The Strange Place

"Miss!"

...

"Miss!"

I quickly open my eyes.

"Thank God you are okay. What happened to you, m'lady?"

"Huh? What do you mean? I'm perfectly fine...you see..." I mumble as I slowly fade back into another deep sleep.

"M'lady! You must wake up"

"I'm already awake! Stop moving me..."

Wait a minute, I ain't no m'lady...and who is she?

I open my eyes just slightly to get a clear view of the person's face who keeps calling me m'lady.

She has bright, curly, and tangled red hair tied back messily as a bun. I can see some strands hanging from her temples and some strands tucked behind her ears. She has a pair of beautiful light brown eyes with a slender nose and a pouty mouth. She is very beautiful.

"Oh, are you awake m'lady?"

Is she a maid? I suppose she is since she is calling me m'lady.

I quickly close my eyes in embarrassment.

The maid furrows her eyes.

"M'lady is awake madam!" The maid runs out of the door to inform another person.

I quickly open my eyes, trying to get a peek of where I am.

I see an extravagant room lavished with gold carvings on the ceiling and many portraits of a person hanging on each side of the room.

Who is that person? She looks beautiful. It looks like she has bright golden hair that is pulled back in an elegant and gracious braid with some bouncy wavy hair on her sides. Her eyes look like refined diamonds shimmering under the moon. Her lips has an elegant shape; not too full and not too small. Her smile could heal a broken person.

"Cece?"

I close my eyes instantly as I hear someone's footsteps getting closer.

"Oh... my dear Cecilia..." The person says while caressing my face with soft, gentle palms.

Her hands are so warm...it feels very familiar...as if I'd felt this touch before. It felt like a mother's touch.

I slowly open my eyes as if I had just woken up.

I still don't know what is going. I can't even recall any memories. What happened to me?

I decided not to ponder on these thoughts, but to figure out where I am.

"Who...are you?" I gently ask, hoping not to disappoint them too much.

I saw her eyes widen for a second, but then return back to her original look. I can tell she was surprised but she didn't want me to feel bad about anything.

After a pause, she finally opens her mouth and says, "I am your mother."
