Chapter 15 TS-20

The next day I find myself having breakfast with the rest of the group and both soldiers, Dr. Jenner did not appear.

"One question, how do you keep the power going?" Rick asks the soldiers, Rick seems a little more intelligent than in the series, in the series, no one questioned where the energy came from.

"The generator runs on fuel, we are currently rationing as much as we can, I would say we have about 1 week for the fuel to run out completely. Eliot and I have been collecting fuel from the surrounding area to keep the place running." Lenny responds as he takes another bite of his food.

"We can help, we can organize groups and venture further afield, so that we can get the fuel that is needed to maintain this place, if we work together, we can do it." Rick gives some kind of motivational speech. Although I understand, this place is very safe. However, with Wesker in town, I doubt this place will last for long.

"I think it's a good idea. We will also need more supplies." Elliot intervenes. "The supplies we have will only last a week and if we mix them with what you have, we could add a couple more days." Eliot says as he finishes his plate of food and stands up.

I spent the next few hours touring the facility together with Carl and Sofia, I didn't find anything interesting as most things were turned off to save energy, many hallways were dark along with many closed doors.

After a while, we used the stairs without anyone seeing us and we began to enter the lower part of the facility.

"What are we searching for?" Carl asks looking around the surroundings.

"Nothing interesting, I just want to tour the place, maybe we can find a secret passage." I say with a giggle.

"That's very childish." Sofia says.

"Look who's talking." I just snort looking at Sofia and raising an eyebrow at her. At this, Sofia's face turns red and Carl starts laughing.

"They are both babies." I say while laughing a little. "What would you do without your fantastic older brother? At my words, they both fall silent as they follow me.

Shortly after we heard some noises. "What was that?" Carl asks looking in all directions. "Where is the noise coming from?"

"I think we shouldn't be here." Sophia whispered. Given this, I only make a gesture with my hand so that they remain silent.

"This isn't right, Eliot, you know that." We hear Lenny's voice in the hallway.

"Remember what Jenner just told us." I hear Eliot reply.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" I hear Lenny exclaim, given this, I decide that it is better to get away from this area, Carl and Sofia are not very stealthy. So I quickly grabbed Carl and Sofia's hand as we started running through the halls, thus heading back to the stairs to get away from that area.

"Justin, Justin, why are you dragging us?" Carl asks complaining.

"We shouldn't be in those corridors, if they see us we'll get into a lot of trouble." I say quickly, at my words, Carl and Sofia continue to follow me down many other hallways until we bump into a person.

"What the fuck are they doing? They almost spilled my beer." Merle appears in front of us with a beer in hand.

"We weren't doing anything wrong." Carl answers quickly trembling under Merle's gaze.

"Exactly, we did not do anything prohibited. Please don't tell my mom." Sofia says quickly.

They are so bad at lying. Merle just crosses his arms. At this, I stand in front of Carl and Sofia. "It's none of your business Merle, shu shu." I tell him waving my hand like I'm scaring away a dog.

"Damn cheeky brat." Merle says trying to grab me, however, I start to run.

"Run." I say quickly, as I walk past an annoyed Merle, with Carl and Sofia following behind. "Catch me if you can, Merle." I say before starting to laugh out loud.

"Fuck you, demon child!" Merle yells at me.

Hours later at lunch, I found out that Rick, Daryl, Glenn, and T-Dog went out to get supplies and fuel with Lenny and Eliot a couple of hours ago. "Mom, do you think dad will be back soon?" Carl asks his mom.

"Don't worry, they'll be fine, I promise." Lori reassures Carl.

"Have any of you seen Doctor Jenner today?" I asked tilting my head a little. I should have the results by now, I'm curious.

"No one has seen him today." Shane says. "Why do you ask, Justin?" Shane asks me as he finishes eating.

"It just seems a little weird to me, that's all." I say shrugging. However, we are interrupted when Glenn shows up.

"Glenn, you're back. Where's Dad?" Carl asks, standing up quickly. Glenn doesn't answer and he just sits back in the chair with red eyes. Then Rick appears with a dark look.

"Rick, what happened?" Shane gets up and steps in front of Rick. He seems to have realized that something bad happened.

"We've lost T-Dog." Rick says causing everyone in the room to fall silent. Wow, I wasn't expecting this.

"Rick, tell me what happened?" Shane puts his hand on Rick's shoulder. Lori and Carol cover their mouths, their eyes glazed over as they hug their children. Glenn keeps his eyes hidden as Amy cries on Andrea's shoulder.

"We shouldn't have parted ways, we shouldn't have, but they insisted." Rick says sitting down in a chair.

"The fault was ours." A new voice reaches my ears and Eliot enters the room. "We thought that by splitting into two groups we would be able to cover a larger area, however, a horde of infected ambushed us on our way back. T-Dog was hit by the horde and he didn't make it, I'm very sorry for the loss of him." Eliot says without looking at anyone in the room.

