The two couples stayed there enjoying the night sky until it was almost dawn. Since they didn't want humans to see their shining skin they decided to go back.
They bid their farewells to each other and much to Simon's surprise Jane actually half hugged Alice goodbye. Simon gave them another bottle of blood candy since Alice seemed to enjoy them so much.
While going back to Volturi he remembered that Jasper had told him that after joining the Cullen coven he had gotten married to Alice. Simon thought about it and felt that it wouldn't be much different from the life he was currently living with Jane, but he then recalled how happy Jasper had looked when he was taking about.
He decided to wait a bit before making a decision. After they arrived in Volturi they went Aro to report, who didn't seem to be bothered by the results as it was already expected.
They walked towards Simon's room as they wanted to spend time by themselves. Both of them felt hungry for each other.
As soon as the door closed, Simon hugged Jane from the back. She closed her eyes, feeling his lips on the back of her neck, his fingers tracing the length of her spine. His fingers skillfully undoing her clothing. His hands roamed around pinched her nipples hurtfully and deliciously. She felt herself being lifted, her feet no longer touching the floor, hands turning her, and stroking her all over. There was no gravity any longer; she felt his strength increasing, soon she was floating in the air. She turned over, groping in the shadowy tangle of arms supporting her, feeling her legs forced apart and her mouth opened. "Yes, do it."
...
Simon was walking alone, which surprised some people as Jane was always with him. Simon stopped in front of a door and knocked.
"Come in."
Simon opened and door and entered.
"So tell me Simon, what can I do for you?" Marcus questioned going straight to the point.
Simon had come to Marcus to talk about his marriage with Jane. Marcus was the only sane person who had loved his wife, unlike the other two who had their wives addicted and locked up.
Simon explained the situation to Marcus about how was unsure whether he should marry Jane or not not because he didn't love her but because he didn't feel the need to get married.
"I see you have already progressed your relationship to such a level. My advice to you would be to go for it. The thing about marriage is not that you feel a need to get married it's more like you want every part of her to be yours. The feeling of declaring it boldly that she is mine and she declares that you are hers is what would make you understand why we get married. It is also the reason that you felt your brother happy when he talked about his wedding." Marcus said after listening to Simon, he then took a deep breathe, "you know, we vampires always believe that our life is long and we're going to have alot of time to be happy. But we don't our life is almost as feeble as humans. In the next moment, we can get attacked and die. We can be killed quite easily too if the other person is stronger. Same with the ones we love. My advice to you is only this love and protect them lest they become somebody you used to love."
Simon knew Marcus was talking about his wife, he even felt that he knew what had happened to her but he had his hands tied.
Simon thanked Marcus, although he was curious about what had really happened to Marcus's wife he didn't get involved in it as it was not his place.
He went back to his room, saw Jane reading a book while laying on the bed. He sat beside kissed her and said, "Jane what do you think about marrying me?"
Simon was scared of being rejected even though he didn't admit the importance of marriage, the thought of marrying Jane still made him giddy and nervous.
Jane looked up from her book and smiled, "I thought you'd never ask."
Simon was surprised he had not expected that Jane would be waiting for him to ask her. She told him how happy Alice had been while talking about her marriage and she had become curious about it too.
Simon smacked his lips upon Jane's and greedily sucked her tongue. He felt butterflies in his stomach and started to realize what Marcus had meant.
