Chapter 2: Rabbit

Hopper goes to Melissa's office and asks a question "Did you know one of the targets was a child?" To which Melissa said "Yes."

Hopper then asked "Remind me why a child who isn't even ten can be classified as a terrorist." Melissa says "It was deemed a necessary casualty." To which Hopper asks "Because of Ghost's inability to differentiate hostiles and non hostiles when he is using his powers?" Melissa answered "That is part of the reason, but not the sole one."

Hopper asks "Care to tell me what the other reason is then?" Melissa sighs and says "Look, Fate deemed that making that girl's life as normal as it could would be difficult due to multitude of circumstances. She recommended that we end her life so she wouldn't have to suffer any more than necessary and I accepted her recommendation."

Hopper says "So Fate was the reason why you didn't even try. Tell me, how does it feel to have more money to spend by killing a child?" Melissa says quite angrily "Don't start with me Alison. It wasn't about the money and you know it."

Hopper shrugs and says "Whatever. It's you who has to suffer the guilt of your sins anyways. But you have to promise me one thing. No one should tell Ghost that he killed a child, you got it?" Melissa says "I wasn't planning on telling him in the first place. Other operatives that are in the know have also decided to keep this a secret from Ghost." Hopper then says "Good. The kid is suffering enough as is." Then Hopper teleports away and Melissa says to the empty void with a little grief "I know."

Then Melissa makes a call on her earpiece and says "Rabbit, I need you to do something…"

Back at Luke's home, he enters through the door and a little girl comes to hug him tightly. Luke says "Ji I know you are lonely, but don't surprise me like that." Ji says "Sorry oppa. I just get really lonely waiting for you."

Luke says "Sorry, but you know I have to go to school." Ji says "Speaking of which, shouldn't you still be at school?" Luke says "Ah yes, well you know, I felt a little sick so I had to come back early."

Ji gets worried and says quite hastily "Ar-ar-ar-are you alright?!" Luke smiles and says "I'm fine. I just need to lie down a little."

Then Ji starts to pull Luke's hand as she says "Ji will guide you to your bed oppa. We better not make you any more sick." Luke chuckles a little as he is being guided by Ji to his room.

Ji removes the blanket, pulls Luke to the bed and puts the blanket on him. Then Ji says with a smug face as she pats Luke's head "Good good good. Now just rest easy as Ji will get you something to drink and eat while you rest."

Then Ji leaves Luke's room to get food and drink. Luke lays there for a while and thinks to himself "Let's play along Ji's shenanigans and let her do her thing. She's always been so attentive to everyone in the orphanage. Helping Dan by setting plates at the table and trying her darndest to help Yuki cook. How nostalgic."

Luke waits for a while longer and thinks "She and Sera were the only ones that could actually make me feel normal from time to time. Sera with her orders and Ji with her… wait, what did she do again?" Luke wonders for a moment and asks "Why can't I remember?"

Then Ji comes back with food and drink on her hands and places them on the nightstand. Ji then says "There you go. Some toast and milk for the tummy. Do you need anything else oppa?"

Luke then asks Ji "You remember how you and Sera were helping me to experience how it felt to be normal?" Ji answers "Yes, Ji remembers." Then Luke asks "What did you do exactly?"

Then Ji puts her hand to Luke's forehead and says "Like this." A weird sensation that made Luke think that the horrors he sees before him were never there. He feels a slight headache, but it is still beautiful for Luke to remember things like that.

Then Ji stops and says "Do you remember now oppa?" To which Luke says "Yes. How could I forget?"

Then Ji says "Good, Ji is going to go shopping for dinner. Ji will be back as soon as Ji can." Then Ji leaves the room and Luke eats the food that she brought and drinks the milk. After that, Luke starts to rest.

Soon after, the memories that looked like how Luke envisioned normal started to dissipate. Just like how Sera's power wears off soon after the treatment is done.

Some time later, Mike comes back and checks how Luke is doing. Mike says "How are you holding up?" To which Luke says "Good. Ji made sure I made it safe. She is currently shopping for dinner."

