Chapter 26

"Good night, honey."

"Good night too, baby," Leonard replied as he courted Calista to the door.

--

Calista, who was never willing to part with her beloved man, immediately turned her face with a deep and long gaze.

Seeing this, Leonard came closer and then embraced her slender body from behind.

"I want to hug you all night, baby," said Leonard, being clingy.

"Don't be crazy!"

"Go back to your room then."

Calista shortly glanced at him and shuddered flirtily.

"Don't forget to lock the door. Don't let me come to your room in the middle of the night." Calista suggested.

"That's what I expected. Come to my room, baby. Let's wrap this beautiful night with warmth."

"If that happens, Calvin will kill us both then."

Without the two of them realising it, a pair of brown eyes stared at them in disapproval.

Hence, he immediately called Calista to tell her to shower and go to bed while he seemed busy with the laptop screen.

Even though it was late at night, Calvino didn't stop monitoring the Kafeel group's progress.

This hectic schedule made him pay no attention to romantic affairs. All his attention was devoted only to the company's matters and Calista.

Even though his parents insisted on getting married, he had a thousand ways to delay it. He wanted to see Calista get married first, live happily with a man who was entirely responsible for her happiness and spend the rest of time with her.

Finding his sister approaching him, Calvino looked up.

"Why haven't you slept, dear?"

"And you? Why haven't you slept yet?"

"Go to bed first. I still have a lot of work that needs to be done soon."

"Let me see."

"Go to sleep," Calvino emphasised his words while gently stroking his beloved sister's hair.

However, he wondered when Calista immediately opened his laptop.

"What are you going to do? It's getting late."

"As usual," Calista replied with a wink.

"A novel?"

"Yap."

"A reliable businesswoman with extraordinary ambition still has a very strong imagination. Good." Calvino complimented.

"Is this a compliment or… "

"Of course, it's a compliment, sweetie."

Calista immediately showered Calvino with a warning look when he teased her.

"Can you shut up? Your chatter can spoil my mood."

"It's getting late. It's time for you to rest. Go to sleep!" And without permission, Calvino immediately grabbed the laptop from Calista's lap.

"What are you doing, Calvin?"

Without answering, Calvino just turned his face then grabbed Calista's head so that it rested on his shoulder.

"It's getting late, sweetheart. Go to sleep!" Said Calvino while stroking the top of her head.

Calvino's strokes comforted Calista so that she was in dreamland not long ago. Not wanting to wake up his sister, who was sleeping, Calvino immediately positioned her head so that she leaned on his lap.

The morning light shyly peeked through the window curtain sweeping Leonard's warm face and forcing him to open his eyes. He immediately stepped out of the room, and the sight in front of his eyes made his chest feel tight.

Calista, who was snuggled in Calvino's lap and the strong arms that hugged tightly depicted that the two were not siblings. The two of them looked like a couple.

Calista, who started to wake up from her dreamland, realised footsteps were approaching. She instantly opened her eyes and how surprised she was when she met a pair of black eyes which looked at her with an unusual gaze.

Not wanting Leonard to misunderstand, she immediately got up from Calvino's lap. The sudden movement made her brother wake up.

"What's wrong, sweetie?" Calvino softly asked, then followed his sister's gaze.

"Oh, you're awake?" He then turned to look at his beloved sister.

"Make breakfast, sweetie."

"I don't want to. It's troublesome. Just order it from a restaurant."

"But Calista, I miss your cooking. Go ahead." Calvino pushed her slender shoulders into the kitchen while he strolled into the bathroom to clean up and get ready for the airport.

The three of them ate breakfast. Leonard, who was pampering his tongue for the first time with Calista's cuisine, was amazed. Kafeel's only daughter and a career woman who has an important position in the office also has other skills that today's women rarely possess.

Calista was indeed a wife material. That's what was spinning in Leonard's mind. His gaze never left her beautiful face.

"Oh yeah, what time do you leave?" Calista glanced at the clock on the wrist.

"Soon, dear."

"To Jakarta?"

"Nope, to London. I have a meeting with Mr Albert."

"Let me take you to the airport."

"No need, you better rest. Remember, don't go anywhere, and take care of your health!"

"Calvin, be careful. Please send my greetings to Mr Albert."

"Of course, and don't forget to consider my request,"

Before walking out of the apartment, Calvino rubbed the top of his sister's head affectionately and then hugged her.

Meanwhile, Leonard looked at them disapprovingly. Even though they were siblings, the closeness between them, of course, made him uncomfortable. Their proximity was unusual in his eyes.

After Calvino's departure, Leonard said goodbye to go home, but Calista immediately stopped him.

"Are you jealous?"

"How could I be jealous of your own brother?"

'But the look in your eyes says something different, Leo.' Calista thought.

"Calvin and I are twins. We can both feel each other's feelings. He already has a girlfriend. Her name is Lenata, my best friend when I lived in London."

"London?" Leonard asked.

The question that just tickled her ears, of course, made Calista gasp.

'Oh my gosh, how could I slip away. What if Leo asked other things about London, about my life there, and about …' Calista was worried.

"Baby..." Leonard called.

Calista immediately looked up, and Leonard' sturdy fingers reached out to caress her cheeks.

"So you were studying in London?"

There was no other choice. Calista then nodded. In fact, she moved to London because she followed her ex-husband.

"Oh yeah, tell me, how was your life in London? I really want to visit that country but, until now, I haven't been able to."

"Um, nothing special. Shall we talk about something else?"

When Leonard realised Calista's beautiful face turned uncomfortable, his fingers reached out to cover her cheeks affectionately.

"What's wrong, baby? Does my question bother you?"

Calista shook her head, trying to hide her sadness. Sadness for her dark past that ruined her happiness.

"Oh yeah, how is your wound? Let me see."

Leonard brushed off her fingers.

"'I'm fine, baby. No need to worry too much."

"How can I not worry? Your chest is pierced to save me."

Leonard then grasped Calista's fingers.

"It's my duty to protect you because you're now my woman, my baby. Oh yeah, do you have some good movie collections?"

"Yeah, but…."

Leonard's pair of eyes immediately narrowed.

"But what?"
