2 - A New Life

I stood up in confusion while staring at my new body. All of a sudden the purple flame on my ring shined with an incredibly bright purple light and a piece of paper appeared in front of me with some information that I so desperately need.

The information this paper held was, "You have gained your family's legacy which has granted you access to the Undead Realm. If you desire more information, use the moon as a direction and the road as a guide to the nearest village. Also, be prepared for your life to be forever changed, change your way of thinking, expand your way of thinking, broaden your way of thinking and you will thrive. Otherwise, you shall be trampled upon by others and become a slave, use your mind to become victorious but don't disregard the importance of brawn."

I wasn't that shocked at the limited amount of information provided. I was mostly just incredibly happy that I even got some information instead of stumbling around in the dark. I was surprised though at my ring shrinking to accommodate the lost flesh and muscle and fitting securely on the bone. I was also confused on how his ring gave me this information and my "family's legacy"? I was extremely confused by this but decided to stop pondering on it as I would not receive any information if I just continued staring blankly at it and rubbing it like a monkey.

I then proceeded to check out my new body, I was 6 feet tall with a slim bone structure, appearing more elegant, as elegant as an old skeleton could be anyway.

I then looked around for a second until I saw a road straight ahead of myself, which I then obviously walked to because I had no other option than to follow the instructions I was provided. I then looked up at the sky to find the blood-red moon, when I found it I looked straight down from where the moon's position in the sky was to the ground. And as if by some miracle, the road actually did go in the direction of the moon.

"It appears that I actually have to follow the directions provided to get anywhere in this new world," I say disgruntled.

I starts to walk along the road, which happens to be a simple dirt road and nothing more. As I'm walking I don't spot anything too eye catching, the only thing of interest is a surprisingly lively forest to the right.

I walk for about 10 minutes until I see a standard village, except for the residents, animals, and crops. The residents were various types of the undead, the animals were either some type of undead beast or something that looked like a regular beast except for the fact that there was black energy accumulating around them at a slow pace, and the crops all had the same black energy accumulating at a slow pace also.

As soon as the village appears in my sight, my ring once again shines, albeit lightly this time which I was grateful for so I'm not noticed. Once again a piece of paper appeared in front of me with information.

"With your new undead form, you will not need to worry about the undead immediately attacking you so entering the village is safe. Also, new undead appear quite often so you will be not be viewed as suspicious if you ask questions and appear to know nothing. Once it has been deemed that you have acquired sufficient knowledge about everything there is to know, you shall receive more instructions. You have a long road in your family's legacy ahead, work hard."

I was delighted at the new information I received, especially the part where I will not be viewed as a suspicious person for knowing absolutely nothing. I was also starting to accept the instructions more and more as they had not led me astray yet and I'm starting to feel a sort of good connection, I cannot describe this connection as I've never felt it before but I sensed the ring held me no ill will.

After I finished processing the information and the fact that I've started to accept the ring. I walked the short distance into the village. Once I arrived at the village I was surprised to hear that all the undead could speak fluently and coherently. I was delighted and immediately went to a pedestrian that was strolling along the food stalls, which also confused me as why would there be food stalls if undead didn't need to eat? Anyways, once I reached the side the pedestrian, a skeleton as well by the way, I tried to speak but all that came out was the sound of bones clattering against each other in an unpleasant cacophony of sound. I was confused because of all the other undead could talk then why couldn't I?

When the other skeleton heard this they turned and spoke to me, "Ohhh, you can't speak? Have you just arrived?" Guess the skeleton is a man, said with a slight smile?

I vigorously nodded my head as it seemed to be the only method of communicating besides sign language but I can't do sign language so, let's just move my head up and down or side to side.

"Ahhhhh, well then, you see the tall building that looks like a temple with the steps leading up to it and pillars supporting the roof(imagine Greek temple)? Go there and everything will be explained to you." He says gentle with a kind smile on his face as he gesture towards the center of the village.

I look and then nod to indicate that I understand what he is saying. As I walk towards the building after trying to thank the man, I become confused as to how he was able to show expression even though he had no face, just a skull.

I soon arrive before the stairway leading up into the building. As I walk up the stone stairway I see two guards standing before the building in black and gold armor. However, these guards do not seem to be disciplined as when I approach they don't even react or try to inspect me for anything, they just stay slouched and facing away from the stairway with their back exposed.

I walk into the building, still the guards don't even notice me, what disappointing guards. I step through the doorway and I'm greeted by multiple signs but one stands out to me. The sign that says, "Newly Arrived Undead." I look at where the sign is, the sign is right above an office to the left of the entrance with a "please enter after knocking" sign on the door.

I of course move over to the door and knock. "Come in," the courteous voice of what sounds like a woman greets me. I walk through the doorway and am greeted by a zombie woman sitting behind a desk.

"Before anything happens, let me give you the Newly Undead orb, this orb allows you to once again experience the 5 sense, allows you to talk, and allows you to use its energy to form facial expressions. So, ready to begin with learning about your new life?" Says the smiling zombie gently while holding a purple orb that lets out a dim light.
