Chapter 4: Being his mate

Althea froze, and Anthony turned to face Allan, who was looking up. She then clutched Anthony's arm, her stomach felt like twisting into knots. She felt sick, but not in love.

Allan then says, "Cherry, apples, mint," with a snapping sound after each word. "That's what you smell, sweetie," Allan smirked after saying this.

"Kids, come on!" exclaims their Alpha, yanking Anthony away before he can say anything else. She was on the verge of hyperventilating,

Anthony had his arm around her waist, tying her to him. He was aware that she required assistance.

He put her on his back before they left the prison so she could sleep on the long walk back to their shady bus, but first, she heard Allan's growl when Anthony helped her. That's a mate-possessive nature.

The bus had already stopped behind their school when she awoke. She stood up, stretched, and bit her nails while clutching her notebooks. Anthony held her hand as they exited the bus and the school grounds. Nobody, not even the teachers who had come, was going to stay for the rest of the day.

"Althea, correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like Allan is your mate?" Anthony stops and closes his eyes.

Probably to brace for the punch that wasn't coming.

She whimpered as she bit her lip. When he opened his eyes, they were wide open. "I'm sorry, let's go to my house and forget about what you heard today, okay?" he says, pulling away to look into her worried eyes.

"I won't forget," she sobbed. "I'm mated to m-monster, no, The Monster was my mate. Why it should be me!? He didn't deserve a mate! He deserved to die! Why this is happening to me!" Althea exclaims as she collapses to the ground. Thankfully, he catches her just as her head is about to fall open.

"Our house is just a couple of houses down; I will carry you," he says. When he says something, that something is happening.

He picks her up in bridal fashion and dashes into his one-story mobile home. With his foot, he slams the front door open and places her on the couch.

Her mind was clouded and light.

"Here, ice bag," he remained, placing an ice bag on her head. She smiles lightly, wishing he had been her mate. "I guess I am just not that fortunate in life "She muttered something.

After ten minutes, her head cleared up and she tossed the pea on her head; she despised the smell, and Anthony knew it. "Ew," she says as she wipes her hands on her leggings.

"Thank God, that's the normal Thea I know," Anthony says as he wraps his arms around her. "So, do you want to talk about it?" he asks, looking her in the eyes. She was so concerned that she couldn't help but tell him.

She then sighed and averted her gaze. "My wolf got so excited first when we found out about the trip, then she got slightly more eager at the gate, and when we saw Allan, she went crazy, and I smelt my favorite scent Caramel, and chocolate."

"I didn't think it was real because he didn't even notice me, but his last remark earlier...," she paused as she wraps her arms around her legs. "Sh*t, I can't even reject him I don't even know what his surname is," she says, pulling her hair.

"Shh," Anthony pulls her onto his lap for the first time to comfort her, "it's not like he can do anything, he's chained up in silver chains. So, don't need to worry, I'm just here. I will protect you. I'm not going to let him have you," he says, leaning into her neck.

She pauses before taking out her phone. If what she's heard about wolves gaining powers when they meet their mates is true, the thought of escaping isn't too far from reality.

The first site she visited was a Wiki, which claimed that mating doubles the strength of their male mate. Females can help their mates heal faster than they would normally. Females, too, develop immunity to silver, though not completely.

She bites her lower lip and clicks on the second link. Wolves0027Dumb. They both stated the same thing. Every other website did the same thing.

"Anthony, do you think he could escape?" She asks, even though he just said he wouldn't. She needed to know to make sure and for her peace of mind.

"I'm going, to be honest with you, my Thea. If his strength doubles and you heal him from being close to him today, there is a good chance," he mumbles into the back of her neck.

She remained silent, her thoughts to herself. He was being truthful, but she wished he had lied to her. She desired to live in a remote location where no one knew she existed. They just want to live a normal life far from their monster mate.

"I have to go," Althea stands up and turns around, surprising Anthony. "If my mother finds out about this, I'm sure she will disown me; they will think that I'm like him because I'm his mate," she says, pointing to the prison.

Anthony then stands up and approaches her as if she were a tiny doe.

"Your mom will always love you, Thea," he says softly. "We love you," he said quietly.

"And what if he escapes? He's going to kill again, and I don't want to be there and witness it!" she says tearfully as she slides down the front door.

"We will protect you, Thea; you are a member of the pack, and we never leave anyone behind," he says as he kneels in front of her. She suddenly felt cluttered and depressed, which she had never experienced before.

"I hate to tell it to you, but the last time a mate was found for a serial killer, the administration tortured her and did acts of kindness to humiliate her mate for fun!" she screams. She had always been the calm type, but not now. In a matter of seconds, she had devolved into a shambles. She wished she could pull herself together, but she knew she couldn't.

"Stay here for tonight, Thea," he says, holding out his hand. "My parents and your mom are out drinking, and we might as well do some of our own," he says, trying to hold out his hand. She gulps and rises, collapsing into his chest.

Thinking that a good night of drinking might help her forget about her problems. To forget the fact that her mate is a serial killer.
