Chapter 10: The Date

Aeris paced outside the bakery, fighting every urge within her to turn around and run straight home. Why did she agree to meet him again so soon? Was this a date? Did dragons go on dates? What was she supposed to do? How was she supposed to act? What should she wear?

Lilith had given her some tips, but Aeris couldn’t make sense of it. “Stay just outside of his reach without making him believe it’s impossible. Men won’t admit it, but they like to work for it,” Lilith had said. The rest of her lessons went out of her mind the moment she arrived at the bakery.

It bothered her that she hadn’t said a word about her date to Maggie. Lilith made her promise not to. “She’s far too protective of you,” she had said. “She wouldn’t understand.” Aeris wasn’t so sure but a promise was a promise.
