Chapter 13 The System

As if today wasn't crazy enough, this would probably be the icing on top of a very awful cake. Jake had actually gone mad, or at least, that's what he thought. "Is my subconscious really playing tricks on me in this kind of situation? Or is u the feeling of doom that caused this"?
The notifications didn't stop there and more poured into his line of sight.
[ SECOND SOUL HAS BEEN UNLEASHED, ALL ABILITIES TRANSFERRING INITIATED]
[ERROR... ERROR... ERROR.. CURRENT HOST IS TOO WEAK, WOULD NEW CHOSEN LIKE TO BEGIN LOWEST PHASE]

"FUCK! Something definitely happened to me in that hospital. What the hell is this"?
"Hey dude, you OK? You've been holding your head for a while now".
Only after hearing those words did Jake realize his awkward position. He stopped thinking about it and tried his best to act normal.
"After all these two people probably cant see what I see, I need to be careful, wait a minute what of this thing is normal? Its been 2 years after all, maybe this is how people awaken powers nowadays, but what if its not"?
"These guys would think I have gone made, or will the military do fucking tests on me"?
"For now I need to keep this to myself..... But what should I do with this"?
As soon as he though about it, the same thing showed in his vision with two words promptly waiting his reply [YES\NO]
Not too far away, the faint rustling of bushes could be heard bringing a slight disturbance in the quiet forest.
"Shit! Its another beast, what the fuck is wrong with out luck"? Tucker inwardly cursed. He and Jesse were in no condition to fight.
Tucker had multiple wounds on his body and Jesse had a hole in her leg. The were both out of energy and physically exhausted. "I don't kno how this Dauntless thing works but they shoukd have already spent all their energy". Jake paled at that thought, he was completely defenseless and now he had to protect the people who were protecting him.
Sure enough, another beast came out of the forest and let out a loud shriek. It looked like a lizard as large as a human with wings on its back and a fully spiked tail. The scales on its skin looked like body armour and its long tongue looked like a whip.
Jesse had already started to lightly sob whole tucker was repeating two words. "WE ARE DEAD"!
Tucker looked at me and the look in his eyes clearly said one word, " Run". They were just sitting ducks and even jake could tell that this thing was a lot stronger than the former boar Beast they were fighting. "No way i can beat this thing, hell I don't even have an ability" jake inwardly retorted, the situation becoming far more dire.
The distance was relatively far but the lizard dashed forward and started to close the gap in a frightening speed.
"What the fuck"! Tucker was trying to transform but the more he tried, the more he bled out.
As a last ditch resort, Jake ran into the forest screaming and yelling at the lizard to grab its attention away from Tucker and Jesse.
There was no guarantee this would work, but it was the most stupid plan amyone could come up with. Jake weighed the situation, if it didn't work, jesse and Tucker are lunch and if it did, he would be the lizard monsters target but he had no other options.
Turns out it worked, the lizard ignored the two sacks of neat in a horrible state and tushed after the lively piece of meat trying to make a quick getaway.
Jake ran as fast as his legs could carry him, zigzaging around the trees hoping to slow down the lizard, but the it just smashed through the trees and continued its relentless pursuit.
Jake ducked down under a tree branch and ran up a small hill narrowly dodging the whip like tongue of the lizard that tried to wrap around his legs.
Upon reaching the top of the hill, Jake met a dead end with a wall blocking any further hopes of running.
"Damnit! A dead end". His pursuer had already caught up with him with bloodthirsty eyes ready to attack.
"Well I got nothing to lose now".