To sum things up T-Dog went with Lenny and Eliot while Rick went with Glenn and Daryl. They managed to find some fuel and various supplies, but the price to pay was the loss of T-Dog.

This is so convenient, it reminds me of the scene where Shane shoots Otis in the leg to get away from the walkers. I bring my hand to my chin as I begin to think about this whole situation. Shortly after, Eliot leaves the room.

"Don't be sad Justin, I know T-Dog was your friend." Andrea says hugging me a little. I'm not sad, I just have a lot on my mind.

"Don't you think that's strange?" I say casually scratching my head, at this Shane just narrows his eyes.

"Rick, I need you to tell me every detail." Shane sits across from Rick as they begin to converse with each other in low voices.

After a few hours, Eliot walks up to me. "Justin, Dr. Jenner wants to see you." Eliot tells me as he ruffles my hair. Then I give him a charming smile. It's about time, I've been waiting a long time.

"Guide the path, Eliot." I say gesturing for him to lead me, however, a person is quickly approaching us.

"Where are you taking Justin?" Shane steps in front of us with a forced smile. "Justin come here." Shane says quickly. Shane is worried about me? That is cute.

"Dr. Jenner wants to see Justin. He'll be fine." Eliot says with a smile.

"Don't worry Shane, I'll be fine." I say as I start to walk down the hall. "Eliot, are you coming?" I say with a smile. At this, Eliot stops looking at Shane and then we start walking.

A few meters ahead, Daryl was sharpening a knife while watching us pass. Daryl looks suspiciously at Eliot, it seems that I'm not the only one who feels something strange in this place.

Soon we arrive at the lab, Eliot opens the door and the lab is a complete mess, with papers on the floor, and some equipment destroyed. In short, the place is a mess. After opening the door Eliot leaves.

Dr. Jenner walks towards me, he has shadows under his eyes, it looks like he didn't sleep at all last night. "Is everything okay doctor?" I say moving a little closer to him with a look of concern. "Didn't you sleep last night? I work all night? You must rest doctor." I say crossing my arms. "Heroes must rest from time to time." I say quietly.

Jenner just ruffles my hair. "You are a very considerate boy Justin, the only hero in this room is you." Jenner says with a smile. "Justin, I need a little more of your blood." Jenner says pulling a chocolate bar out of his pockets.

"The investigation requires sacrifices, Justin. That is why I need more of your blood to continue the experiments and thereby save the world." Jenner says extending the chocolate bar in my direction, I sigh internally and take the chocolate.

"What have you managed to discover doctor?" I asked tilting my head as Jenner proceeds to take another sample of my blood.

Jenner just gives me a fake smile. "It will take a little longer to get the results little Justin." Says Jenner, at this, I just nod my head with a smile. Liar, you're a fucking liar.

"Thanks, Justin, remember that we do this to save the world." Jenner says with a little sigh as I walk out of the lab.

I return to my room with a chocolate bar. With some crazy theories in my head. I start to eat the chocolate bar as I lie down on the bed.

However, my time for reflection was interrupted when there was a knock on the door, and Carl, Sofia, Amy and Andrea entered.

"Surprise Pajama Party!" Carl yells carrying several pillows. "where did you get that chocolate?" Carl points to the chocolate bar in my hands. Which I quickly hide behind me with a smile.

"I do not know what you're talking about." I say innocently.

"Let's go for him, Sofia." Carl and Sofia lunge at me for the candy bar.

"Enough, stop. Help me older sisters." I scream dramatically as Carl and Sofia try to grab the candy bar from me.

"Kids." Andrea snorts. "Sometimes I wish they didn't grow up and be brats all the time. Don't you think so Amy? Andrea says without receiving an answer. "Amy?"

"Share it Justin, share it." Amy exclaims as she joins Carl and Sofia above my bed.

Bastards, I will not give you my chocolate bar, literally blood for it!

POV Elliot

I find myself in a dark room with Lenny and Dr. Jenner, Lenny's hands are shaking a little while Dr. Jenner has a complicated look on his face. I feel horrible, I feel like I'm scum, however, it's for the greater good.

"Are you sure about this, doctor? once it starts there is no going back." I ask as I squeeze my hands.

Dr. Jenner gives a sad laugh. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." Jenner says, holding up a syringe with a sample of Justin's blood labeled TS-20.

At the back of the room is a camera recording the proceedings. "This is Dr. Edwin Jenner from the Atlanta CDC." Jenner says, at this, he pauses and approaches a bed where T-Dog is bound and gagged, writhing in vain while his eyes do not stop looking at us. I can see the betrayal written on them. Lenny starts to shake a little, as my nails dig into my skin.

During the day Dr. Jenner informed us that in order to test Justin's blood, test subjects were essential, however, the virus does not affect animals so the only option is to test on people. During the collection of supplies, we take the opportunity and capture T-Dog with a strong tranquilizer.

"The subject will be dosed with Justin's blood, classified as TS-20." It's all Jenner says before injecting T-Dog with Justin's blood. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, it's the only way." Jenner whispers.

"Starting Human Testing."
