that just showed up happens to be one of the best hunters that will kill him without batting an eye. A few weeks passed by and there was no more killing in the woods, no animal attacks anymore and the rumors are that Sabastian was the serial killer because the animal attack all stopped after his body was discovered by the Sherriff on the street. The Sherriff had to open the woods again after a few weeks and there was no attack, but he still had questions like who killed Sabastian and how he was able to terrorize his town. The sheriff had no one to ask these questions so he had to close the case for now as they keep their eyes peeled for this new murderer. Chandler was thinking about continuing his life, but it was not easy for him, he was thinking about what to tell Alice if they happen to meet out there. He was thinking about going to the woods with his father this morning, so he woke up early, brushed his teeth, and came down to take his breakfast with his father. The moment he greeted his father and was about to sit down, the doorbell rang so he froze as he looked at his father who had no clue of who it might be but still gestured to Chandler to go and check. Alice was standing with her palms folded behind her, it was obvious that she was nervous, but she was still smiling as Chandler opened the door. Chandler froze as he saw her, a million questions went through his head, and he could not process all that at once as he just stared at her. "Can I come in?" She asked as her voice cracked; she was sounding like she was already regretting asking that question. Chandler cleared his throat as he jolted back to reality. "Uhm sure! Come in." he opened the door wider for her to walk in slowly. "Sit down please," Chandler said as he closed the door and turned to see her still standing like they were fangs on the chairs in the living room. Alice walked to a single couch beside her and sat down gently as she tapped her knees continuously, Chandler could tell that she was still scared and nervous, but he could not understand why she would be here if she was still terrified. "You are the least of the person I was expecting to see in my house today." Chandler was looking for a way to ask her why she was in his house without sounding rude. "Yeah, I never got to thank you for saving me that night." She replied with a dry smile. "That's nothing," Chandler replied as he remembered how he almost died that night, it still terrified him. "Alice." Mr. Beckham said as he walked past Chandler and Alice to open the door and step outside, Alice greeted, and he nods as he reaches for the doorknob. "Uhm...I'm sorry but I have to go now with..." Chandler was about to tell Alice that he was about to go to the woods with his father, but Mr. Beckham cut in. "No, it's alright I can take care of myself." "Sure?" Chandler asked if he wanted to go with his father so he won't have to face Alice, but his father assured him that he would be okay. "You kids can have some fun but not too much." Mr. Beckham smiled as he opened the door and walked outside. "Does he know about..." "About me being a werewolf? Yes of course" Chandler replied, he already knew what she wanted to ask. "My dad..." Alice paused, he was not ready to call Marshall IV his dad, it still felt weird in her mouth. "Marshall said your dad might be a werewolf too." She said as she cleared her throat and looked around the living room, she was avoiding eye contact with Chandler. Chandler nods as he walked to sit beside her on another couch, she saw him nod with the side of her eyes though. Chandler could also notice how she was uncomfortable calling Marshall IV her dad and it was kind of relief because he has been imagining her bonding with him and planning how to hunt him down with other werewolves. Chandler felt like if she could not call him his father then it means that she kind of still hates him, but he needed to be sure, so he needs to ask her without her realizing his reason. "So how is he?" "I don't know. My mom did not let him spend a night at our place, she chased him out that same night." Alice replied. "Your mother chased the most feared werewolf hunter away?" Chandler asked surprisingly and Alice nods in affirmation as Chandler chuckles. "I won't like to be on your mom's bad side," Chandler said with a smile and Alice smiled too. "Does she know that he is a werewolf hunter?" "Who?" Alice asked like her brain stopped working for a minute. "Your mom" "Oh! Yeah, she said that he had to choose between me and werewolf hunting when I was born." Alice said with a change in her mood. "So, he chose werewolf hunting. That must be sad to hear." "He said that it's like a mantle on our family and it was his turn to carry the torch." "That's why he chose it over his daughter? Bullshit!" Chandler yelled as he tries to assure her that he was supporting her. "Yeah, I told him that, but he said I am still too young to understand." Alice sighed as she tried not to cry but Chandler noticed that her eyes were watery already. "It's okay. You're better off without him." Chandler said as he stretched out his arm to pat her on her kneecap. "I know but it's still heartbreaking for you to discover that your father you believed was dead chose you over his work and... and..." Alice could not hold the tears any longer, she burst into tears. Chandler sprang up as he sat on the hand of the couch, she was sitting on to pat her on the back and console, he got her to stop crying after some time, but she was still sniffing. "I don't even know who to talk to, it feels like everyone is hiding something from me. I could not believe that even my mom was hiding