Echos Of Her Majesty's Sovereignty.

The trip was long and bumpy, but the Empress's palace was soon within reach. It was glamorous and gorgeous, not anything I had ever seen before. When we stopped, one of the Royal guards lent me a hand to step down from my carriage. When I made my first step on the ground, the maids and butlers were from side to side saying all in unison, "Long Live The Empress!" at first, I thought it was just a formality, but something about the atmosphere seemed off.

I was met with a tall woman who seemed to be around 30. She seemed slim, and her porcelain face seemed gloomy and depressing. Her voice had a hint of desperation in it.

"Lady Liselotte, I am Duchess Ingrid Neumann, the Empress's lady-in-waiting. She has been waiting for your arrival for a long time. Please follow me, and I'll lead you right to her."

I said nothing and followed the Duchess. She seemed like a robot destined to follow every order of the Empress. I remember Haeun being exactly like that before everything.

Walking through the halls of the Empress's palace was quiet, but it was far from calming. Every second I was here, it felt like I was on the edge, especially after Pavel's warning. But despite that, I came here despite Pavel's warnings.

"Right through here, Lady Liselotte."

Before I came inside, the Duchess grabbed my wrist and whispered into my ear, "M'lady, if you ever need me, say the word "help," and I'll come right to your aid." Then she let go, watching me open the doors.

The woman there seemed old and cheerful despite the atmosphere in the palace, but I could see the resemblance to Kaiserin in her. She was his mother.

"Ah, Countess, please sit down! I have been long awaiting your arrival. Is your mother well?"

I didn't know much about Liselotte's mother, but I had a gut feeling something happened to her.

"I suppose."

"I see, Liselotte, you're young and beautiful. Wicked women like me could never escape this weak body. If only I could crawl out of this horrid body into a nice one with a beautiful face like yours."

The Empress stood up, circling around me. When she stopped behind me, she played with my hair and smelled it.

"Ah, lovely girl, I could bite off your arm. Enjoy your youth."

My whole body was stiff, but slowly, the Empress reached for the teacup but dropped it, causing it to break.

"Silly me! Could you pick up the mess I made, Liselotte?"

I nodded, reaching for the broken cup, but I cut my finger while doing it.

"Ow!"

The Empress grabbed my wrist forcefully and wiped the blood on my finger with a white cloth.

"Go now, Liselotte; I'll call for you more in the future; a pretty girl like you simply can't be forgotten."

I was walking towards the exit, and looking back, I could see the Empress's face of cruelty. From here, I could fully see her wicked side.
