31. Vampire truth

Your baggy eyes began to flutter open from the sun rays piercing from the balcony. You swallowed against your parched throat, rolled to the opposite side, spotting an empty spot of the crimson bed. Your mind immediately reminded you of the event last night, sending a cold shrill all throughout your body.

You curled further into a ball, eyes focused onto the cushions before it flickered up to the nearby bedside table and found a little note. Your fingers softly slid in between the note as you brought it near to read.

'See ya next Sunday, baby doll, lock the door on your way out.'

You sighed discontentedly, fear still capturing your heart from the haunting event last night. You slowly got out of the bed, feet touching against the grey carpet of the floor as you squinted your eyes away from the punishing, scorching sun.

You lurched your head to the right, tapping on your phone to find out that it was already nine in the morning. Your brows curled when you found a few miss calls from your roommate.

You blinked, quite surprised he would even bother to call you. But, considering how concerned he was before the sleepover, you supposed that you shouldn't be surprised. Your mind was trapped to one thing. You wanted answers.

You called his number, almost immediately, he answered.

"Hey, you still alive?"

"I'm talking to you now, aren't I?" You snapped irritably. "Shinsou, I want answers now."

You tapped your fingers nervously against the table of the corner of the canteen. There weren't much people at this time since it was Sunday. He agreed to meet here, while you waited anxiously.

You dared not to move, the memory of Touya's red rimmed eyes sent such fright within the consciousness of your mind. It didn't look like Shinsou's red ones, it was much more hostile than you've seen. Almost as if he was craving every part of you.

"Hoy."

Your thoughts snapped out of trance, head lurched up to spot a tall, purple haired male towered above you, right across the square, marbled table.

You were tempted to smile, found an unusual comfort in his presence, but you remained silent, kept your plump lips to a firm line. Your eyes locked onto his captivating purple eyes, bags underneath were heavier than usual, almost like your own.

You gave a single blink, looking down the table once, before he took a seat across you. His arms cross planted atop of the table, a large grey sweater encompassed his top. You felt a burning stare, ones that you were used to, from his deep violet ones. You slowly looked up, locking gaze with his eyes once again.

Silence loomed between the two of you, eyes never once blinking from his side. Your eyes prone to blink, clearly breaking off the staring contest.

You chuckled very softly, lurching your eyes away as you kept your frown maintained.

"Start talking, Shinsou," you murmured, averting your eyes back to melt into his own. "...you know exactly what's going on."

His brows thrusted down, red lips pursed slightly, looking down as his eyes tried to find words to utter, but found none. His lips parted, hesitated. "...what did you see exactly?"

Your fist clenched, eyes flickered abruptly to meet his own. "Shinsou, do it again."

"What...?"

"Turn your eyes red again."

He blinked, crinkled his brows in confusion before he immediately lurched his eyes away. "I clearly made a mistake."

He immediately stood up from his spot, causing a screeching sound of the metallic table against the glossy, marble floor. He was about to walk off before you immediately grabbed ahold of his wrist tightly, pulling him back, but he simply removed himself effortlessly with unmatched strength.

"Shinsou, please!" You yelped, eyes filled with eagerness as he looked waywardly back. "...I'm so sick and tired of this endless game, I hate the haunting feeling okay? It's scary, I just wanna know the truth, and I don't even trust own my boyfriend, you're the only one I can trust..."

"..." he stared blatantly at you, violet eyes narrowed before he grabbed ahold of your hand, coiled around it and pulled you along. You remained silent, simply following where he was leading you until he found a dark corner with a water fountain in the middle.

He shoved you at the other side of the wall, eyes fixated onto you before he leaned back at the other side of the wall, distance about two footsteps away. He crossed his arms together, neck craned froward as he kept his hot gaze onto your own.

"You really trust me?" He asked.

You simply nodded, quite earnestly. "...You're the only one who is usually... almost honest, though rude at times, but honest nonetheless."

"...And you said..." he began, ignoring your statement. "...that it was scary? Like this haunting feeling?"

"...Exactly like you said," you replied reluctantly, clutching onto the hem of your garment.

"...Then, what if...what I say....will cause you to be even more frightened?" He asked solemnly with deep voice reprobating in your ears, resting his hands in his pockets as he took one step towards you. "Would it change anything anyway?"

