Chapter Three: Happy Birthday

Before we knew it my thirteenth birthday arrived, we had planned a birthday party at the place where I lived. I had invited my friends and one of my favourite teachers from the school that I went to which they all showed up and they had brought me gifts, cards and so many more amazing presents. But that was not the only birthday present I received. I also was told about a birthday surprise but I had no clue as to what this birthday surprise was. I had to wait patiently although I was eager to know. The surprise had been itching my brain like I was just dying to know.

So it is now past my birthday, I had a good day. I am told by my carers that I'll be flying to Adelaide to go visit my mother for a surprise birthday party with family. I was super excited like I literally couldn't wait. I have had two visits at my home with both my mum and sister to now being able to fly with an adult to Adelaide to see the rest of the family who were dying to see me again.

The day I flew to Adelaide had arrived and yes I had to wake up super early to catch the early flight into Adelaide. I believe it was a two hour or something like that flight but it was so fun and so worth it. Once we had arrived in Adelaide, we had checked into our hotel which was super fancy by the way but I loved it so much.

When we arrived, we didn't exactly just check in then rush into things. We spent some time checking out the hotel and of course I couldn't run off by myself because I was a child at the time which honestly sucked. Like kids these days seem to run off away from their parent(s) when the parent(s) are distracted and not watching them. And the parent(s) are too distracted to even notice their child has run off. No, I'm not taking a dig at parents and how they parent. Just simply voicing my opinion. As I'm a parent myself now. But that's another story for another chapter as this one is about my birthday surprise party. So let's dig right in, shall we?

With a day or two passed as we had not planned to stay long in Adelaide, we eventually drove our way to my mum's place where the surprise party was held. And once we had arrived, not all the guests were there just yet but they did start arriving one by one or group by group fairly slowly before we knew it everyone had arrived. Presents were unwrapped. Conversation was made between family and family friends. Time sure does fly by when you are having the most happiest time of your life. I wish that this particular day never ends. Reuniting with my mum and her side of the family truly were the happiest moments of my life and I will never forget them.

With presents opened and conversations were made. Food was shared and consumed. Good times were shared and memories were made, memories I shall never ever forget. I'll always cherish this day. Everyone began to leave and started saying goodbye but this goodbye was not a goodbye forever kind of goodbye, it was more of a 'goodbye we shall see you again soon' kind of goodbye. Eventually everyone had left and so it was time for us (my key worker and I) to leave and get back to our hotel to begin packing in order to be ready to leave for the next day.

Once we had flown back to Taree NSW, Australia. My days had gone by as they usually would. I graduated Taree Public School in Year 6 then began high school at Chatham High School in the Special Ed Unit where I truly did not fit in. When I began Chatham High School I was in Year 7. And it was not just school. The Samaritans Home had their own little activities that they held and I had to attend even though at times I didn't want to. But as a child, there comes rules that we must follow and if not followed we would face the consequences of our actions because our actions speak louder than words. Remember that future children.
