Evelyn Turner drove slowly down the road as she took her children back home from school. They were chattering happily in the backseat and laughing gaily as though they did not have a single care in the world. Evelyn glanced at them through the rearview mirror, meeting her daughter’s eyes and returning the happy smile that the little girl gave her. She loved her children to bits and was very happy with how her life had turned out, but there was always something missing.
She could not say she was not blessed. No, that was not it. She was indeed blessed as she had a husband who loved her to bits and two beautiful, healthy children. Each day, she thanked God for sending James to her and making her life far better than it used to be. Apart from her beloved husband and children, she also had her beautiful and caring sister whom she loved to bits and who loved her in the same vein. But despite these blessings guilt, shame, and pain all warred inside her almost every day.
