Chapter 17

"F/n, where are you going?" I hear Akina ask while she catches my wrist while I walk down the hallway

"I was going to watch the boy's team practice," I say causing Akina to get a pained expression

"What's wrong?" I asked her and she looked down at the drown while she released my wrist

"I was hoping we could go to a tea shop, since we don't have practice." I hear her mumble, while a light tint of red covers her cheeks

"I already promised Kageyama I would come and watch," I said feeling back for not going with Akina, but at the same time I didn't want to let her down.

"Why that jerk?" Akina suddenly busted out saying causing my eyes to widened

"What do you mean?"

"He has caused you so much pain, he is the reason why you lost your memories!" She says angrily and I looked down at the ground

"Yea, I know." I shyly say because I hadn't told Akina or my mom that Kageyama told me everything

Both silence and awkwardness surrounded us in the now empty hallway.

"You knew, and still hung out with him?" She said in a saddened tone and I couldn't do anything but nod

"L/n, why?" She said and I finally looked back at her

"Because he was the only one who told me the truth," I say and she just stared at me in shock

"I didn't want to tell you the truth." She admitted before saying "I didn't want you to remember the pain he caused you, Hinata, or even Him." She said referring to Kageyama

"Why didn't you want me to remember him?"

"Because I knew you liked him.... Even if you hadn't noticed it yourself, you looked at him differently than you did everyone else. Almost like you were looking at an adorable puppy.... and I was jealous. So I didn't want you to remember him, and I tried to avoid even talking about him. I tried to stop you from talking to him... Even with everything I tried to do, you still found him.... and you still looked at him like a puppy." She said with redden checks

"Why would you be jealous, I spend most of my ti-"

"Because I like you!" She admitted with her fists clenched, while she stared at the ground wide-eyed, realizing what she just said.

My eyes widened realizing what she just said, and she quickly looked up, averting her eyes away from mine.

"I'll see you later F/n." She said hurriedly while she quickly ran down the hallway

'Akina likes me?' I think to myself but before I could get too deep into my thoughts a voice interpreted me

"You are still out here?" I hear Kageyama say and I quickly turned on my heel to face him

"Kagayama! Umm, did you just hear what happened?" I asked a bit flustered and he tilted his head while raising an eyebrow

"What did you trip on your own feet?" He asks and I pout a bit

"Why would I trip on my own feet?"

"Why else would you be standing here alone?"

"I dunno, you're my stalker so of course you know why." I tease and girns before saying

"Yea, because you tripped on your own feet." Earning a playful punch from me

"Ok, stalker," I say while I started to walk down the hall

"Ok, bully." He says while he catches up to me

"Wasn't I brat the other day?" I ask while we walk together

"Yea, well after that punch you upgraded to bully."

"Sureeeeee." I say while we make it to the volleyball gym

"LOOK AT THOSE LOVEBIRDS!" I hear Tanaka blush, causing me to turn bright red and I glance up at Kageyama who was a tint of red spread across his face.

"She was helping me with cleaning up." Kageyama lied, while I walked into the gym and joined Kiyoko

"I bet she was." Tanaka with a smirk of his face while he teased Kageyama

"Hey, Kiyoko!" I greeted with a smile and she quickly returned a smile

"Hey, L/n!, I've been meaning to ask you a question."

"Yea, what's up?" I asked and she handed me a flyer

"I was wondering if you knew of any first years that haven't chosen a club yet." She asked and I thought for a second

I don't know many people unlike Akina, she could talk to anyone and quickly become friends.

"Not right off hand, but I can ask my friend if she knows of anyone," I say then remember what happened earlier

'Because I like you!' Her words rung through my mind, while my head hung low

'What am I going to say to her?' I mentally ask myself, while a hand waved in front of me

"Earth to F/n." I hear Kageyama say and I quickly looked up at him to find his blue eyes staring at me, causing my heart to quickly speed up

"Huh? Yea?" I say while I felt my cheeks warm-up

"Are you going to be ok to practice afterward?" He asked worriedly while he placed his hand on my forehead, and I quickly jerk back at the touch of his cold skin

"What? Yea of course." I reassured him but instead, he gave me a weird look before running off to join the others.

"Somebody is in love." I hear Kiyoko say, reminding me of what Akina told me earlier

'I knew you liked him.'

Am I really that dumb to not even notice my own feelings?

"Alright let's clean up!" I hear Daichi say cuing me to start picking up balls

I felt a pair of eyes watching me, and I quickly glanced back to meet the owner of the pair of blue eyes. I gave him a weird look causing him to quickly look away before I continued to clean up.

