Twilight in Obsidian

“Please take me with you,” the woman whispered. Her voice was dry and hoarse, her body trembled like a leaf on an unsettled wave. Was it because of the crime she had just committed, or was it because of the aura the man before her gave off? She must be sick, both in and out of the head. Everything in her said not to ask for help, or at least not to ask him for help, nevertheless, here she was bowing her head down before him. “Now, why would I do that?” His dark, airy voice filled her ears. His voice sent shivers down her spine, making her freeze in her spot. Her head sank to the floor, unmoving. “I do anything from cleaning to washing, and cooking,” she said, muttering her words, timidly. The man hunched down to her size and uttered, his breath tickling her neck. “Have you met me before?” “No, but I can—” She began to say, as if he were contemplating her request but was quickly interrupted. “Don't be so quick to sell yourself to death.” Passing through her, he left her to crumble on the ground. °∆° "Did you think I would let you go after I found you? Do you know how long I have waited for this moment?” His voice deepened with each word that fell off his lips. The woman stepped back, not wanting to get close to this terrifying man. “I am being truthful, Your Highness. I don't know you, Your Majesty, our families haven't met for any reason. So please let me go,” she whispered. Her body touched the wall. Now she was stuck between the wall and the terrifying man. “Please, My Lord, I don't know what you are talking about,” She whimpered. He placed his strong hands on her hip, giving it a light squeeze as he pulled her closer to his chest. He whispered into her ears, “I missed you so much, it's been a long while, My love” He placed his head on hers °∆° R18 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOK COVER ISN'T MINE, IT WAS FOUND AND REDESIGNED BY ME. ~Chapter 16~

The girls sat together, side by side, during dinner. Lord Whyte sat at the head table, while Lady Gwen sat at her husband's right hand, leaving the left for Sereia and Yen beside her.

"Greetings my lord, my name is Yeona" Yen greeted calmly.

"Good evening Father"

"Good evening girls" Lord Whyte replied their greetings. He turned his eyes to the black-haired girl beside his daughter, "How is your father young lady?" he questioned sipping from his wine.

"My lord, my dad died two years ago and mom five years before"

"Hmm? Isn't Lord Harris and Lady Evangeline your parents?"

"No my lord, my parents are Lord Artisan Lint Chamberlain and Claire Chamberlain" She smiled giving an assured look to the man. Sereia felt the need to laugh her heart out.

Slipping her hands towards Sereia's left thigh, she pinched her painfully, making Sereia jerk her leg upwards.

Lord Whyte glared at the two girls, who didn't seem to pay much attention to him or what he had to say.

"Young lady, you are aware that I am having a conversation with you right now, are you mocking me?" Lord Whyte spoke, his voice rising from his rage.

Yeona looked up from her little tease with Sereia to give the head attention.

"Yes I do my lord, I dare not make a mockery of the head of the house, that would prove I don't have moral training" She smiled her response to him. "But I also told you the truth, my parents are really Lord Lint and Lady Claire Chamberlain, and I am their only daughter and child, Therefore, I have no other parent than them."

"I see" He replied singularly.

Sereia sniffled on her laugh at the whole reaction.

"Also, thank you for letting me spend the night at your home." Turning her head to Lady Gwen, Sereia's mother, "You have a lovely home, it is well kept and beautifully decorated."

"Enough flattery, it won't get you anywhere" Sereia teased, her voice laced with weird excitement. Yeona furrowed her brows at her friend. The dinner interactions made her this excited, or was it everything that was happening? She didn't understand, but she was going to ask when they would be alone later tonight.

The dinner went on smoothly after the previous questions. Yeona thought through everything she had been told starting from the previous day, Meeting Sereia was a surprise and also a mixture of blessing and confusion.

It was a blessing because she had someone of her age available to talk to and overall just be with, rather than staying in the house and acting like a slave in her own home.

She only acted like one, so she could have a reason to leave the house as she couldn't leave for no good reason and also wanting to walk around the town was a dumb reason for her.

It was confusing because how could she live in Voudia and not know there were other Aswinesians among her, and also she had no idea of her backstory or even her powers.

It was clear that Lady Gwen definitely knew her mother, and they were close, so why didn't she meet her when she was still alive? Why didn't she know Sereia years ago? And also why didn't her mom say something or anything about them?

