The death rattle

Feeling intimidated Charm felt like she had no choice but to take a sip. 

At first nothing happened other than having to squelch the feeling to spit out the metallic taste from her mouth.

Or beg to lick the remains out of the discarded rum bottle.

Anything to stop herself from vomiting or running away from the site.

It's all in the mind she reminded herself everyone else seemed fine, she spoke too soon. 

Heat started coursing through her veins and her throat felt like it was on fire. 

She looked down at her fingers and she could see the blue veins throbbing.

Then a simultaneous shock shot up both her arms. 

With a stab of shooting pain, she bent over and grabbed her stomach.

No one was paying her any mind with the loudness of the hypnotic beats from the drum.

Madam Agnes was going around touching people on the forehead.

It was like a domino effect, they were dropping to the ground like flies.
