Chance Encounter

The sun rays beam through the blinds of Damien's window waking him up from his sleep, "Ah, what a good way to wake up. Time to start my day!" Damien goes through his morning ritual of showering, dressing, and praying to his dead parents and uncle. Damien heads out to get familiar with the local area.

He spots a café shop, and heads in and walks up to the counter where he sees this beautiful blonde with blue eyes, long legs, and fair skin. She doesn't look any older than twenty.

Damien orders his drink and notices the girl has been staring at him for quite a while. He decides to go up to her.

"Hey, my name's Damien. What's yours?"

The girl slightly blushes and in a soft cute voice she replies, "Jessica".

"Well, hello Jessica, I'm new to the area, have you been here long?"

Jessica stares at Damien for a few seconds before replying,

"All my life, grew up and was raised here."

Damien lets out a sigh. "Well, that's convenient, I was wondering, Jessica, if you have any time to show me around the area?"

Her head drops as she hears this, "I-I am terribly sorry, Damien. I have plans to meet up with a friend. But maybe sometime tomorrow we could meet up!"

"That'll be perfect, I still have a few days before I start at Genesis Academy."

Jessica is practically beaming at this point. "You go to Genesis Academy as well?!"

Damien chuckles to himself, "Yeah. I start next week."

Jessica smiles from ear to ear at this point. "That's awesome, maybe we will see each other there too!"

Damien chuckles again, "Yeah, maybe. Are you a first year as well?"

Jessica nods in response. "Yes, yes."

Jessica peers over Damien's shoulder and spots her friend.

"I'm sorry to cut our conversation short but that's my friend over there waiting for me. I gotta go, but before that let me give you, my number."

Damien and Jessica exchange phone numbers and Jessica runs off over to her friend and they leave the café shop.

Damien mumbles to himself, "What a cute girl..."

He continues his journey walking around the city. To his amazement it's a totally different animal than he is used to. Growing up on a farm, the buildings in this city and the magic that the people use to move around the city or lifting heavy objects it's amazing to him. He sees magic he had no idea existed, since living on the farm he only learning about strengthening magic and physical enhancement magic. He didn't really need anything else.

It's starting to get late; he heads home as nothing has caught his eye besides the beauty, he had seen that morning. Once home, he cooks himself some chicken and rice and watches some videos online. Afterwards, he heads to bed calling it a good day and falls asleep almost instantly.

The sun blinds him as it shines through his blinds and wakes him up. He goes through the motions just like the previous mornings and heads out to meet up with Jessica.

As Damien heads toward the meetup point, he notices that there are two girls, one is Jessica and the other one looks like the girl he seen Jessica leaving the café with yesterday. She looks to be around the same age as Jessica but with red hair, green eyes and paler looking skin that only adds to her beauty.

Damien approaches the women, waving his hand with a smile on his face. "Hey! Hope I'm not late."

Jessica smiles at him "No, you're right on time, and I would like to introduce you to one of my lifelong friends, Lauren!"

Lauren looks to be studying Damien for a second, "Hey, pleasure meeting you, Jessica was NOT lying."

Jessica face goes red, and Damien just chuckles, "Hopefully it wasn't anything too bad, didn't have long to make the best impressions."

The girls laugh before linking arms with Damien and pulling him toward the sweet shop.

"This is our favorite shop!" Jessica roars.

"They do sell the best sweets around here." Lauren adds.

"Well let's go ladies."

They head into the shop and Damien sees for the first time a bright and colorful shop and a smell of sugar hits him like a hammer bashing against a nail.

"Ooof that's a strong smell." He exclaims.

"Yeah, isn't it great! And we get a discount since we're students at Genesis Academy!" Jessica says as she runs to the counter to start ordering her favorite cupcake.

Lauren mumbles to herself. "The girl never changes. Even after all these years..."

Damien looks at Lauren and gives a slight smile. "You guys are close."

"Yeah. We are."

They step up to the counter and each order some chocolate chip cupcakes and sit down next to Jessica who picked a seat by the windows.

"So, Damien, what do you think of Hopes so far?"

"It's pretty nice to be honest, there's a lot more people here than I'm use too."

Jessica looks at Damien with a perplexed look. "What do you mean use too?"

