Chapter 13

As we were resting, I looked in to my supply bag to take out some food. as I reach in, I use my Inventory skill to get a fresh looking piece of meat, with blood still dripping off of it. before it could stain my bag I used wind and fire magic to quickly dry the meat.

As I take a bite I get a notification :

「Consumed Copperback Goliath, Gained Skill Horn Charge 12%」

I had acquired the copperback's meat when I was attacking its leg, as my gauntlet was nailed in its leg I used Inventory to gather the sliced pieces. after the we were finished resting, I had finished most of the meat I had and got the skill to 「33%」

the Copperback didn't have enough time, nor did we let it use its legs to use any attacks nor skills. all it could do was thrash around.

As the hunt continued, I kept seeing the skills of my part members. As Lukas used his magic I got a better understanding of what was happening, like when he chants a spell his neutral raw mana comes out from his body whilst transforming into a designated type, it then gets ingrained as runes and spell circles in the air, which then farther transforms the mana to create the effect of the chanted spell.

After mana has been used from Lukas' body, I saw a slow but steady stream of mana going from outside world to Lukas, slowly recharging his mana reserves.

A similar thing happened to others when they used abilities that needed mana, especially Maika, in the first hunt I saw her use sword light, that first looked like the whole blade was covered with blinding light. but after further inspection I realized that mana only covered the edges of her sword. and when she swung the sword, the mana was left behind in the air as the swing proceeded from one point to another. and only when the swing was finished did the man a fly forward with the collected energy, maintaining the swings length and shape.

After one day was done and we killed 4 more Goliaths, I had finished the skill 「Horn Charge」whilst mostly everyone was asleep, I went into the bushes under the premise of answering natures call, I used my new skill.

As the skill was activated I felt the need to punch or rush forward. because I didn't want to risk it, I slowly punched and as I swung I saw mana forming around my fist, resembling a crescent moon which was protecting my hand whilst also lowering air resistance.

this skill didn't seem to useful, considering its primary function is to protect my fist, but it could be used to protect my gauntlets whilst also using it for attack functions( if I found any).

After 1 day of hunting my skills looked like this:

On the second day when we were finishing our first hunt, Sal (the Archer) sensed something big with multiple small others coming towards us. As we got into formation and set up an escape rout, we waited to see what was coming towards us.

The formation was 1.1.2.1. With Maika as the vanguard, Zack behind her, Lukas and Sal, and finally me as the rear guard.

Our enemies rushed out into the plains, and in front of us was a literal stampede, at the front was an adult Copperback Goliath with high ranking goblins on its back with bows and magic staves. What followed behind the Goliath were young and baby goliaths with singular goblin spearmen on their backs, In total there were 11 Copperback Goliaths and around 50 Goblins.
