1. Confirming myself

Zara grabbed her bag and walked out of the old college library. She was 23, medium length dark brown wavy hair, wearing her usual classy black colour outfit.

"I feel bad for you, getting married at a young age", said a high pitched voice, it was Ava Robinson. Zara rolled her eyes on Ava's words.

"I feel bad for my parents too", Zara said with a sigh.

"What does that mean?", Ava asked but Zara was already way ahead of her. "How does she walk so fast?", Ava muttered annoyed.

Zara came out of the college campus, "Hey Zara here!", shouted John, her 27 year old, ebony hair fiance. She reluctantly sits inside the red six seater.

"So let's go for a date together, I'm guessing you aren't busy", suggested John to which Zara nods lightly. On the road nearby there were two cars probably involved in an accident. John glimpsed on the cars and said, "Huh must be a woman driving".

"Which restaurant should we go-"

"Ah looks like we have to cancel everything, my friend invited me for lunch at her house. Just pull over here I'll take a cab", Zara said with a smile.

John hesitantly pulled over and Zara got off the car. She went to a cafe across the road, the walls were painted in a subtle shade of brown along with white and black furniture which was hardly occupied.

Zara ordered herself an iced coffee and sat on a table near the huge window. A man wearing glasses and suit entered the cafe. He sat in front of her when there were already empty seats nearby.

Zara looked around perplexed at the unoccupied seats then returns to her own world. The man leans forward with his chin propped up on his hand. He sighs, "Ms. Zara Lee", said the man in a deep voice.

"Apparently we received a tip that you are a vampire and by that we mean that we are sure", said the man fixing his glasses. "Me? Is this a prank? I don't believe in vampires Mr. Whatever", Zara scoffed.

"Mr. W", he said coldly, "If you don't believe us just don't drink the pomegranate juice tomorrow before leaving for college", the man stood up.

"I will drink what I want....wait how do you know that", Zara stared at the man agape. "Well we do know a little too much", Mr. W brings his face close to Zara's ear and whispered, "Also how is it that you never questioned your thirst for human blood", he smirked and left the cafe.

"I thought everyone feels that at some point in their life", Zara mumbled.

Zara reached home and rang the doorbell, she stood in front of the enormous front door with frosty glass panes on two sides when she heard screaming and shouting from her neighbours.

"It was definitely a vampire, I will find all of them and burn them down", said Jane coming out of the house, her parents were dashing after her. She had long scraggly hair and faded clothes. The two houses straddled a road yet they were quite far from each other.

All Zara knew was that Jane lost her boyfriend in an accident, soon her mental health deteriorated.

Zara's family opened the door, revealing her father and mother who were probably around 50 and elder sister Olivia with her husband, they recently got married.

"I will kill all the vampires", she repeated running around. "Jane that's enough there is nothing like vampires in this world", said her father.

Zara's father and mother clamed up at his words. "Let's get inside they always have something going on", said Mr. Lee signalling to go inside.

The family proceeded to get inside, Jane holds up a juice can in her hand and her parents try to take it away from her. In the pulling and pushing the can was thrown at Olivia hitting the back of her head with a clank.

Olivia winced, "You're always the unlucky one", Olivia's husband Oliver hissed which Zara heard probably others as well.

"Oh are you okay?", asked Mrs. Lee to which Olivia nods and Mr. Lee strokes her daughter's head softly.

The whole family went to the dining room, Mr. Lee broke the silence, "So how was your date Zara?".

Zara instantly thought about how she avoided going on a date with John, she smiled to herself then quickly raised her head up changing her expressions.

"Yeah....good", Zara gave a simpering smile. "Why is Jane blaming the vampires though?", she added. "Hmph you're saying as if vampires actually exist", her father scoffed.

"I thought they did", she said casually. "No they don't and Jane is suffering from PTSD or perhaps she is hallucinating as well", said her father coldly.

"She can't kill a vampire anyways, I've heard they are very powerful", Oliver cackled in the silence. "Enough of vampire talk, I don't want to waste our time on something that doesn't even exist", Mr. Lee said in a bitter tone.

"Why is father so sensitive about vampires?", Zara thought to herself. After dinner Olivia and Oliver went home.

The next day Zara came out of her room dressed up for college, she gazed at the breakfast on the table. As usual there was a glass of pomegranate juice as well.

Zara contemplated and decided not to drink it for today. She walked through the concrete pathway and closed the main gate softly. "Where is this sexist guy?", she referred to John who was supposed to pick her up for college.

Zara looks around and steps back a bit when she bumps into a guy who was running, she instinctively turned around. She wasn't falling or anything but the guy grabbed Zara by her shoulders. He was tall, had brown medium length hair brushed back and a few strands falling by itself.

"What is this? why does his face look so perfect? as if he isn't even real", she thought. The guy wore a cable chain bracelet with a mini dagger attached to it.

"Do you want to die?", something unexpected to hear he blurted out. "I'll kill you instead, Get lost", Zara hissed. The guy got away from her and ran again.

Zara noticed John had already arrived.
