Chapter 28-The Five-Year War

The world has changed dramatically over the past 5 years. The war between the rogue syndicate and their enemies has been ongoing for so long that it has become a part of everyday life for many people. During the previous 5 years, neither side has been able to gain an overwhelming advantage over the other. Both Ren and Kiyoshi's armies have expended significant amounts of manpower and resources in their attempts to win, but the situation has remained at a stalemate. Both sides are exhausted and worn down, but neither is willing to give in or back down from their fight. Ren and Kiyoshi's forces have become entrenched in the city, as both sides have developed their own territories and strongholds. The landscape of the city has become a fractured and divided one, as both camps have effectively established their own territories. The rogue syndicate's influence and control have effectively taken over some parts of the city, as they have created a safe haven for their followers and allies. In those areas, their presence is pervasive and all-encompassing, as they have essentially claimed them as their territory.

As for Ren and Kiyoshi themselves, they too have changed during these 5 years. Ren is now 23 years old. Ren "Crumbling Lotus" Kuzure is a man broken by the ravages of life and vengeance. Where once was a young, lively boy with a beaming smile and a passion for justice, now stands a void of despair and rage. His eyes, once a glowing emerald color, have turned dull and lifeless, their glimmer of hope extinguished by years of injustice and betrayal. Instead of the cheery smile he once wore, his face now bears a scowl, perpetually stuck in a frown of anger and hatred. His once vibrant and colorful clothing has been replaced with dull and dark layers, his hands scarred by years of battle. Yet, despite all he has been though, there remains a hint of the old Ren within, as the only love he has left is for the innocent people he once fought to protect. Despite the darkness that has consumed him, Ren still secretly works to defend the helpless and support the innocent, though his methods and deeds have become far crueler and more ruthless. His only mission now is to bring justice to a world that has wronged him and the ones he loves. With a deep-seated yearning for peace and a better world, he fights with a passion and a devotion to his mission, ready to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals, no matter the cost. When he stands against the corruption of this world, it is with a ferocity that rivals the raging fires that burn within his soul, yet there remains a faint whisper of the young boy he once was, a spark of the hope he once possessed, deep within the deepest recesses of his broken and shattered heart. This is the transformation of Ren Kuzure, once a cheerful, bright-eyed hero and role model at the Institute of Heroism, now a somber, harsh villain who has been consumed by vengeance and hatred. Even though he has lost himself in his mission and his methods have become crueler, the love of the innocent he still possesses fuels his determination and passion to bring a better world, one free of corruption and pain.

On the other hand, Kiyoshi who is also 23 years old now, has been deeply changed by the harsh realities of the war and the atrocities he has witnessed. He has become a force to be reckoned with, bringing all the strength, ferocity, and power of the natural world into the battlefield.

Ren's Awakened powers have made him a formidable opponent, and the heroes have not yet found a way to counter his power. The rogue syndicate's plan to wipe out the old generation from the city has largely been successful, as most of the old generation has been eliminated. Some survivors remain, but they are few and far between, with no hope of ever regaining their former power and influence again. The rogue syndicate have effectively destroyed the past and have paved the way for their new world order. The rogue syndicate's plan was to cleanse the city of the old generation heroes, and once they were gone, the rogues would disband and move on to create their new world. However, despite the elimination of the old generation heroes, the heroes renaissance is still pressing on with the war, determined to hold the rogues accountable and bring them to justice. This has put the rogues in a difficult position, as they can neither disband nor keep fighting indefinitely. It is a dilemma for the rogue syndicate, as their original plan has been disrupted. Their new world, which they had built on the death of their enemies, is threatened by the heroes renaissance, who are still fighting tooth and nail to keep the rogues from gaining too much ground. The rogues cannot disband, as they still have work to do in cleansing the city, but the heroes renaissance is determined to protect the innocent and prevent the rogues from achieving their ambitions. The rogues are caught between a rock and a hard place, with no obvious escape route or clear solution.

Public opinion in the city is divided, with many citizens supporting the rogues' vision of a new and free world while others align themselves with the heroes renaissance and its quest for justice. The rogue syndicate has made multiple attempts to end the conflict, offering to disband and move on if the heroes renaissance is willing to stop fighting. However, the heroes renaissance has ignored all of their appeals, believing that the rogues must be brought to justice and held accountable for their actions. This stalemate has led to a continued and endless conflict, with neither side willing to back down or yield ground.

 Kiyoshi himself wishes to end the war, seeing the damage and destruction it is causing and wanting to prevent further casualties. But, as the leader of the heroes renaissance, he is faced with pressures from many sides trying to push him toward a certain course of action. His peers and allies within the heroes renaissance is pressuring him to continue the war and destroy the rogue syndicate, while many citizens want the same, seeing the rogues as a threat to their security and way of life. The only way this war can come to an ending is through the defeat or death of one of the two leaders, Ren or Kiyoshi. Both are determined in their beliefs and are unwilling to back down or compromise. Only one can win, and as long as one of them stands, the war will continue until a victor emerges. In the end, one of the two leaders, Ren or Kiyoshi, will have to make a difficult decision and sacrifice their life for the sake of ending the war. No matter which one it is it is a tragedy and a waste of life for such a war to be so prolonged over the ideals and beliefs of its leaders. Enma has come up with a new plan to end the war and save both Ren and Kiyoshi from having to make such a sacrifice. The plan is ingenious and will ultimately be what brings peace and unity to the city. But what exactly the plan is, you'll have to wait to find out.