Mike says confusedly "Ji? Who is…" Then he realizes something and says happily "Ah Ji. How could I forget her? She always stays behind and welcomes everyone home. I wonder what she and Mia will cook for us."

Luke says "That is the fun part, you never know what our master chefs can come up with." Then Mike says "Like you can tell the difference." To which Luke says happily "That's right. I can never truly tell."

Both laugh for a while until they stop. Then Mike says "Sorry." Luke asks "What for? It is true after all." Mike then says "I just… I'd like it if you could enjoy things the same way we do." Luke smiles and says "Don't' be such a downer Mike. I've gotten used to this already."

Then Mike shouts "That's not the point!" The room falls silent after that. Then Mike says "You always act like everything is alright even though your experience is nothing but. You just smile and laugh even though you…"

Luke stops Mike and says "It doesn't matter anymore. I simply live so I can be with my friends. How I will experience it is a whole separate matter. At the moment, I feel mostly fine with minor phantoms in my vision."

Mike says defeated "Still…" and then there is silence again until Mike breathes deeply and says "Still, I wonder what food they'll make."

Ji returns together with Mia. Both start to make food soon after. When the Food is ready, Sera also comes to the house to eat. But first she asks Luke "Are you alright?" To which Luke says "I'm fine."

Then Ji hugs Luke as she says happily "He is fine thanks to Ji." To which Sera pauses for a moment and then says "Yes, of course." Then all five sit around the table and start to eat and chat.

After the meal, Sera says "Ji, can I speak to you for a second?" To which Ji says "Do I have to? I want to spend time with oppa." After which Sera says "I just want to confirm something that I remember with you." Ji looks at Sera with a serious face and two stare at each other for a moment. Luke notices this and asks "Is everything alright?" After which Ji says "Everything is okay. I'll see what Sera has to say and I'll come to your room to play later." Luke then leaves while looking behind his shoulder.

Then Ji asks "What did you want to talk about Sera?" and Sera says "No sound will escape this room." And then she says "Care to tell me why my memories have been altered?"

Ji then says "So you noticed. As expected of god rank power." Sera responds by saying "I made sure long ago that my memories won't falter in any ways. In other words, I remember everything I experienced with perfect clarity. The memories your power made don't look as clear as the memories I have fortified so I figured there's something wrong with them."

Ji then says "Expertly calculated Sera. But what are you going to do now?" Sera ponders for a moment and then says "I think I will let you be." This surprises Ji who asks "What? Why?"

Sera explains "I sense no ill will from you. I don't know why you would be so clingy towards Luke, but I'll let it slide. But just so we are clear, I have dibs on Luke so you better not get in my way."

Ji then says with a bratty attitude "Oh yeah? Well I'm not buying the whole dibs thing, so I'm not going to give up. Oppa is Ji's oppa."

Both look at each other with rivalry in their eyes, until Sera says "Bring it on then" Then she says "To Luke" and teleports away. Ji realizes where Sera went and she starts to run towards Luke's room as she shouts "Not fair! Oppa promised that we would play together!"

And so as they had fun, the night soon came. Ji didn't have a room in the first place, so she tried to sleep together with Luke, but Sera quickly made an additional bed in her own room so that Ji couldn't have her way. Ji tried to use her powers to make Luke agree, but each time Sera managed to convince Luke that it wasn't good for them to sleep together.

Law: Serah's power "Law" is an extremely powerful ability. In its simplicity, it has the power to make what the user says reality by making an order. However, each order of law consumes a certain number of points. The more world breaking the law is, the higher the cost. For example, changing 1 g of coal into 1 g of gold costs around 3 points and reversing gravity in 1 m radius costs 127 points. It is unknown how the cost of each order is calculated, but consensus is as mentioned previously. Canceling an order doesn't seem to cost any points in most cases.

The points that are used seem to come back in certain percentages. This means that if the user increases the overall capacity, the speed of which the points are generated is increased. In layman's terms, the higher the capacity, the faster recovery of points is.

