I rushed toward the suite where Sophie and her sisters had been staying, knowing full well she wouldn't have gone back to my room. Though, deep down, I wished she would have. I wanted her to think of my space as her space, too. But after walking out of the council meeting with my parents rather than with her. . . I blew out a breath, anxiousness clutching my chest.
Stopping in front of her door, I knocked hard and loud. Several long moments passed before the massive wooden door finally swung open. But Sophie wasn't on the other side. Isach was.
He blocked the doorway. "Are you lost?" he asked, his tone harsh with accusation - which I totally deserved.
"I need to speak to Sophie," I said, out of breath.
"Too bad. She doesn't want to see you." Isach moved to slam the door in my face.
