While Calypso was walking towards her coven to be ready for her meeting with the two youngsters, She started analyzing that menacing feeling she felt, which was coming from none other than the newbie witch's companion Yuba. That feeling is explained by words like slowly drowning in shifting sands while being helpless, an insect stuck in the web of a spider. This was no magic nor hypnotism. Calypso understood that she was being compelled by that kid. She thought maybe that kid was secretly a vampire, but that would be impossible, a vampire walking under the sun without burning is unrealistic, unless... He is a daywalker, but to be a daywalker you need to be an elder vampire, and there is only one elder vampire, and his name is Faustus. Faustus is a great creature that doesn't meddle with mundane business nor with witch business, he is at a higher place. Plus, Yuba's compelling was instinctive and it wasn't charming like the vampires' compelling, it was as if a predator was toying with its prey, a feeling of fear that penetrated the witch to the deepest point of her core. Calypso knew that she had to do some research about this kid, he looks dangerous and might be a threat to her plans, so she should be ready to get rid of him at any moment, thus she needs to be fully prepared.
"Numidia, are you sure that you want to meet that old hag? I think she is hiding something, my intuitions are never wrong and you know that," said Yuba.
Numidia then responded:" Oh come on Yuba, don't be paranoid. She looks kind to me, plus she is willing to help me understand my powers, isn't that what you always wanted? Or are you jealous because someone else found an explanation for my mysterious powers and you were helpless?"
Yuba replied:" Shut up. Let's do some research about these 7 hermetic laws, I think I have seen something about it in my father's library, let's go to my place ."
Then the two youngsters went straight to Yuba's place to learn anything they can about these 7 hermetic laws. After a 20 min walk, they reached their destination, Yuba's huge house. Nothing out of the ordinary, servants, many cars, pools, and a tennis field. After all, he was the heir of Maahes but everyone can agree that Yuba never was cocky because of all the money he had, money didn't matter to him. After going inside they directly went to the big old and dusty library of Masinisa Maahes, the father of Yuba. Luckily for them, the library was perfectly arranged alphabetically, and every genre was in its place. For instance, historical books were there alone, and law books were in other rows, etc...
After 10 min research, Yuba found something related to the keyword Hermes, it was The Kybalion which translates to The Seven Hermetic Laws, a book claiming to be the essence of the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus. Yuba then took the book and put it on the table, called for Numidia, and said:" All we need to know about these 7 rules is here. You know I just realized that these 7 rules are related to Hermes Trismegistus ( Thrice greatest ), who is the purported author of the Hermetic Corpus. The funniest part is that this guy is a god in Egyptian mythology, his Egyptian name is Thoth also known as the god of wisdom and knowledge. Never knew knowledge and wisdom were related to witchcraft and folklore, how ironic."
Numidia then took the book from Yubas hands furiously and said:" Stop taking these things lightly, what if this Thoth comes to haunt you? Anyway let me read about these rules, you're deconcentrating me. Let us start with the first rule."
First Hermetic rule: The Principle of Mentalism " The all is mind; The universe is mental." which is based on that the universe itself is a living mind, one that is connected to all minds and vis versa. If you understand this principle you begin to grasp the fact that we are capable of shaping our reality using just our minds and thoughts.
Second Hermetic rule: The principle of correspondence " As above, so below, as below, so above. As within, so without, as without, so within." This means that there are constant links between the mental, physical and spiritual planes; thus everything is linked, so every understanding of any matter must be based on looking at all of these aspects to find explanations or enlightenment.
The third hermetic law: The principle of vibration is " Nothing rests; everything moves; Everything vibrates." All things carry their unique energy, on all planes of existence. each particle in the universe has its unique energy, a vibrational frequency that has an impact on everything that surrounds it, thus the higher your energy is the more likely you will attract things with high energy.
Yuba then interrupted Numidia and said:" Enough, this is boring. It reminds me of ancient philosophies, basing their beliefs on spirituality and inexistent gods. The only thing I agree with is that as Socrates said: "The purpose of life was both personal and spiritual growth." Now come on I am hungry. let us eat then continue reading about these laws."
Yuba then left the library followed by Numidia and started heading towards the kitchen to fill their stomachs.