this type of secret from me." She said with her voice still breaking. "I'm here for you. Anything you want to know I can tell you and you can tell me anything too." Chandler said as Alice looked at his eyes without blinking, Chandler nodded, and she smiled. "Anything at all, I know you must have many questions about this werewolf stuff." "Not really, he told me everything that night even though I could not hear some because I was still terrified that night," Alice said as she cleaned the tears on her cheek. "He did?" Chandler has a feeling that a hunter like Marshall IV telling his daughter about werewolves would surely make the story look like the werewolves are just beasts that need to be put down. "Yeah, he did." "So, what did he tell you about werewolves?" Chandler asked as he cleared his throat and leaned forward to hear what he told her. "He said that you guys are like untamable animals that need to be killed." She replied as Chandler's heart sank but he needed to ask her one more question. "And you believe him?" "I don't know what to believe again but I believe that werewolves are also human and not all humans are bad." She replied as she looked at Chandler, she could hear his heartbeat decreasing. Chandler was relieved to hear that answer because he felt like Marshall IV would end up turning her into a werewolf killing machine like him. He would not want to see his crush end up hurting him down with other werewolves out there. "So, werewolves fear him huh?" Alice asked "Yeah, they should. I heard he has killed up to 200 werewolves." "218. He told me." Alice replied. "Wow. he keeps counts, like a serial killer." Chandler was trying to hide his fear with sarcasm, Alice smiled. "So why was Sabastian not scared of him and even wanted to kill me?" "Sabastian is a psycho, really crazy." "Yeah," Alice replied. There was silence in the living room for a few minutes, Chandler wanted to ask her more about everything that Marshall IV told her, but he does not want it to be too obvious, so he was just thinking about how to put the questions. "So, is he still in town?" Chandler asked and she nods. "He says that he can sense that war is coming, and he needs to be closer to his family when the war comes," Alice responded, Chandler was confused by her answer. Chandler knew that they already prevented a war by stopping Sabastian from killing Alice but now she just said that a war is coming. Chandler thought maybe the hunters were getting ready to retaliate against the werewolves for the ones that Sabastian murdered. "You don't have to be scared. I made my father promise that he won't hurt you or your family." Alice said as she looked at Chandler who raised his head to look at her back, she could tell that he was scared the moment he heard war. "Thank you," Chandler said in a low tone as Alice smiles with a nod. "But what about other werewolves? They must be a way to stop all these killings, this feud between hunters and werewolves needs to stop. Not all werewolves are bad or dangerous." Chandler stated and Alice was not going to argue that with him. "You're right but I don't think there is anything you can do to stop hunters all over the world from hunting werewolves." "I know," Chandler replied with a low tone as he sighs. Alice could see that Chandler was looking sad and she wanted to brighten his mood, but she does not know how, he still has to try though so she held his hands and squeezed it gently. Chandler felt a chill from his hand down his spine, his head felt like it was swearing and momentarily he forgot about another thing. He raised his head to stare at her, he wanted to just hold her gently and kiss her right there, but he knew she still have a boyfriend. "I'm glad that I came here to talk with you, I don't have anyone else I could go to," Alice said with her calm romantic voice. Chandler felt happy to hear that, but he just remembered that she has a boyfriend. "I thought you have a boyfriend?" Chandler asked in a low tone like he did not want to ask the question. "We broke up." She stated. Some good news finally! Chandler thought aloud but he was smart enough not to make it too obvious that he was happy that she broke up. "What happened?" He asked with a concerned tone. "After that night, I was not myself for a few weeks and she kept asking me what the issue was, but I was not ready to tell him yet. He started insinuating that I was changing because of you so I had to dump his lame ass." She explained as Chandler listened carefully with a concerned face but inside, he was feeling like the happiest man there is, his smile inside could reach his eyes. "I'm glad that I could be here for you now," Chandler said as he squeezed her hands gently too, he did not feel any guilt as he did that now knowing that she was single now. Everywhere was quiet for a while as they just looked at each other closely and like a magnet, something drew them closer to each other as they did not blink. Chandler's heart was pounding but he could tell that she wanted this too, but he does not want to be too quick and maybe lose her, he thought about what would happen if he kissed her and she feels offended and landed a slap on his face. It would be worth it, Chandler thought as their lips met each other and it was magical like Chandler imagined or maybe even better. The kiss was short but amazing, Chandler drew back because she did not kiss him back. "Sorry," Chandler muttered as he looked away. Alice held him on both cheeks as she pulled his face closer to hers and placed her lips on his and kissed him, Chandler was shocked as he came closer so he could place his hands behind her.
