The Blood We Share With Weltenschmerz (2)

The man, his figure encased in gleaming silver armour, locked eyes with me again, his voice low and cryptic. "Should you ever venture to Destiny's Touch, avoid Die Meisterin. Seek out Weltenschemerz, the name I assume in my work."

He does work at Destiny's Touch, I was right, a place shrouded in mystery and known for its enigmatic inhabitants, so why did Liselotte, a countess, become acquainted with him anyway?

I stared at him, my confusion escalating to a crescendo. "Why should I trust you? Die Meisterin has proven his worth to me. We've just met, so why should I follow your advice?"

Weltenschmerz let out a weary sigh. His voice tinged with even more mystery. "Die Meisterin, he merely inherited the title from his sister. It's curious. He's using the feminine version of his title. But who am I to judge? There must be a reason. But, the point is that I don't believe much in his abilities; his popularity stems from his title, not his skills."

Weltenschmerz gave me his full attention before speaking again: "You may trust Die Meisterin more than me, but I have known him longer. I wouldn't be surprised if the information he was giving you turned out to be false. After all, you were the one who decided to trust me before you lost your memories. So have some faith in yourself."

Liselotte probably did trust this guy a lot, but what did she need him for?

I cleared my voice before speaking, "Why did I need you then?"

Weltenschmerz started returning before replying, "I'll let you figure that out, mein Fräulein. Let's talk again when your memories have been restored to you! But, if you are determined to know, ask yourself, what is one thing that felt wrong ever since you were born into the world?"

I chased after the enigmatic figure, his form dissipating into thin air like a wisp of smoke. The questions gnawed at me, threatening to consume me. What was amiss? Everything! Yet, I needed to view it through Liselotte's eyes. Her seemingly idyllic life was shattered, but by what? What was the flaw in her existence she saw?
