"Stop! Get off me," Kalina kept tossing and struggling on the bed, her voice rising in panic.
"Hey, hey, calm down. There is nobody here, it's just a nightmare. Breathe," Dominique said urgently, trying to wake her up.
"No, stop!" She continued to thrash in his arms, her struggles intensifying as she fought against the phantom assailant in her dream.
"Wake up, baby. Nobody is here. It's just me and you," Dominique pulled her close, his voice softening as he rocked her gently.
Slowly, her thrashing began to subside, and she clung to Dominique like a lifeline. He began to hum a Spanish lullaby, the familiar tune soothing her until her breathing finally leveled out.
"Dom?" she whispered softly, her voice trembling.
"Yes, baby."
"I don't want to stay here anymore. Can we go, please?" she pleaded, her eyes wide with lingering fear.
