There was a brief silence. After giving Beta Eddy a dark stare, he decided to speak.
"I already told you guys she's not for sale. You may now leave Adira."
Alpha Ethan said without a blink.
Adira was happy with what she heard. She needed a way to leave the pack by all means, so she resolved to pull up an act if Ethan finally accepted.
"How about 50 million moonas?"
Lycan Chris sounded.
He focused his gaze on Alpha Ethan, expecting him to jump on the offer, but Ethan didn't make a move.
He quickly looked away from Lycan Chris.
His gaze was beginning to make him uncomfortable. He adjusted his seat, he was truly uncomfortable.
He signaled Adira to take a leave, but she wasn't paying attention to him.
Beta Eddy's eyes widened. He hated what he was seeing but just then he was already contemplating on what to do about it.
He was already looking out if there was a way he could get to Ethan through Adira.
"Okay, I'll double it. How about 100 million moonas?"
Lycan Chris sounded. The two focused their gaze on him, expecting him to jump on the offer.
Adira shut her eyes tightly, expecting Ethan to jump on the offer.
She muttered curses under her breath.
She knew how much her plans would be ruined if she was sold to a new home.
When Alpha Ethan stood up to speak, she shut her eyes tightly, fear plastered over her swollen face.
"I already said she's not for sale."
Ethan said for the last time, before standing up to leave.
He hated how awkward the situation had become, and he was beginning to regret inviting Lycan Chris to the palace.
Eddy's eyes widened in surprise, he couldn't understand what he had just witnessed.
The pack was in need of money and he couldn't believe the alpha would turn down 100 million moonas for a slave.
"You gotta be kidding me, Ethan.
He stood up to draw back his attention, but Alpha Ethan was long out of his reach.
He gawked at Adira who stood there confused. He hated what he just witnessed and his guts was beginning to tell him that something was still going on between the Alpha and Adira.
He bit his lips and was determined to take advantage of whatever the situation might be.
"You should know we haven't had a reasonable conversation since you came."
Beta Eddy said to Lycan Chris, who was equally confused with the whole situation.
"We have the whole day, my dear friend."
Chris responded.
He chuckled at the disgust written on Eddy's face.
He got up from his seat and proceeded to meet Adira.
Adira's heart began to beat with exertion as he began to approach her. She squirmed to the corner wishing for the ground to open and swallow her.
She hated that she drew attention wherever she went.
"Go on a dinner date with me."
Lycan Chris sounded casually, his gaze perfectly focused on her.
Beta Eddy let out a loud laugh, he was feeling so disgusted.
"You too?"
He asked surprised.
It was obvious he didn't seem to understand what was in Adira the two men were fighting for.
"Yes, my dear friend."
"She's a slave and human for fuck's sake."
"Does it matter?"
Chris responded.
"As long as she doesn't breed my pups."
He continued.
"Well, let me know when you're ready to have a reasonable conversation."
Beta Eddy sounded.
He shook his head in disbelief and left the room.
Adira was left alone with the Lycan in the living room.
Her head still bowed down, and her lungs gasping for oxygen.
She looked at her hands and could see her fingernails were getting longer.
She was anxious and now those strange transformations were beginning to appear again.
Although she didn't know what they were or why they appeared, she knew they appeared mostly when she was angry or anxious.
She bit her lips as she allowed fear to envelop her. Her face had become swollen and pale.
"Will you go on a date with me?"
Lycan Chris asked again.
He paused for a while, taking a good look at the figure before him.
He loved what he was seeing, and then he felt there was more to the fine face and body.
"I'm...I'm not worthy, Sir."
Adira responded.
Fear was plastered over her face, and she hated the tension that was beginning to build up between the two of them.
Lycan Chris stepped closer to her again, creating very little space between them.
This time, it was as if the two of them were breathing in the same air, he could feel the tension as well, and he loved his instincts were right.
"You don't have to be worthy, I'll make you worthy. "
Adira couldn't understand what was happening to her.
She was beginning to feel dizzy.
It seemed like a surge of energy was emanating from Chris, which was too much for her to handle.
She couldn't respond again, instead she lifted her hands in an attempt to block the energy.
But the more she tried, the more the energy overpowered her.
Suddenly, she felt a sudden force on her head. She gradually lost control of her surroundings.
She fell carelessly in Chris' hands who was expecting her to fall.
Just then, she passed out.
Chris laid her carefully on the floor.
He could see the small necklace that hung around her neck, and he felt the energy that emanated from it.
He reached for it in an attempt to pull it out from her neck.
He grabbed the gold necklace from her neck, and after he pulled it for the first time, he felt his hands heated.
"Shit!"
He cried.
His palm had sustained a deep burn from the necklace.
"Fortified?"
He asked rhetorically, angered by the injury he sustained.
He moved closer to Adira again, taking note of the details in her body.
He could see the dirty long nails that appeared, and the energy that was brewing around her chest.
He nodded at what he saw.
