Chapter 021

"Smithy right?" Wes asked.

"Yeah, that's right," the Owner said getting a look at Wes as he emerged from the back room,

"And your the lad that came in a bit ago."

"Right, that's me," Wes laughed nervously.

"Tell him why we're here, Wes," piped in Kaleb.

"Right, I was wondering if you have any healing potions?" Wes asked.

"Well i'd have a pretty crappy shop if I didn't!" Smithy bellowed.

Walking over to a shelf, Smithy picked up a large crate and brought it over to the counter.

"These are the cheapest I got, since I know ya so we'll," Smithy chuckled.

"How good are they," Kaleb asked Smithy.

Looking at the potions, Wes used his inspect skill.

[Inspect]

Name: Basic Health Potion

{This Potion Heals 5 Health}

"They are the basic of basic," Smithy admitted, "but dirt cheap."

"How much?" Wes asked Smithy

"I'd sell em to ya, 3 for a copper," Smithy replied.

"That is dirt cheap," Wes agreed,

"I'll take nine."

"Same here," added Kaleb.

Exiting the shop, Kaleb beginnings leading Wes over to the Front Entrance.

At the gate, Wes could see why the guards were confused during his arrival. Where Wes had come in through the Kings Entrance, the one here was much more noticeable.

Banners and statues of past Underworld Hero's lined the path leading out of the City's Walls.

"Why does the king have his own entrance?" Wes said aloud.

"Wha…how do you know about that?" Kaleb said surprised.

"That's where the guards found me," Wes told Kaleb.

"You must really have a death wish," Kaleb said.

"Whys that?" Asked Wes, curious.

"Well it's the Kings Entrances, which mostly means it's an entrance for the guards to train around, away from other Adventurers," Kaleb informed Wes.

"We'll be able to use it in a few years," Kaleb then told Wes.

"In a few years?" Said a confused Wes.

"Well yeah," Said Kaleb,

"We ARE in the Guard Training Academy, after all,"

"Only way we would be able to, is if we died or something."

Kaleb then laughed as if he said something funny.

But Kaleb's words worried Wes. He started to think alittle bit more about Kaleb had told him.

He had no idea that Rita had signed him up for the Guard Training Academy. It made him mad that someone else had basically chosen his future for him.

'What the hell' though Wes

'Does that mean I'm gonna be stuck being a boring Guard forever?'

He shuttered at the idea. He wasn't just about to lay down his life for king and country. Wes wanted to be free, to do as he pleased, to complete Quests, and Make to something out of himself.

'I'm gonna take this world, for everything it's got!'

He had decided, and he wasn't about to waste away years of his life sitting in a guard tower.

Making their way out of the entrance, they came to a group of guards.

"Quest slip?" One of the guard said as he held out his hand.

Looking over at Kaleb, Kaleb gave a slight nod of approval.

Handing over the slips Ralph had given them before they left, the guard took a minute to inspect them before handing them back.

"Do you have flares?" The guard then asked.

"No sir," Kaleb chimed in.

Reaching into a bag, the guards hand emerged with two red flares.

"Toss these up if your having trouble," he instructed.

"And make sure you stay in the beginner zone, if you don't want to die," he then warned.

Taking the flares, Kaleb stored his, safely in his ring, while tossing the other to Wes.

Placing it in his pocket, Wes tried hard to ignore the weird look from Kaleb.

"Be safe," the guard said lastly, as he, and the rest of guards, moved aside.

They told the guard they would, before moving on, to the Quests that lay ahead, outside the City's walls.
