Journey to Tennessee

"Max, Stephanie get your things downstairs. your dad's getting impatient", Amelia called from downstairs. Her husband was already rushing through the front door to his car.

" Are we going to the beaches ?", Max asked as he hurriedly walked after his dad.

Amelia followed behind him with Stephanie, "Tennessee is not like California, where you see a lot of dope beaches".

" Yeah, and you have to be of your best behavior ", Joe, their dad said as he entered the driver's seat.

Max and Stephanie entered quietly.

" Bye mom", they said and waved until their house was out of sight.

It was summer holiday, Joe and Amelia had planned that the children would spend the holiday at Mrs. Lara Beverly's house. Lara was Amelia's elder sister. Mrs. Beverly had been asking of the kids so she'd be so happy to see them at her place. Amelia already informed her that the kids would be arriving by 2pm considering that they started the journey early.

Mrs. Beverly was standing by the gates with groceries in her hands when Joe drove in with the kids.

"Hey", Josh and Stephanie greeted. They sure didn't bargain for an old woman. Mrs. Beverly was a lot more older than their mom, she looked like she was in her late fifties.

" Kids, this is Mrs. Beverly. You're gonna have a great time with her ", Joe said.

" How's Amelia?", Mrs. Beverly asked Joe.

"She's better than when I married her", Joe said with a grin.

" Mrs. Beverly cackled amusedly, "I'm looking forward to seeing her soon", she said.

" OK, I've got to be going ", Joe said, " Bye kids, bye Mrs. Beverly ".

The kids told him their " byes" with a don't-leave-us-here look. Joe didn't mind them, he knew they'd enjoy their stay. With that, he entered his car, waved them good bye again and zoomed off.

The kids gave each other stupid glances before turning back to Mrs. Beverly.

"You must be hungry, let's go inside", Mrs. Beverly said with a smile.

I hope you enjoy this book, it's a slow burn thriller. About three sisters whose past starts haunting them. Please be patient with me ad this is my first book on web novel.
