Reincarnation

"This is…", George muttered as 14 years' worth of memory were forced into his brain.

They depicted the life of his body's previous owner: George Lionheart. Born as the first heir of a Count Household in the Sarad Kingdom, which was famous for its military strength, George had undergone an extremely rigorous training that allowed him to reach the preparatory knight realm.

Strong and well-versed in swordsmanship, George could also be considered handsome. In the end, his father who had connections with a Magus allowed his son to join a magical academy and hopefully return as a strong acolyte, or even a Magus. After all, if George was talented enough, returning as a mere level 2 acolyte would allow the Lionheart Household to rise in status for generations, not to mention if he were to become a Magus.

George ignored everything of his reincarnation, yet he could remember this character, who was more of a playboy than a charismatic leader. Still, George had proved trustworthy, talented and reliable in the story. However, his body had so much more potential. He could remember that George had awakened grade 5 talent, which was far better than Leylin, the main character from the story. Becoming a magus with this kind of talent was a given, as long as he meditated on a daily basis and didn't waste magical resources.

George's eyes widened when he heard a mechanical voice in his head.

"Isn't this an AI Chip?"

He found it very difficult to believe. Hours ago, he was still reading the 60th chapter of a webnovel he had found on the internet, one which had captivated him since the very first chapter.

His photographic memory allowed him to grasp the situation he was in very fast.

[Beep! Full scan! No extraneous systems were found in the master's mind!]

These were familiar mechanical words.

"So I reincarnated in the book Warlock of the Magus World, huh...", George muttered in a low voice, "Body Scan"

Another mechanical sound reverberated in his head.

[Beep! Scanning is complete!]

'Attributes near 2.0 on average. Seems like George truly was a preparatory knight', he analysed

George took a look at himself, and found his new physique quite satisfactory. He could be said to be one of the most charming youths within carriage, no inferior to those noble heirs.

Most of the magus apprentices in the carriage possessed stats similar to adults. It was quite the impressive feat, since they were only teenagers. This meant that they spent a considerable amount of time training. Most possessed a sword, or at least a dagger to protect themselves. Behind their childish faces lied the legacy of knight noble houses that were engraved in their muscles and joints.

Taking a look outside, George could identify a dozen black-robed knights. He could remember that they were elite knights, with secret knight techniques allowing them to unleash strength far surpassing the realm of normal humans.

One of them entered the carriage. He looked like a middle-aged soldier, and he had a scar on his face that stretched from his forehead to his lip. It pretty much split his entire face in half, and he looked extremely fierce for it. Most aristocrats in the carriage instinctly moved backwards as he approached. They were not used to the horrors that awaited them. And the man's disfigured face was only a glimpse of it.

Following his memories, he formally bowed and said, "Thank you for your service, Sir!"

The black-robed knight nodded in acknowledgement and served him a portion of food. It was a nutritious soup made of local vegetation, rabbit meat and there was also a loaf of white bread. It was quite the luxurious meal, considering that they were located in the [Great Plains of Death], an infamous territory that was unkind to Men.

In this place, insects were capable of poisoning an adult cow to death. Of course, the biggest dangers were related to packs of dire wolves and bandits who were preying on travelers. Fortunately, there were three magi and a dozen black-robed knights tasked with defending him and the other apprentices from those dangers.

A couple of youths followed his actions and accepted the meal from the frightening black-robed knight, before approaching him. From his newly acquired memories, he could put names and titles to these youths. Some were sons and daughters of viscounts, counts or even dukes. Of course, the one who caught his attention was a young woman who possessed quite the nefarious reputation: Evangeline Crown, a princess.

Although nobody noticed, George knew that her only 'friend' was actually a knight-level bodyguard with quite the strong stealth techniques. He had noticed how silent his steps were, and each one of his movement was beyond precise and accurate.

After finishing his meal, George sat in an isolated corner and started to breath in a rythmic and monotous way. This was the Lionheart's breathing technique, which was known to circulate life force in one's body. Even if the cultivator had yet to awaken life force and wasn't yet a knight, it would still be beneficial to the body and raise its attributes.

It was said to have been created by the Lionheart's family founder: Arthur Lionheart, a famous Grand Knight who had slayed magical beasts in the past, protecting the Sarad Kingdom for decades. The Lionheart family had not produced any Grand Knight since then, but its knight legacy and access to high-quality iron mines led the household to gain a lot of influence in the Sarad Kingdom.

George, who clearly remembered the legacy left behind this hero, decided to refine his body and techniques before the incoming dire wolf attack. He might have a strong body, but he had to get used to the Lionheart Swordsmanship if he wanted to survive the incoming dangers
