The Familiar Name

"Mama!" A little boy screamed when she saw her mother while talking with the security.

Then, she glanced at his son, who was holding a hand with the personnel while his other hand clasped some pack of Oreos and opened yogurt juice.

She heaved a deep sigh in relief and thanked the security before she sprinted towards his son's direction.

She knelt in front of him, checking his son but it seemed very fine. Then, she bit her lips, striving to stop her tears and pulling his son into an embrace.

"Oh my baby, I thought I could lose you," she mumbled.

His son unclasped his food to hug her mother back and cried out loud. Jaymianne loosened the embrace and chuckled when seeing his son whimpered.

She wanted to get mad at him since he left without even asking her permission and now, he opened the yogurt juice and a pack of oreo.

Her hands cupped his son's cheeks and wiped all the tears that shed through her cheeks with her thumbs. She smiled at him and said calmly, didn't want his son to get scared,

"Don't ever do that again, James. I told you to wait for me, right?"

He pouted and removed her mom's hands before wiping all his tears. She was struck into awe when her son acted cute in front of her.

"I-I'm sorry m-mama. I just w-want O-Oreos and j-juice." He replied as his sobs made him stutter.

"Never do that again, okay?"

He responded with a nod and grabbed his food. "We will pay for this, okay?"

His eyes sparkled when her mother wasn't mad when he opened the pack of oreo and the juice. He smiled widely and nodded to her mother.

"I'm letting this slide, young man because you cried a lot but next time, never do this again, understand me?"

He stood straight and saluted his mother, who was smiling at his son's mischievous manner. And as they strolled to the cashier, she placed the opened Oreos and yogurt juice.

The woman glanced at Jaymianne and to the little boy, who was waiting for his snack.

Then, she smiled and just placed it on the paper bag which made Jaymianne stunned and stopped the woman.

The personnel glanced at her, cocking her head on the side, confused at her actions.

"What are you doing? We are supposed to pay for that." Jaymianne asked.

The personnel smiled at her and shook her head before properly replying to her, "our boss told us not to place a price on the kid who is wearing a superman shirt with a pack of oreo and juice."

"A-a boss?"

"Yes, ma'am. So please do our job so we don't get fired."

She just responded with a nod and gave the woman access to her son's snack.

Then, she gave the paper bag to James as the personnel waved at the little boy.

"Please tell Mister, thank you…" James thanked the personnel.

"Well, I'll let our boss hear that someday, okay but for now, I'll pass your message."

He responded with a nod and clasped his right hand around her mothers. Jaymianne, on the other hand, smiled at the personnel before leaving the cashier section.

They walked out of the supermarket and straight to George, who was waiting for them, outside the car.

James loosened his grip on her mother and sprinted towards George's direction. She just smiled at them and walked straight to her car. She opened it so they could get inside.

As they stepped inside, Jaymianne started the engine so the air-conditioner began to do its job to cool down the car. Then, she looked at her son, who was busy eating his food.

"James, what did I tell you about don't talking nor coming with strangers?" stranger

He bit his lips, nervous that her mother would get mad. So he placed his snacks beside him and looked down.

"Answer me, sweetie."

He sighed and glanced at her mother, who was waiting for his response. Then, he mumbled, "Don't talk or come with strangers but mama, Mister is not bad… He was the owner of the supermarket."

"Really?"

"Yes! And you know that I told him that I'll be having a big supermarket like him so I could buy whatever you like, Mama!" He replied with a happy tone.

She smiled at her son, knowing that he really had this dream to be a CEO like her mother and someday he would take her from every country around the world.

As she always noticed, his son was like his father, they were both ambitious and also, competitive.

"That's good to hear, sweetie."

"Also, I told him that I'm looking for a new papa and I want him to be my new papa! He will meet you soon!"

She just smiled but deep inside, she was annoyed when hearing that phrase. George gave him an idea of finding his new papa and her lover.

Then, she glanced at George, who was shrugging and didn't know what to say but he strove to halt his laugh when hearing his son.

"I will kick your balls, George. I will make sure that you and your boyfriend will never have s*x." She threatened George but it didn't buy him at all.

"No, you can't. You love us so much." He replied.

Her eyes rolled, thinking that he was right. She can't hurt him nor his boyfriend. Knowing that they were always there when she needed help.

She sighed and shook her head in disbelief before she glimpsed at her son and asked again, "May I ask who's this Mister?"

He hummed while stroking his chin, reckoning about the Mister's name. He even bit his lips, really striving to think about his name. She just chuckled when seeing her son being serious about her question.

"You know you don't need to—"

"I remember! It's Sph—*sigh* Sphil? Sphing? Oh, I know now, Mama! His name is Sphinx!"

'Sphinx? I heard that before… But where?'
