Chapter 1: New Life

Ryu had been in a daze all day long.

He just roamed like a zombie for the last week.

But you can't blame him, his life had taken a complete 180.

From a decent life with great friends, good grades, and a beautiful girlfriend. You would expect someone like him to be happy.

But, in just 1 week his life changed drastically.

In college, Ryu was pretty well known. He wasn't some attractive future model, just a nice guy. He had also been working a part-time job to pay for his school expenses. But it all changed when 'He' showed up.

Ryu's whole perspective on life changed when a new student arrived.

He was good-looking, tall, and rich. He had it all. His girlfriend, Sidney broke it off with him right in front of his face. Ryu was in shambles, they had been together for 2 years and she just broke it off just like that? for some guy she didn't even know.

After this, his girlfriend and the new guy started spreading rumors about Ryu. How nasty and disgusting he was behind the scenes, what horrible of a guy he truly was. Just pure lies for no reason other than to sabotage his reputation and make themselves look good.

He denied all of this of course, but people still didn't believe him. Due to how popular the rumor had become it eventually reached the ears of staff members. Which then reached the headmaster of the school.

On that fateful day, he was called into the office, and forced to drop out. With his social and school life over he was just lost for a couple of days. With debt and college expenses looming over him he just tried his best to ignore it. 

But the tragedy didn't stop there, the place he always worked at, a well-known burger spot in the neighborhood had recently gone bankrupt and forced to close down. Meaning, he was fired and had to find a new job.

Using the last couple of thousands he saved up over the years, he bought himself a small and cheap apartment along with a bike to get around town. And with that, he was broke with just a final 100$ to his name.

As he rested on the wooden and dingy bed inside the apartment he just sighed and wondered where it all went wrong.

And he realized it all started when that guy came to his school. In the beginning, he tried to compete but to no avail. With average looks, average height and not coming from a rich background it was clear who would win.

To stop himself from thinking about it any longer, he laid his head down and fell asleep quickly.

Ryu woke up to his head thumping intensely, he got up and drank a sip of water. He opened his phone and checked the time.

But the notification right under that is what surprised him.

"W-What!? this has to be a joke!"

"Must be some silly joke by some hackers.."

He opened his bank account on his phone.

[Name: Ryu]

[Balance: 1,000,000,100$]

"My 100 dollars is still there...still, must be a fake balance."

"Hm...well even if it is fake, won't hurt to try it..."

"Not like it will work..."

He opens up Amazon and goes to buy something expensive. he clicks and finds a 1000$ bed.

"let's see..."

"This is so stupid..."

He'd put his credentials and bank number along with his shipping address.

"Now let's see if it works...."

A couple of seconds pass, "See. I knew I-"

"W-What?....h-holy shit....it..it worked?!"

he instantly picks his phone back up and checks his balance again.

And sure enough, it went down.

He backed up in disbelief. He was stunned and just silent. He wanted to talk but no words came out.

"Wha..?...h-how...where?...where did this money even come from? it's truly hard to believe."

Just then, a holographic panel appears before his eyes.

".....What the hell..."

"Am I still dreaming? so...is this the reason for that sudden occurrence of money?"

Ryu immediately opens the quest bar.

[Quest #1: Spend 100,000$ on a car.]

"I have to spend that much on my first quest? seriously!?"

Putting on a grey sweater, some black jeans, and black sneakers he was ready to go.

"Well, here I go."

At a big dealership, 2 people waited at the reception table.

One older woman and one younger woman.

Ryu walks up to the reception quite nervous.

The older woman with dark hair and silver glasses looks up at Ryu with disdain.

'What the hell is this beggar-looking man doing in this high-value dealership?'

"Hello, sir. Lost?" she says, with a hint of scornfulness in her voice.

"No, I'm just looking to buy a car."

"A car?....you?"

"U-Uh...yes.."

"Sorry to inform you, but~ we only sell high-value cars. So cars for people like you aren't available here.." She snickers after finishing her sentence.

'Is this bitch trying to make fun of me?... I have enough money to buy this whole place...just forget it.'

Ryu smirks, "Is that so? well, I'm glad. Because I'm not one of those people."

The lady almost burst into laughter.

"Well, go look around.."

The lady looks at the younger girl beside her.

"Quickly, go get security and the manager. We're about to embarrass and kick this guy out. Hahaha!~"

Ryu looks around at the cars and finds one going for $103,400.

It was on display and was in his price range for the quest.

"2023 Porsche Boxster Spyder..." he read the label of the car.

Just then an aging man in a brown suit with a tall security guard stood behind him.

the reception lady also arrived not long after.

The manager then speaks, "I heard you were causing trouble in my establishment. I'm gonna have to ask you to leave, it's not like you can afford that car anyway."

Ryu just starts to laugh, "Me? I can buy this whole place if I want to...but I'll let you keep it."

"This little arrogant punk!.." A vein pops out of the manager's forehead.

"Then buy the car if you're so confident."

"Sure!"

Ryu pulls out his card.

He walks over slowly and swipes into the machine.

They all have smug looks on their face, expecting it to not go through and decline.

But to their surprise...

[Transaction Successful.]

In unison, they all scream, "WHAT!?!"

Ryu just smiles bitterly and hops into his brand-new car.

"Ahem...the keys."

The manager instantly rushes over with the keys.

"S-Sorry for the misunderstanding sir! please be sure to come back!.."

Ryu just pulls off with the car and is soon gone.

The wind blows past his face at rapid speeds, a smile rises on his face.

"This is the greatest day of my life!~"