"I was raised on a farm about 7 hours outside the city by train."

Both girls are shocked but nod in agreement. "Makes sense, considering your build." Lauren says with a coy smile.

"What about you, Lauren?" Damien says with an inquisitive tone.

"I lived out in the country until I was around 5 or 6, can't really remember. My folks wanted to experience the city life. But thankfully they did, because I got to meet this sweetheart right next to me!" Jessica blushes as Lauren says that.

"Well thank the gods for that." Damien lets out a small chuckle.

They finish their food and leave the shop.

Jessica links arms with Damien and they start pulling him. They begin to wander around the park area. Unfortunately, they run in the local gang, Devils Sight. One of the members notice Jessica and Lauren and he signals the others to follow him as he approaches the girls.

"Hey there missy! What you doing around here?" One of the members says to the girls as the other members surround the girls and Damien.

"We were just passing through." Lauren says.

"Oh yeah, well there's a tax for coming through here!" One of the other members shouts at them.

Jessica looks somewhat scared as the members are getting closer and closer.

"If you can't pay, we can always think of something else." As one of the members gives leer looks toward Jessica and Lauren and licks his lips.

"God your disgusting move out of the way now!" Lauren barks at the members. Just then one of the members lunges at her but before he knows it his vision darkens, and he is on his back groaning in pain. Everyone takes a step back as Damien just shoulder threw one of the gang members flat on his back.

Damien remains stoic as he says in a confident tone toward the members. "Please, get out of our way."

One of the members shouts out, "Flare Shot!" as a small fire bullet leaves the member's hand, Damien dodges out of the way of the shot and rushes at the man, digging his elbow into the man's solar plexus, knocking the wind out of the man and dropping him to the ground.

"I asked nicely!" A few of the men step back while two charge toward Damien. Damien lets out a sigh and slides underneath one that lunged at him, Damien shoots up, performing an uppercut to the man's gut launching him in the air and landing on his back with a loud thud. The other one tries to grab hold of Damien but Damien slips through it and kicks the guy's knee out making him fall to the ground while Damien performs a spin kick to the man's face.

Damien walks over to the girls, "Are you two, okay?" he says with a concerned look.

"Ye-Yes, we are." Lauren says. Jessica was too shocked to even speak. The others pick up their unconscious companions and flee.

Jessica explodes with excitement. "How did you do that, Damien! You were so amazing. You were like KAPOW and WOHBAM! It was amazing!"

Damien chuckles, "I took some martial arts classes throughout my life, and working on the farm helped improve my strength. As well as knowing some physical enhancement magic."

Jessica looks at Lauren then back at Damien, "Damien, you need to be careful, the people you just beat up are part of the local gang around here." Lauren speaks up with a slight concern look, "She's right, their boss is pretty mean, and even has deep pockets. It seems the police are even in there."

"Thanks for the concern, ladies, I'll keep an eye out and my mind sharp. But they have the police on their side?!"

Lauren nods her head "Yeah, I don't know how, but it seems they don't get in trouble no matter what they do. I mean look at this, they tried to extort us for money or sex in board daylight like they had no care in the world."

Damien looks at the girls, "Yeah, that's insane. I'm surprised nobody is doing anything especially since Genesis Academy is here."

Jessica looks around, "What do you think they would do?"

"I don't know but it just seems like a big issue since people can feel safe being here." Damien says with some concern in his voice.

They all find a bench to sit on to give a moment a break. Then Damien looks around and gives a smile toward the girls and takes a deep breath before speaking "Well ladies, shall we continue our little tour?" The girls just smile and grab onto Damien's arm pulling him toward the next spot.

Throughout the day they brought Damien to many places that sell food, but eventually the day had to come to an end and he waved goodbye to the girls as he headed back to the dorm. He gets ready for bed reflecting on the day he just had.

"Man, hung out with 2 beautiful girls, sucks that it got a bit interrupted and kind of killed the mood for a couple hours there, but Jessica's perky self and Lauren's calm self really reset the mood and it was awesome. Can't wait to see them again." He rolls over onto his side before realizing, "Shit, I need to go food shopping tomorrow! I can't keep eating out like this, even though I did get some serious inheritance from my uncle but still..." He falls asleep before he can finish.
