A guard rushed into the mansion, panic evident in his eyes. "Sir John, Sir James," he gasped, bringing everyone's dinner conversation to a halt.
James inquired calmly, "What happened?" The guard, still catching his breath, delivered a distressing news. "Master Ben he is.... he is being carried unconscious and covered in blood by his horse."
Shock gripped the room. Alan, Williams, Chris, and Dave dashed towards the exit. They found Ben precariously laying on a restless horse. Alan approached, calming the horse and checking Ben for injuries.
After coaxing the horse for more than a minute, It allowed him to get Ben down, after checking him, Alan assured everyone, " few Minor injuries, nothing serious. The blood on his body appears to be from some beasts. He's more exhausted than injured."
Helen also confirmed the same and suggested taking Ben to the healing cente.
As they spoke, Ben stirred, and relief filled the room. " What happened dear?" Elizabeth asked with concern. When Ben looked around, he found everyone with concern on their face. He took a deep breath, " My father is dead. He.... he....., tears started flowing from Ben's eyes. This was the first time he had cried after the day his horse literally made him to let out his emotions. Helen hugged and comforted him. We are so sorry to here this dear. What happened?
After a few seconds, Ben told the complete story. From his father selling their Inn. How he suffered alone, no one willing to go near him except his neighbor and how he even sold his house before leaving Emberfall town.
The gut wrenching story made a shiver run through them, when they heard Ben, explain his father's final moments, which unfortunately he overhead from someone while he was selling his house.
Everyone including John, the maids and the guards had tears in their eyes. " I am so unlucky. I wasn't even able to serve my father who took care of me and made me what I am today. I couldn't even see him before he passed away or cry infront of his grave. What I got was his urn," Ben took out his fathers urn from a side bag from his horse. " He wanted me to disperse his ashes in a river. I think he didn't want me to waste my time dwelling on his grave." He stated hanging his head in defeat, his shoulders slumped and almost feeling lifeless.
Helen and Alan felt a pang in their heart as Alec had done the same thing.
Ben's horse came to him and started nuzzling. " I am alright boy, I am alright." Ben patted it on the neck still in sadness.
"You are lucky to have such a companion on your journey back from Emberfall town Ben. He cares about you very much." Alan patted the horse on its neck and smiled. "That he does Al, that he does". Ben rubbed his horse's neck.
"Why is blood all over your body Ben?" James asked surveying him critically.
"I had encounterd a pack of hyenas. There were only 16 of them so I was able to take care of them easily. He... Ben patted his horse "wanted to take me away but..... he paused for a second, after knowing about the reason for my fathers condition I was unable to stop myself facing those basterd. And I also came across a couple of Red eyed tigers and Wild boars." Ben shrugged his shoulders weakly.
What? Alan, was shocked and once again started running his healing magic on Ben. Ben shivered as a burst of cooling sensation washed over him. Even the people around Alan felt the cold wave gushing out of Alan's body.
Helen sighed in admiration and felt proud of her grandson "What healing strength!!! I didn't even had a quarter of his strength at my peak. And he is still 13 now!! I wonder how much he can grow once he reaches his peak."
After thoroughly checking and healing even the tinest of scratchs from Ben's body, Alan sighed.
You.... gritting his teeth Alan took the urn from Ben's hand and punched Ben so hard, that, it made him flew and land more than 15 meters away.
Alan !!! Helen exclaimed in shock.
Ben's horse almost jumped on Alan. Which, seemed like in Anger. "Calm down boy. I am also concerned for him." Saying that Alan cought hold both of the horses front legs and threw it aside effortlessly, making the horse stagger and fall on to its side.
Everyone there including Helen were shocked by Alan's sudden violent nature and marveled at his strength. At the ease with which he threw a war horse aside!!! Usually a calm and caring boy around the family, they had never seem him in such anger.
He gave the urn to a maid asking her to keep it safe for now. And started walking forward towards Ben, his firsts tightly clenched and jaws set...
