35. Rank Assessment

Indra and Dewi go to the Hunter Bureau in the next week. Their whole family actually goes there using their old car. They delayed their rank assessment because their dad & mom insisted on going with them.

"Dewi, Indra, you need to promise me that you will always prioritize your safety if you become hunters."

"Mom, you have been saying that every day and we've told you we will always do that."

"Dewi, your mom is just worried about you."

"I know dad, but she's been saying that like in almost every chance, so I get bored of it."

"Mom, we know you are worried about us. But I heard that if you keep demanding the same thing from someone, it can create a different result instead because it annoys them, so they want to rebel. We already know that we need to prioritize our safety and it is also what we'll always do because we want to go home and meet you again, so we need to be safe. So instead of worrying, we'll love it more if you support us because it will motivate us more and make us want to go home safely to show you what we can do."

Everyone suddenly gets quiet when they hear what Indra just says.

"Wow, little bro, I never know you have talent for speech. Where did you learn that smart statement?"

"Obviously not from you because it sounds smart."

"Huh? What'd you say? Wanna go at it? Don't expect me to hole back just because I used to dote on you."

"Heh, let's do it so we can see who's stronger."

"STOP IT, YOU TWO! Don't forget you are awakeners now. You will break our car if you fight here. Heck, you will even kill us all."

"".... Sorry, dad.""

"Sigh, good grief. Anyway, you heard what Indra said, honey. I agree with him. It's natural for parents like us to be worried. But excessive worries often lead to unwanted results. I've faced such cases many times among my students. Supporting them while showing our care is better instead of just showing our worries. There's nothing wrong with being worried, but seeing our worried face every time will make them anxious instead, which can make them unable to work properly and it might put them in danger instead."

Their mom is always such a worrywart. She always cried whenever they went home with injuries after their Muay Thai training. That's why she never came to watch them in competitions because she can't stand seeing them get hit.

Well, she came once and she fainted after just watching for a few seconds, so she never came again after that. But she also never stopped them from their Muay Thai training because she wanted them to do what they love and she also wanted them to be able to protect themselves.

After driving for some minutes, they finally arrive at their city's Hunter Bureau. There are quite a lot of people that come to assess their rank today. Awakening has become a normal thing now and people even hope they will awaken their power quickly.

Obviously, everyone hopes they will get a high rank in their awakening. They usually want at least a C-Rank, but the fact is the majority of people only awaken D or E-Rank magic power. C & B-Rank are still rare, not to mention A-Rank or even S-Rank.

"Siblings awakened almost at the same time? How rare. Well, it can happen. You guys can sit first and wait for your turn. We have quite a lot of people on Monday because we were closed on Saturday & sunday."

"So it's this crowded because it's Monday, huh? I thought it's always like this."

"It only happens on Monday. Still, it's much better than when we started opening the magic power rank assessment for the first time. Here's your forms, please give them to the officer inside after you are called. I hope you get nice ranks."

"Thank you."

Indra & Dewi leave the receptionist with a rather surprise but pleasant expression. It's rare to find such a nice and friendly receptionist in government offices, after all.

While waiting, Indra checks other people's power to see if there are other S-Rankers. But as he thought, both of them are the only S-Rankers here. However, there is an A-Rank, so he expects there will be a commotion in this office today.

They wait for a little more than an hour to be called. The first one to enter is Dewi. She looks nervous, so Indra tells her that it will be fine. He already knows what the result will be, so he can say it confidently, which can calm Dewi.

Indra already maxed her power using his skill without her knowledge while she slept. She didn't realize it because he used Stealth which erased his presence. Even an S-Rank like her with a strong sense couldn't detect him, showing how great his skill is.

So he already expected what will happen when she assesses her rank. Then as he thought, a big commotion can be heard from inside the assessment room. People are murmuring, thinking that another A-Rank appears because this happened when the A-Rank that Indra noticed was assessed.

They are waiting for Dewi to come out, but she doesn't appear even after they wait for a few minutes. Then the next person is called, which is Indra. Everyone is surprised but also confused because the man who gets A-Rank also didn't come out but the result was announced while Dewi's result isn't announced.

Indra just passes through the other awakeners that have surrounded the assessment room's entrance. He can push them easily with his strength that surpasses everyone here. Even his sister won't be able to stop him, not to mention these low rankers.

He enters the room and sees the flustered staffs. They seem to be in shock that they don't realize him entering. They apologize quickly when they see him and start the assessment procedure immediately.

"Please sit here and touch this crystal ball."

Indra sits on a round chair. There's a black crystal ball with a diameter of 10 cm. He touches it and the staff that faces him frowns and looks confused.

"Eh? Why's there no reaction?"

"Ah, sorry, I suppressed my magic power."

Indra starts releasing his magic power through his hand. He can control his magic power freely since his intelligence stat reached 250. He can suppress it until no one notices it even without his system's help, and surely he can release it all.

The staff looks surprised as the magic power reading number keeps getting higher and higher at a rather slow pace. Usually, the result shows up instantly, not increasing visibly like this. So he is confused because this is the first time he sees this kind of thing.

Then after a while, beeping sounds can be heard from the machine. It can't read Indra's magic power anymore as it surpasses the machine's ability. The staffs' jaws drop and their eyes are opened wide out of shock.

They look back and forth between the ERROR sign and Indra. None of them has ever thought they would see 2 people with magic power surpassing the machine's ability in a row. Furthermore, both of them are siblings.

"T-this....."

"How is it?"

The staffs are speechless and can't answer Indra's question immediately.

"T-the result....."

"SI-SIR, CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE S-RANK MAGIC POWER!"

One of the staffs finally says it with a very excited tone.

"But we need to inform you that this machine's accuracy is not the best. We will need to measure your magic power with a better machine in Jakarta. Everyone who's measured to have A-Rank and S-Rank needs to go to Jakarta for a 2nd test. Our supervisor will give further explanation. Please follow me."

The staff then leads Indra out of the room through the staff door. He is led to the elevator and they go to a room quite far in the back. When they arrive, Indra can see the people inside are having expressions of disbelief. No one says anything for a while, making it awkward. So Indra decides to break the ice.

"Nice weather, isn't it?"