She had so many questions to ask but wasn't sure if or how she would even get the answers to them.

She sighed aloud.

"Problem?" Lady Gwen asked calmly, her eyes steady on hers. It was as if she was watching everything she did. From her breathing to the way she blinked, to the way her face morphed into questioning eyes.

Sereia looked at her friend, while Yen looked at the mother figure in front of her.

Smiled sweetly and spoke in a soft voice, "Oh it is nothing, just thinking of all the information I have received since the previous day"

"I see, so do you believe what I had told you?" she asked. Sereia sent a hard glare at her mother, Lady Gwen knew what the glaring look meant, but she chose to ignore it and also ignore her.

The purple-eyed girl's eyes widened in surprise as she whipped her head in the direction of Lord Whyte.

She noticed he had been mute for a while. He had this faraway look in his eyes as he stared into nothing.

"Don't worry too much, as he is spelled he won't be able to hear or understand anything we are saying" the mother reassured, not even sparing the husband a glance.

It was at this point she wondered if they were in love, or if he was also under a spell.

"So you do believe what I told you?"

"I guess, but there is some missing plot in the story"

"Like what?"

Yen wasn't hesitant to voice her question, "If you are my mom's best friend as you said you are; why don't I know you? I don't remember a time when my mom ever spoke about/of you".

"And it is also clear you didn't know, or else you won't mistake me for her when I first came in this morning"

The room was silent; it wasn't an eerie feel. It was just a thinking silence as if each of them was thinking and waiting for the other to answer the question.

"That is what I would want to know also" Lady Gwen responded, breaking the silence. Yen sighed inwardly for the nth time that day. She had hoped to get something out of the talk.

Playing with the ends of her dark hair, she spoke up, "I guess nothing can be done about it" She quietly stood up from her seat.

"I will excuse myself now, thank you for the pleasant dinner" She curtsied a little to her host and hostess before walking out.

Marina and York stood on guard by the window as they stared outside at the late-night

"M-marina, what do we do? Young Mistress isn't back yet?!" Yoke asked, not hiding the anxiousness behind it.

Marina leaned on the window sill and just stared at it. She didn't know what exactly to do. The Young Miss has never been this late.

No. She has never been away from home for so long. She only looked calm and collected because Yoke was panicking.

If York was panicking, and she was also panicking, who would comfort them and keep them sane and assured?

She heard the clattering of forks and knives on ceramic plates. The Rutherford were all eating. Even though she had told them Yeona was coming back later in the night, she didn't seem worried about the possibility of being slim.

She was more worried about the young miss than the possible punishment she would face from Lord Harris.

She sighed and turned to York. "After the Rutherford's retire to their beds, we would both take a fire touch and try to search for the young Miss"

Yoke pounded on the idea and nodded, "W-what if L-lord H-Harris comes b-back to ask for h-her?"

"We can't generate who we don't have, we will just try to avoid the question"

"How?"

"I don't know we will figure it out some way and somehow, but for not ACT natural" Marina's voice was firm and hard, it held finality that prevented Yoke from asking another question.

"N-natural" Yoke stammered under his breath, away from Marina's ears.

Sephtis sat on the Cerberus, clutching softly on its hair to steady himself. The large dog sped through the meadow.

The beckoning meadow of countless flowers stretched across the landscape, dotted with small groves and a large lake in the distance.

The myriad colors and rich perfumes mesmerized butterflies and crawling creatures in all shapes and sizes.

"As usual, Shidal is always bright and beautiful" Sephtis whispered, and the Cerberus howled in response to his master. He felt a sudden pang of jealousy and envy, but he immediately shook his head, removing the thoughts from his head.

"Daemarral was like that also" He stated aloud like he was trying to defend himself from feeling envious. Well, it was only like that in his dreams and when his mate was present.

Just above them, birds embraced the freedom of the skies, while three deer ran across the field in a group to an unknown destination.

The soft breeze rocked the landscape to a gentle rhythm, further enhanced by the rays of tantalizing sunshine. The landscape itself could provide for almost all the needs, safe for perhaps shelter against the elements.

Sephtis sighed softly as he made sights with the only building in the whole Shidal.

The second category of the gods is the Demi deities. These are higher gods/goddesses that are mated to humans. They are often given titles. Since they are half human and half god, once they die, they would be buried and their title would be given to another.
