Chapter 35 : Are you okay?

The drive home was both silent and lethal. Allan was displeased with her as if she had done something wrong on purpose. The thing is, if she had known, she would not have talked to or even walked near Oliver. Allan is simply being stubborn at the moment. "So, all this time he's the big brother that Oliver told me," she said to herself as she secretly glance at him.

The car comes to a complete stop, causing her to move forward and collide with the dashboard. She groans, rubbing the impending bump. She wishes he would be more cautious. "Are you okay?" Allan asks as he steps out of his car. She bites her lower lip as she nods. She was in pain, but she didn't want to bother him right now.

She steps out of his car, only to collide with Allan's chest. "Althea, we are mates, keep in mind that I can feel your pain, now let's go home. Let's not fight here," he says, uncrossing his arms so he can take her hand.

She follows Allan without saying anything. He had an unexpected change of heart, which she find strange, but she is relieved he won't be cranky all day because of the mate bond's flaws.

But suddenly, her head begins to hurt about midway through the stairs, and she stops, pulling Allan back. He looks down at her with concern, "Althea?" he tries to say her name, but her eyes shut and she passes out on the ground.

"So, will she be fine?" Allan inquires, his voice slightly concerned. His wolf has been attempting to contact her, but her wolf has been denying to contact with her for some purpose. But she won't tell her why. Someone else sighs, "Yes, just be more extra cautious; you can be careless because this could have made her remember," Allan's doctor from the other day advises.

"Don't say it. She could be awake," Allan mutters to the doctor, squeezing the top of her arm.

Her eyes would fly open if they could. It's as transparent as day now, "So, my mate was hiding something from me, about me!" she thinks to herself as her wolf whines in frustration.

"Don't worry, I will try figuring it out soon enough," she assured her wolf.

"She won't wake up, I just inspected her readings," the doctor laughs, "but I wanted to talk to you about it." She overheard some movement around and assumes the doctor, or Allan sits down.

Althea pays close attention to Allan as he speaks. "OK. go on," he urges the doctor, becoming agitated. In her mind, her wolf paced back and forth, trying to piece things together.

Althea was now the ears, and her wolf was the brains. "Well, she is in the phase of gradually getting her memories back-" her heart starts to race as she put the final fragment together. She wasn't forgetful; she didn't forget Allan; she just lost her memories. However, there are many more questions unanswered now. Althea had no idea what she was going to do. "Before she sees the real you, acknowledge her as well as you can; if you do that, she will most likely not reject you," the doctor tries to explain. As she started listening to them, she could feel her heartbeat in her ear.

"Are you f*cking serious, she might remember everything?" Allan stomps his foot. Her wolf whimpers, starting to wonder if what they did the last time was a mistake. Normally, Althea would do it, but it appears that they are finally agreeing on something.

"There is nothing we can do about it, Allan; just keep going, be good to her and she will forgive you," the doctor says fatherly to Allan.

She then contemplates what she should forgive him for. Allan's reaction to her gradually regaining her memories makes it sound pretty bad.

He then decided to open her eyes because she couldn't keep listening forever. She notices Allan and the doctor looking at each other, not noticing her presence. "Forgive you for what? Lying to me?" she asks, her voice cracking up. That was in the morning, or when she hadn't spoken in a long time.

Both of their heads turn quickly toward her, and the doctor gives her a worried look as if she thought she was asleep when she wasn't. Allan gives her a blank stare as if he doesn't know what to say. She averts her gaze from his as if she doesn't want to see him.

Allan lets out a roar, and she looks over to see him clutching the doctor's lapel. "So, still asleep?" he cringes. She keeps a close eye on Allan as he lifts the doctor into the air.

"Allan, please just stop," she says emphatically. He drops the doctor and looks at her, perplexed.

"I don't know what I am going to do with you, Althea," Allan said as he sat on the side of his bed where she lay. It didn't sound like he was speaking to her, but there was also a double meaning.

"Don't touch me," Althea says as she moves her hand away from his. She didn't want him to do anything until he told her the chilly, painful truth.

Allan then smiles and leans in close to her ear, "We are completely marked mates, sweetie, my pain is your pain, and there is no leaving now; you are connected with me forever," he says as he walks out of his apartment, the doctor trailing behind him like a rag doll.

She bites her lower lip, blinking at the door, unsure what to say. He is correct that his pain is her pain, but her pain is also his. He was going to feel her depression if she was depressed.

And, as fully marked mates, she can never abandon him, but she can choose to ignore him, which could be risky. His wolf could easily seize command.

She then lay back down, only to keep looking at the ceiling for hours on end, trying to think.