Once everyone parted aways, I quickly slid on my shoes and walked towards Kageyama who tossed me a ball.

"So what are we working on today stalker-sensei?" I asked earning a slight blush from Kageyama, and he cleared his throat before saying

"Since tournaments are coming up here soon, we need to focus on your receives."

"They are not that bad!" I whined

"They are worse than Hinata's," He said and I pouted at his words

"Is not!" I argued and he raised his eyebrow at me

"Show me you receiving stance." He said and I stood up straight while I held my first together and held my arms straight out

I heard a sigh before I left pressure on the back of both of my knees causing me to bend them, and a hand pushing on my back to bend it.

"Now you should start out like this-" I started to listen while he reached over my shoulders and lightly traced his hand down to my wrists, and pulled my two hands apart.

"Typically you would start out like this so that way-" He continued to talk, but I got lost in his strong scent that now surrounded me, I didn't pay attention to him but I stared up at his focused eyes.

I felt his sigh on my neck, causing me to snap out of it. "Are you listening?" I hear him ask while he tapped me on the forehead

"Kind of," I admitted

"What, do I have something on my face?" He asked while he backed away from me

"Yea."

"What, and where is it?" He asked while he wiped his face

"Its a thing call stupidity, and its all over." I tease, and before I know it I'm running for my life

"You better hope I don't catch you!" He yelled at him while he chased me

"But you won't-" I start to taunt but a pair of arms wrapping around my waist made me freeze

I felt as he lifted me up in the air, and I quickly slapped at his shoulder while demanding that he release me

"Take it back!"

"Fine! I'm sorry!"

"For what?"

"Calling your face stupid..." I mumble while I stop struggling while I glanced down at him

His blue eyes quickly met with my y/e/c (Your eye color), but he had a different look on his face it wasn't cold but it wasn't angry... It was tender and soft.

"You know Kageyama." I say while I placed my hands on his cheeks before adding "You should let me down now."

He quickly complied and set me back on the ground, and silence filled the room

"I will spike you some." I hear him mumble to break the silence while he walked over and grabbed a volleyball

"Ready?" He asked and I nodded my head in response before he tossed the ball in the air and hit it directly towards me.

As he threw the ball in the air, I jumped a tad it to reset my stance and start at the tip of my toes and once the ball came at me I quickly received the ball and sent it back towards him.

"Beginners Luck" I hear him say while I catch my balance and reset my stance again while Kageayama this time spikes it to the right causing me to drive for the ball

"You not making this easy?" I asked while the ball headed back towards him and I quickly jumped back on my feet to return to my stance.

"Tournaments are coming up here soon, so I can't hold back." He said before spiking it again directly at me but this time harder.

We continue to go back and forth before I finally give in to exhaustion.

"I'm done," I say while I caught the ball, ending our cycle

"You are 10 times better than you were earlier." He said out of breath and I tossed him the ball we were using to put away.

"Man, I'm so tired," I complained while I took off my shoes and Kageyama joined me

"Have you talked to your doctors about being allowed to play?" Kageyama asked and I nodded

"Tomorrow, I can," I say with a smile and Kageyama looks sadly at me

"I guess then you will be off practicing with your team then?" He asked and I nodded

"We only have a week and a half until our first tournament, so I need to show them I am ready," I say while I hype myself up

"I guess you have missed out on a lot of practice time since everything that happened."

"Kageyama," I say and he looked down at me

"It wasn't your fault. So stop beating yourself up about it." I say while I swung my bag over my shoulder

"Yea but-"

"It was my decision to try and save that girl, not yours!" I say and he sighs while we both start to walk towards the door

"Yea but if I never yelled at you-"

"We wouldn't be friends. We would still be arguing daily, and trying to get out of each other's lives, blah blah blah." I say while I glanced back ay him "Everything happens for a reason." I say with a smile while I opened the door and a gust of cold wind caused me to quickly shut the door

"No, Nope, nuh-uh," I say while I rubbed my bare arms

"It's so cold," I complained, but before I could say anything else I felt a warm jacket pit on me and the door reopening causing me to snuggle into the jacket

"What are you thinking, you are going to catch a cold," I say while I try and return the jacket to him, but instead he zipped up the zipper

"I'll see you tomorrow L/n!" I hear Kageyama say before running off in the opposite direction of where I head

"I swear if you catch a cold its not my fault," I mumble into the jacket while I wave before heading towards Akina's house.

'It smells like him.' I think in aw while I tuck my head into the jacket
