CHAPTER FIVE

"My sister's pancake is always the best!" Victor said excitedly.

Rosa winked.

As they ate dinner, Andrew looked up at Rosa. "How was your blind date with Joshua? You didn't say anything about it."

Rosa sighed. "I turned him down again, Father."

"Why? You seemed to get along," Juliana said, sounding disappointed.

"He doesn't seem like the kind of husband I want for my future," Rosa replied.

"What kind of husband do you want?" Andrew asked.

"A soft-spoken man with principles," Rosa answered.

Fabian rolled his eyes. "Why do women always want the opposite of what they are?"

Rosa gave him a look. "What do you mean? I'm a child of God now, and I have gotten very much calmer"

"Calmer?" her three brothers echoed in disbelief.

Andrew and Juliana burst out laughing.

Unbothered, Rosa rolled her eyes and continued eating.

Their meal was interrupted by a knock on the door.

One of the maids quickly answered it.

To their surprise, it was Joshua Clement—the blind date Rosa had turned down.

The cheerful and handsome young man greeted everyone warmly and joined them for dinner.

After dinner, Rosa walked him to his car.

"Rosa, could you consider giving me a chance to date you for two months? If, by the end of that period, you find it unsuitable, I promise to gracefully step back." He made a sudden request when they got to the car.

Rosa sighed, disapprovingly. "Two months does seem too long, though."

"Do you have anyone in mind, Rosa?"

She did, but it was only a man from her imagination.

Quiet, humble, and gentle.A man who lived a very quiet life... somewhere on an island... even if he lived on Mars, she would find him.

"My ideal man is in a Christian romance novel I read ten years ago."

She was surprised to see the shock on his face.

"Are you really twenty-eight years old, Rosa Anderson?" he asked, shocked.

She shrugged. "I think I'm still eighteen."

Then she walked back to the house.
