Chapter 23

After being discharged from the hospital, Li Yexing and Lilith immediately returned to Roples.

Standing outside the office building, Li Yexing looked at the small building. Several days ago, several groups of people had engaged in a fierce firefight around their small office building. Seeing that the building was still standing undamaged, Li Yexing was somewhat surprised.

With Lilith by his side, they walked up the stairs. Li Yexing habitually took out the key from his pocket and looked up at the lock, then his expression became somewhat strange.

Before long, an old man with a scruffy beard came to the door on a tricycle. He replaced the windows and door locks without expression, as the bullet holes all over the room were nothing but a minor issue in his eyes. After receiving his payment, the old man happily left.

After cleaning up, the room finally returned to the standard of being barely livable in Li Yexing's eyes. He took a shower with Lilith, put on clean clothes, opened a can of cold beer, lit a cigarette, and sat on the freshly cleaned sofa, taking a long breath of air, and enjoying the rare peace and quiet.

In fact, there were still many things to be done. The rent for the warehouse had not been paid to Sawyer yet. The weapons probably needed to be replaced. The gang and the military would soon come knocking to inquire about what had happened that night. The troubles behind him were still piled up.

Lilith walked over, sat on Li Yexing's lap, and leaned on his chest. The petite girl rubbed her face against Li Yexing's neck. Li Yexing put down his beer and hugged Lilith's waist, enjoying a moment of peace.

What troubles? Li Yexing forgot them all.

"It feels so nice..." Lilith whispered in his arms.

"You're right, it's nice..." Li Yexing echoed. With the intelligence provided by Kelly, the BSAA would soon take action against the illegal research organization that created Lilith. Those guys would have no time to bother him then. After experiencing a life-and-death battle, he and the monster girl in his arms finally came together.

The two smiled at each other, and the atmosphere between them seemed to be slowly heating up. Li Yexing gently kissed Lilith on the lips, and she immediately leaned in and responded passionately.

They didn't know how long they kissed. It wasn't until Li Yexing was a bit out of breath that their lips separated. Lilith Liss's white cheeks were tinged with a faint blush, her eyes were blurred, and her pink tongue gently licked her lips as if she was about to lean in again, looking a bit unsatisfied.

"How greedy you are." Li Yexing playfully flicked Lilith's small nose.

"Hehe..." Lilith giggled foolishly, then leaned in again, her soft lips pressing against Li Yexing's mouth. With a little force, Li Yexing was pressed down onto the sofa by Lilith.

They didn't know how long they kissed again. Li Yexing was panting and complaining, "Are you trying to suffocate me?"

Lilith sat on Li Yexing's body, her hands propped on his chest, her eyes flashing red. That gaze was like a shy and innocent girl looking at her lover, at the same time it was like a ferocious predator sizing up its prey.

"Lilith likes Li Yexing..." With a slightly strange tone, Lilith slowly pulled open her shirt with her hand, and Li Yexing, who was under her, swallowed hard when looking at that beautiful body and the now strange Lilith.

"No fucking way..."

As the evening approached and dusk arrived, Li Yexing struggled to climb up from the sofa. A small, white hand reached out to him from underneath, but he gently pushed it away and said to Lilith, who was lying on the sofa looking at him, "Alright, I'm dead tired and have no energy left, let's do it at a later time."

Lilith hugged the sofa cushion and rolled over, then squatted on the sofa with half of her head peeking out from behind the cushion. Her beautiful red eyes stared at Li Yexing, who was getting dressed.

"You should get dressed quickly, we still have to eat... What should we eat tonight?" Li Yexing said to Lilith and then muttered to himself with his back to Lilith. Suddenly, a pair of snow-white arms stretched out from behind and wrapped around his chest, and the naked Lilith pressed tightly against his back.

"Why are you so clingy? Are you a puppy?" Li Yexing laughed and patted Lilith's arm, "Don't mess around, go get dressed."

Lilith released her arms around Li Yexing and went to the side to get dressed. Li Yexing, who had put on his clothes, casually opened his computer and then went to the kitchen to open the refrigerator. There wasn't much left in the fridge, only some miscellaneous seasonings, a few eggs, and some leftover rice from the curry he cooked the other day.

Li Yexing smiled and lit the stove, cut some carrots and onions into thin strips, heated some oil in the pan, added the eggs, then the white rice, and various seasonings and condiments. Li Yexing skillfully stir-fried everything with a spatula, then turned around and saw Lilith leaning against the kitchen door, looking at him with shining eyes.

A strong sense of deja vu flooded Li Yexing's heart.

"You look just like that when we first met," Li Yexing couldn't help but laugh and say, "you're the same, standing there looking at me and I'm also the same cooking here with my back to you...and we even have the same egg fried rice."

Lilith didn't say anything, just looked at Li Yexing reminiscing about the past.

Soon the meal was ready, and Li Yexing took out two plates and smiled at Lilith while saying, "But this time, don't hug the pot to eat, okay?" Lilith laughed happily.

Two plates of fried rice were placed on the table. Li Yexing sat across from Lilith and watched as she scooped the fried rice into her mouth with a spoon, her face full of happiness.

"During these days in the hospital, I didn't get to eat the food you made..." Lilith said, "I didn't have much appetite."

"It's okay, you're back now. We agreed that I would cook for you every day," Li Yexing replied.

"We did." Lilith nodded happily.

Li Yexing looked out the window at the lights of Roples' night, which was very different from the nights he knew in his previous life. The world of Resident Evil was also very different from the world he was familiar with in his previous life.

Perhaps life in the future would not be smooth sailing, and conspiracies and struggles would never be far away from this mad dog Roples, but when he turned his head and looked at the silver-haired girl sitting in front of him, Li Yexing smiled.

"I think... this life is not bad at all."
