Chapter Twenty Two

“Hello, Phoenix,” Arthur and Chi both greeted me when I walked out of the bedroom into the general area of the hut. I moaned in response and trudged over to them.

Arthur frowned and placed a hand on my forehead the moment I neared him. “Are you ill? Your eyes appear to be darker than usual.”

“I didn’t sleep much last night.” I yawned and plopped myself next to the table. Then I laid my head to rest on the surface and groaned. The table was too hard. I wanted nothing more than to be back in my bed back at home. The cushions here were not helping me with my rib pain at all.

“What kept you awake?” Chi asked. “Is there something on your mind, Phoenix?”

“Don't tell you know who,” I laid my head on my arm and exhaled. “My side still hurts. And I slept on it and your bags of cushions didn’t help me much.”