You gulped, kept your head up to lock eyes with him. "...Guess not, but I really want the honest truth, and you're the only person I can look to."

He let out a soft breath, blinking ever-so-softly, not looking affected one bit. "...Even if this will cause you to change your views on your boyfriend..." he lifted his left hand expressively. "...into something scarier than you can imagine, would you dare to know about it anyway?"

You swallowed anxiously, forcing a laugh. "...Now that you said it, might as well tell me, don't you think?"

He scoffed, face was a breath away. "Tch, but before I tell you, you two didn't do something weird...did you?"

You blinked, reminded of Touya smothering you last night, immediately dotting your cheeks with a furious red. "...We just did some stuff..."

His expression nearly darkened by your expression, lips contorted to a visible frown. "...Stuff? Like se—"

You immediately covered his mouth, pushing him to the other side of the wall as you glared at him, cheeks flushed.

"No, we did not, stop changing the topic," you hissed, as you watched his brows curled profusely. He abruptly shoved your hands off him, his hands coiled around your wrist and kept it there, as he kept his eyes on you. "...Now, tell me THE TRUTH, Shinsou."

"...Fine," he breathed softly, purple eyes flickered down to your lips. "...just give me some space first..." he awkwardly looked to the side with red hues forming in his cheeks. "...will you?"

You chewed your bottom lip in your flushed state, realizing how close you two were, your eyes wandered down to where he held you. "...can't do that."

"Huh? Why not?" He snapped abruptly at you.

You pouted your lips coyly with shy confidence. "...cause' you like holding my hands too much."

Irking panic went through his expression, immediately removing his hands off your wrist as he shoved his hands back into his pocket. "...alright, there, now back off."

"Fine."

You leaned back against your side of the wall as you kept your fixated gaze onto him. You replicated his position, shoving your own hands within the pockets of your pants.

"Now talk."

He sighed softly. "Remember the movie we watched together?"

"Hah? Yeah, what's that got to do wi—"

"Tell me the creatures there," he cut you off sharply, eyes growing cold and solemn.

You gulped, feeling a sudden tension cascade through your chest at the sudden solemnity in his tone, as you recalled the Vampire romance movie you watched with him before. You couldn't forget it, it was the start of your neutral friendship with him.

Your eyes immediately widened, upon the realization of his red blood eyes, inhuman features, and strong sense of smell. Your eyes flickered back at him, his eyes filled with approval within your silence, almost cursing yourself for being so blind to realize such obviousness.

"...no way," you murmured under your breath, unsure why you felt a sudden release of tension and freedom. You began to run through your fingers through your hair with a humourless chuckle.

Shinsou blinked at you, quite intrigued and mildly surprised at your reaction.

"...you're...a Vampire?"

You lurched your eyes up, unsure why you felt a tinge of unusual joy to hear such a thing, yet mixed with fright at such a thought.

He remained silent as he watched you laugh nearly hysterically, walking back and forth as you pieced everything together. From the time he changed his eyes, and to that time they pulled you like a rope in your dorm bedroom as if you were some prize to be won. Especially the time that Shinsou looked horridly concerned over you before you went for a sleepover.

"W-Wait, so my boyfriend is also a vampire..." you mused anxiously, looking back at him with bewilderment. "...and YOU and your friends are too?"

He simply stared at you, unsure what to say, but seemed to leave you to answer everything for yourself.

"...you look like a madman right now," he commented under his breath.

"Hey!"

"Don't you understand? We're killers, and you're treating it like you're in a movie acting as if it's fine, as if you're glad that THIS is who we are, you're just...ridiculous, you know that?"

"I'm just..." you inhaled sharply with a wide grin. "I don't know, WAIT, before the sleepover, you were concerned for me, and wait..." you began to recall a conversation you had with Touya during the time before he confessed to you on how you indirectly, verbally allowed him to turn you into a Vampire when you were joking around, not realizing that you were literally giving consent.

You shook your head, clenching your fist as you looked back into Shinsou's eyes. "...Don't tell me that Touya was...trying to...?"

"Kill you, yes, he was," he replied almost immediately, quite nonchalantly, yet with solemnity. "...Though I don't know why he spared your life this time."

"...W-Wait," you swallowed anxiously upon hearing such words uttered so directly out of his mouth. "...what do you mean this time? Has he done it many times...before?"

He chuckled humourlessly. "...Let's say you're not the first."
