Chapter 21 : I won't let go.

" Where were you anyways "? Hunter groaned as he walked, " You're a pig and a parrot. So many questions ". Annoyed, I swung my legs " Take that back ". Hunter glanced at me, " You do that one more time and you're walking back to the palace ".

I instantly pursed my lips and held on tighter to his neck, " I'll behave ". Honestly, I was too tired and lazy to walk back, so not cos I was scared of being separated from him again.

His voice broke the silence, " Did you get hurt "? I shook my head in a daze, " No ". Hunter sighed, " Good, how would I explain to those princes if you got hurt "? Resting my head on his shoulder, I smiled as I poked his cheek " Don't say that like you weren't worried about me too ".

I could feel Hunter rolling his eyes as I giggled, still poking his cheek " Come on, say it ". He frowned, " Say what "? I smiled mischievously, " That you care about me. Come on, say it. Don't be shy ".

I opened my eyes suddenly as I jolted out of the bed, " Tyler "!? My eyes weren't completely adjusted to the dark and unsurprisingly I fell out of it. I landed on a hard pillow and sat up, looking out the window now in front of me.

The sky was already changing into a somewhat orange colour which meant it would soon be morning. I mumbled to myself, " I hate nightmares, cut into my sleeping time ". I heard a soft chuckle underneath me, " Miss Sydney never did seem like a morning person ".

I jumped with fright, already trying to scramble off of him " I'm so sorry, I didn't realize..... " and paused. " Wait, what did you call me "? He propped himself on his elbows, slight smirk on his ever charming face, " Forgive me but I can only address you as Sydney ".

I slapped his cheeks lightly, " Tyler? as in, in the cornfield stuck with me Tyler "? He nodded and held my hand gently and I suddenly wrapped my hands around his neck, " I really thought you left me alone here, and I'm really sorry about yesterday ".

I must sound like a spoilt brat but it's really scary being in a place that's supposed to be a figment of my imagination. I'm pretty sure I'd have gone insane or become extremely paranoid if I was left by myself [ Kinda worse than a pandemic ]

And then I'd almost singlehandedly killed the only somewhat reliable companion I'll ever get close to getting and besides, how will I get home without his help. Who'll protect me if I make dumb and reckless choices again?

" Are you crying "? I blinked, realizing my vision was blurry and sniffed " I'm not crying, you are ". I could seriously feel the smirk on his lips as he laid back down, " Are you planning on letting go "?

I shook my head, " No, what if you leave me again "? He sighed, " Alright, wanna tell me why you're screaming my name before sunrise "? [ Is he teasing me? ] I turned red slightly and buried my head deeper into his shoulder, " Don't make me regret this ".