To increase the capacity of points, user has to either level up, increase proficiency of the power or allocate upgrade points that the system provides to the power itself.

It seems that the user doesn't necessarily need to understand the principle of how the change will happen in reality and it works in a manner of autosuggestion. For example, if someone is sick with something, the user can either say a detailed order like "Cure (specific illness) by (doing certain actions)" or a general order like "Get better". The amount of points that is consumed by the said orders seems to be about the same.

It seems using this power, the user can grant themselves any superpower they wish for. Though it has to be mentioned that orders made to control the system seem to cost an absurd amount of points, in theory, the user can change the very matter of which the system works. It is advised that the powers that the user tries to gain by using this power are made as laws themselves and to not make the system grant these powers. This advice is made by taking the cost of points into consideration.

About: Serah seems to be a very smart young lady who has a good sense of justice. Considering the world changing capability of her power, she is quite reserved. People around the world have been trying to take advantage of Serah to further their own goals. For this reason, Serah has to be protected by all costs. [Read: Protection of Serah Zakon]

While our organization sees that she has to be protected at all costs, it should be noted that at this point, Serah can just order people targeting her to just die. She however has a quite strong sense of justice, so she has yet to give that kind of order to anyone.

Serah was brought to a certain orphanage, where she met many people who she made friends with. One of these friends is a boy named Luke Lahti, who Serah seems to have feeling akin to love. The nature of what level their friendship is is argued in the organization often, but at the very least, most people who have observed these two's relationship have concluded that Serah is very protective of Luke.

Serah's main focus seems to be to rid Luke of his condition. Due to Luke's condition being connected to the system, the cost to rid Luke of his condition is absurd. The exact cost that the system demands Serah is 582 621 182 points with no alternatives. Given the rate of growth that Serah has, it is estimated that it will take at least 42 years. This estimate is being generous, as the rate of growth can rise by leveling up.

Due to the absurd amount of points needed and the nature of Luke's condition, the odds of Serah succeeding is estimated to be 1,4%. Serah is aware of this estimate, but refuses to give up hope to this day.

Due to Serah's sole focus being to increase her point capacity as fast as possible, her co-operation with the organization is highly limited. This fact has created three separate factions in the organization.

Conservatives are in the mind that Serah may do as she pleases as her power will grant her immortality and thus, making it possible for her to be used at a later date. This faction also believes that clearing out dungeons and making dangerous gates in check is beneficial to the world.

Opportunists are in the mind that Luke should be secretly dealt with in the name of profit. The suggestions of how they would deal with Luke have been sent to the director's desk multiple times, but all have been rejected so far.

The neutral faction doesn't take any sides due to them being either unrelated to any programs regarding Serah and Luke or them simply not wanting to take a stand. This faction has been found to be harassed by the other two factions to some degree and the matter is being investigated.

Regardless where everyone stands, the point is that Serah is considered a very valuable subject. She is the second person who has been proven to have god rarity power. Compared to the previous god rarity, she is considered to be much more powerful than her.

The only limit on using this ability is that the user has to be able to imagine a space to control it. Luckily, this power often comes with abnormally good spatial awareness. The magnitude of the user's spatial awareness is limitless according to the system.

Only known owner of this power is Alison Lotus.

About: Alison was born in Lyon and grew up there until she gained her power at the age of 11 the day her parents died during a mishap expedition in the gate "Labyrinth of Lu'urtah". She was moved to one of the organization's facilities in Paris.

During her stay in the organization, she was trained to harness her powers with maximum efficiency. Thanks to professor Hulttis' efforts, she managed to reach level 10 at the age of 14. When Alison hit level 10, this caused a breakthrough of which she somehow managed to figure out how to go anywhere in the world. According to professor Hulttis, this is most likely due to the system's assistance.

After her breakthrough, Alison began to have rebellious thoughts that made her miss practice more and more often. Multiple efforts to make her understand the importance of these practices were met with further absences. Eventually this led to Alison disappearing from the organization's radar at the age of 15, after which Alison was not seen or heard from again.
