Chapter 12

March 13.

Switching the job, Anna sits at the counter replacing the brown hair girl while arranging the desk and putting down her bread. Sorting the documents that keeping the borrower details in the file, Anna bows her head low putting all of her focus on the task.

"There will be someone coming for this book, so just keep it here."

The book with a brown cover was placed beside the stationery, after the brown hair mentioned it only then Anna realized that there is a book there. Nodding her head, Anna replies to the brown-haired girl who is older than her by three years. The brown hair girl quickly walks out after confirming the young girl received the notice, with her other two friends walking out together, Anna suddenly heard their conversations.

"Is it the new girl you mentioned before?"

"Yes, that's her. Now you understand my points right."

"Hahaha, she's so looser."

The three of them laugh together leaving the library, by the time the door closes, Anna stops her hands and sitting on the chair heaving a sigh. No matter what she did, everyone will see her as a weird freaking girl. She knows her colleagues had been gossiping about her for the past year, it is just none of them had said it directly to her face which makes her still able to hold on till now.

Compared to how she had been living for the past two years as soon as she been kicked out, Anna comforts herself that all of this will be temporary, and after she graduates, she can live far away from here and start her new life surrounding with strangers who will not pay attention to her. By that time, there will be no one who will call her a freak, or any other nickname that they had used on her in the university.

Continue doing her work, Anna stands up behind the counter and started organizing documents in the rack before eating her bread for her lunch. As usual, Anna will put all her assignments or task if she has on the desk so she can finish them, however since there is no new task for today, Anna only put her notebook on the desk. The notebook with a black cover lying on the desk taking some space beside the standing book, staring at the book, with curiosity Anna pull it out wanting to see the title.

"Ding!"

The door's bell rang, feeling shocked, Anna pulls her hand down and moving the chair back to its previous place. Looking at the door, Anna saw the two people from yesterday walking in, withdrawing her eyes, Anna opens her notebook to make herself busy.

The two figures walking straight to the stairs which will bring them to the second floor. the boy watches the librarian from yesterday since both of their eyes had met just for a second before the other party withdraws. With a cold face, the boy ignores the other behavior and walking following her friend to the second floor.

"Had you notice?"

The girl who walks in front of the guy said in a small voice while climbing the stairs. At first, the girl wanted to smile at the girl, however after her eyes met with the librarian, the girl hides away ignoring them. This action can be interpreted into various meanings, such as the girl didn't like meeting other eyes, or maybe the girl has some issue with them without them being aware of it. but if the girl didn't notice the panic and fear inside those pair of black and dark eyes, maybe she will reconsider those reasons.

"You saw her looking at me?"

"What do you mean she looking at you? It obvious that her eyes met mine."

With a hint of dissatisfaction, the girl replies with a snort. She is the one who walks at the front, her high shoes make her have the same high as the boy. Arrived on the second floor, the girl keeps on walking straight to the nearest bookshelves that contain mathematical books. Today their goals are to search for a couple of mathematic books that can help her in advanced algebra since she currently working on a new project that needs her to come out with a new robot.

The boy follows the girl while pondering their conversation just now. The fact that their eyes met and the fact that he also met the girl's eyes seem a bit weird. How can both of them feel the same when both of them clearly walk at different sides of angels. He still remembers the dark eyes that met his, the eyes that can suck him into the abyss with no bottom. The pair of eyes got no feeling at all.

"What, you still didn't believe in me? I clearly saw how panic she was by the time our eyes met."

Sitting at the inner side, the girl put her bag on the table with her eyes show empathy to the librarian. The boy stunt, hand stuck in the air, his pupils shrank a little. Sensing there is no reaction from the boy, the girl tilts her head up looking at the boy with his statue-like.

"What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing. I might see wrongly then."

Waking up from his thought, the boy sits while putting his thing out from the bag onto the table. Seeing the boy back to his normal state, the girl ignores him before getting up to start finding the books. Arranging his things, the boy suddenly stops and fondles his hands and putting them under his chin continue thinking the girl's words.

On the first floor, Anna continues with her task while eating the bread in the small piece one and another. Although she is still afraid about the meeting eyes incident, Anna still tries her hard to make it seems like didn't happen at all. The feeling of afraid getting notice still lingers especially after she is being warned by the group of students inside the class to keep her eyes low which making them feel sick.

Just thinking that the girl will feel sick from her eyes, Anna suddenly sits with a heavy breath. She feels suffocated with the anxiety making her body wet from the excessive sweats. If only she didn't tilt her head up due to the shock, for sure her eyes wouldn't meet with the girl. Throwing the feeling away, Anna keeps her focus back on her task in sorting the borrower data who had yet returned the book for today's due.

While making a note for the other librarian who is responsible for sending the notice to the borrowers, a man with a white custom shirt walks into the counter. Sensing the presence of the customer, Anna stands up giving her greeting.

"Yes sir, is there anything I can help you with?"

Anna only looks at the guy's neck, using her bangs to cover her eyes, the man who is unable to notice it just answers her question without delay.

"I'm here to get my book, I've called you in the morning asking for the book."

Surprise, Anna quickly walks to the stationary which only took her four to five steps. Grabbing the book, Anna saw the title of the book which is one of the Oakstead history books that still exist in the town. There are not many left, but because she loves reading the most, she had encountered the book located at the geometry bookshelves in her leisure time. The man thanks her and walk out of the library. Through the window, she sees the man get into a police car which makes her feel weird.
