800 A.D. Calm before the Storm

(Author's Note: I'll try my best to make the story historically accurate but know that some things are not going to be the same)

800 A.D.

This was the year the world welcomed one of the strongest beings alive. In the Chinese Empire, now ruled by the Tang Dynasty, were the screams of women dressed in very expensive garments. Beside her was a man dressed in shiny black armor that covered his body head to toe. The women continued to scream as the midwives struggled to get the baby out but after some time the baby was finally welcomed to the world.

"WHAAAAAAA," The baby cried.

"General Jing, congratulations it's a boy."

One of the midwives went to hand the baby to him but he quickly shook his head.

"Give the boy to his mother, I have to return to court."

The man got up and left the room leaving the midwives to care of his wife and child.

The midwives set the baby down in a cradle while they took care of cleaning the mother. Once the baby was set down it slowly stopped crying and drifted to sleep.

—----

I opened my eyes to be greeted by a bright light. I was blinded for a couple of seconds before my eyes finally adjusted to the lighting. My body felt small and frail. I couldn't even move my arms. I felt like I was just a passenger in this body and not the owner.

I guess this is what it feels like to be a baby.

Hearing muffled voices, I looked over to see three women surrounding another that is lying down on a bed. I tried to focus my hearing to try to understand what was being said but to no avail. You'd think with me being a Quadbrid I would be somewhat strong at birth but no I'm just like any normal human.

"Hello"

I internally screamed but calmed when I realized that the voice was the same as the being of darkness.

"So before you start in this world I have a few things to tell you first is that your powers are dormant. This will remain the case until you're 15 years old at which time you will also receive your dragon egg and Grimoire. Another thing that needs to be stated is that you are an Abomination within this world so I have taken it upon myself to give you the power to suppress your bloodline. This will help you until you learn concealment magic and it will also give you the option to choose what bloodlines you want to pass to your children. This is all. Hope you don't die."

'I'm screwed'

I thought as I listened to the message. Surviving for 15 years would have been an easy task for a normal person in 2020 but for a man in 800 A.D. I am not so sure of my survival. On the positive side this will give me time to train my combat skills from my previous life. With those I'm pretty confident of my survival.

'Man, thinking as a baby is hard,' I thought as my eyes began to close and my consciousness began to retire.

—---------10 Year Old Alec

"Jing Lie come here."

I came running as my mother called my name. Yes, I am in Asia right now, more specifically the Tang Dynasty. Well actually now it's called the Zhou Dynasty under Empress Wu, the first female Emperor of China. I knew that this dynasty wouldn't last long because when the Empress renounced the throne the Zhou Dynasty would fizzle away and the Tang would be restored.

At first when I realized I was born in China I thought I truly was screwed as all I knew about it was basic knowledge and that it was involved in many civil conflicts. I also knew that China had a big problem with corruption which I thought wouldn't matter until I found out that I was the son of a general.

My father was a very busy man meaning seeing him once in a while was a blessing. This caused me and my mother to grow close as we were basically living alone in a gigantic castle within the heart of my father's territory. I won't lie in saying that I didn't yearn for a caring mother as I didn't get one in my two previous life's. I enjoyed my peaceful life, training and being pampered by my mother. It reminded me of the calm before the storm.

As for my training, being the son of a general does have its perks. One being that I was expected to train in combat and become just as great as my father. Being 10 years old I knew that soon I would be taken to the battlefield so I started preparing.

Using a technique I learned from the royals I strained my body to the limit making it more flexible and dense. Of course the royals did have better techniques but they purposely gave me one that involved a lot of pain. My mother walked in on me training with this technique a few times and scolded me for being reckless. It took me weeks each time for her to forgive me.

I also practiced two techniques. The <Four Cardinal Directions> and <Dragon's Existence> were given to me by my father when I turned five. It was one of the only birthdays he showed up to and once he gave me my present he left. Of course, I didn't care about that. I was too old to chase after the affection of another. I was already content with just having my mother.

However, my old man's presents were awesome. The <Four Cardinal Directions> were the basic technique of the Tang dynasty given to almost every military squadron to study. Only the canon fodder didn't receive this technique. Even Though I call it a technique it's really four combined into one.

Each technique complements each other though as the first direction, The Dragon, focuses on movement. The second direction, The Tiger, focuses on attacking, The third direction, The Turtle, focuses on defense. The last direction, The Phoenix, focuses on perception.

The other technique<Dragon's Existence> was my father's personal technique which he made me promise not to tell another soul, not even my mother. I agreed and he gave me the technique and I did not regret it. After studying the technique I saw how simple but deadly the technique was. The technique focused on getting killing blows and harnessing one's killing intent. It was a spear technique so that's why I decided that the spear was going to be the first weapon I mastered.

"Lie, your father has requested your presence."
