Sanctum Of Slaughter

I was pinned down until a gunshot was heard from the entrance of the building.

BANG!

The cloaked person was hit, and their grip against my wrist weakened so that I could free myself. But when I looked up to see my saviour, it was Haeun. He looked like he regretted pulling that trigger. His face always deceived him, so I knew what he thought or felt. He couldn't even look me in the eyes; he looked ashamed and confused.

"Haeun? Why are you here?"

When I walked closer to Haeun, his condition worsened. His clothes were ruined, his face was covered in dirt, and he had scratches.

"So-Jin, is he dead?" He was shivering and timid like I always knew he was. I couldn't believe he saved me.

I looked back at my attacker, and he wasn't dead; he burst out into laughter.

"BAHAHA! So you've escaped! And you must have stolen that gun when our dearest Lizzy arrived!"

"What have you done with my friends, you deranged lunatic!"

"Ah, I forgot you've managed to have some friends in this lifetime. To punish them, I killed them immediately!"

I couldn't tell if he was sarcastic, but something about the tone of his voice tells me he isn't playing around.

"Why are you doing this? Why can't you leave us alone?"

"Pay for the crimes of your past life. Even though I am indebted to Haeun for his glorious deeds, I'm sure he wouldn't mind dying if it meant your soul stopped reincarnating."

He was insane. Haeun looked on the verge of puking, and I was standing there. I felt useless about doing nothing, but sometimes, doing nothing is the best way to achieve your goal.

"What was Haeun done to you? Huh? Haeun, do you know this jerk?"

"No, So-Jin, I swear-"

"He is the saviour who restored equilibrium!" When he cut off Haeun, I got even more pissed than I was already. What type of grown man would chase around teenagers?

"Haeun, did you see Iseul, Yuri, or Bora?"

"So-Jin."

"Answer me Before I stick that gun up your throat!"

"They're dead."

"How do you know? You have to be sure, you idiot!" I yelled back, rebuking Haeun's statement.

"When he captured me, I found them all dead beside me." Haeun looked traumatized, as if he didn't want to recapture the moment.

The man started laughing, but I grabbed Haeun's wrist and booked it. I couldn't be there any longer, knowing they died.

If only I had acted sooner, this wouldn't have happened.
