28. Fought Feelings

"HA?!" You gaped at him with a an expression of disbelief, while kept your arms crossed. "Then WHY did YOU call me that in the first place?!"

He flinched, struck with resulting silence. He pursed lips and quirked a brow before he shook his head and shot his glare back at you, "...I don't mean it, obviously...How idiotic of you to think that I think of you that way."

You shifted your eyes down, feeling your heart descend down to a calmer rhythm due to his words of hatred—which you were glad of—just anything to stop yourself from feeling anything that may cause another frenzy of your flustered face. Yet, you hated how his words stung in your heart, as if he meant something to you.

You shook your head and of your own thoughts before you clenched your fist with toxicity growing heavy on your tongue. "...Well, then..." you looked back to him with a forced glare. "...GOOD, because I think of you the same way, I hated you and you've always been annoying since I met you, I...I think of nothing like that for you too."

He flinched at your sudden aggression in tone, silence looming heavy between you two before he let out a humourless laugh. "...Glad we're on the same boat, let's keep it that way, I'd rather not if we ever be more than friends, like you said."

"What? I never sai—"

"You did, you always say that we're nothing more than friends, but I say we're just frenemies, though you insist we're friends..."

"So? Since we're living together everyday, might as well be friends and be in good terms," You retorted with slight anger rising with you—unsure truly what you were arguing about. "...What's your point exactly?"

"...nevermind," he murmured swiftly, turning away in silence.

"..." He continued to stare at you.

"..." You replicated likewise.

"..." He blinked with a furrowed glare.

"..." You lurched your eyes away, bottom lip bitten slightly.

You cleared your throat as you shifted on the spot awkwardly. "...I'll go now, and we also might even have a sleepover, so don't expect me tonight."

"A sleepover?!" He blurted sternly with a furrowed glare at you, red lips parted slightly.

You faltered slightly with a flinch. "...W-What's wrong? We're just gonna have a sleepover…"

His countenance fell, demeanour changing direction than before. He exhaled sharply, eyes looking down to and fro as if his eyes darkened with worry.

"[Name], please don't go," he pleaded with solemnity in his voice.

"What? And why not?" You retorted with a furrowed brow. "You can't just boss me around now...I have my right to make my own decisions, and plus we...hate each other, don't we? We're just frenemies like you said, so it's best if we don't talk tonight, this sleepover might seem convenient as of now."

"No, no, [Name]," he muttered, before he began to anxiously run his fingers through his disheveled hair, whilst averting his violet eyes or the corner. "...I'm..." he looked back at you. "...sorry, just please don't go, I promise you, it's for the best."

You flinched, quite mesmerized at his sudden tone of humility to even apologize. "...No, you don't sound sorry, and for the record, I think you're just jealous that I'm with him, aren't you?"

"What?" He retorted with incredulity. "I'm JUST trying to protect you."

"Pft, protect me?" You shot back. "What? From my boyfriend? Oh please, Shinsou, look at your expression right now, you're totally jealous."

He swallowed, shifting his gaze to the side with his brows knitted in silence. You scoffed before you began to walk off, but he quickly grabbed ahold of your wrist to stop you.

You groaned as you looked back at him. "What?"

"You're not going anywhere," he declared with such authority in his deep voice.

"Huh?" You tried to pull your wrist from him but failed to do so, which gave such an impression on his strength. "...Let me go! I don't understand why you're acting like this, I have my own right to make my own decisions of where I'm going, and...and YOU'RE talking again as if you know something about Touya that I don't, and...AND even if you don't admit that you're jealous of him of being with me, well...I admit that I'm jealous that YOU know more about Touya than I do! So just let me go already...!!"

He pulled you wrist, leaving you to bump against his chest as he looked into your eyes.Your brows curled as you watched his eyes surround with the same crimson red that you saw before.

"You're not going, and that's final."

You flinched, feeling a sudden fear rummaging through your veins at his sudden tone and solemn expression. You heart and faltered as if you were watching a horror movie. Your ears began to fill with erratic beats in a different way than before, ones that filled with agitation and anxiousness.

"...Shinsou, I-I'm...scared," you croaked softly, before he released your wrist and shook his head with eyes widened again, shifting his gaze to the side.

"...it didn't work on you again," he murmured softly under his breath in deep disdain.

"What didn't work...?" You asked carefully, before you looked back at him with a distasteful glare, ones muddled with evident fear. "...And why does your eye colour keep changing? What ar—"

"I don't understand you," he cut you off with a louder and hostile tone. "...What's so different about you? Why isn't it working on you?"

"..." you remained silent at his words before you blinked at him with silent glare, yet in the midst of that, you felt agitation on your heart at his vague implication.

"Listen, I don't understand why you're acting like this, you're the weirdest frie—no, frenemy I've ever had, and I...I...absolutely hate you."

You forcefully pushed his chest with your hands, leaving him to slightly topple to the side with a humourless chuckle at your sudden gesture, his violet orbs staring at the spot you once stood.

You strolled off, all the way to the door before you turned back waywardly with slight tears prickling at the corner. "...I'll prove to you there's nothing wrong with having a sleepover with my boyfriend, I'll be back again anyways by tomorrow, good night."

"W-Wait."

You stood still, faltered slightly at the rare stutter in his words. You stood motionless as you watched him swiftly went towards you with a light glare this time. His eyes shifted to the side before returning back to you.

"...JUST," he began, as he inhaled sharply. "...Don't hesitate to call me if anything bad happens."

You blinked, quite perplexed that he assumed such a thing would happen in a sleepover. You went out of the dorm room in silence, right before you shut the door heard his small words, "...I hope he'll spare your life tonight."
